A casino will charge you to play poker in their poker room, this is called the "rake". At Hollywood the rake is 10% of each pot that sees a flop. this amount is capped at $6. Additionally, the casino will take $1 out to fund the Bad Beat Jackpot (BBJ).
This means at Hollywood a pot of $40 is reduced by $4 because of the 10% rake and $1 for the BBJ. And the winner gets $35.
A pot of $80 is reduced by $6 because the 10% rake is capped, and $1 for the BBJ. And the winner gets $73.
The rake and BBJ varies by casino.
