I've seen worse stuctures, but it's definitely not the best. It will be interesting to see how many runners they get.

Looks like our speculation about the anticipated poor structures was accurate.

Yeah, small stack + bad structure. By 60 minutes in, bb is 10% of starting chip stack, which means all in poker.

I mean, I didn't expect it to be any better, but for $150 with no add on, rebuy, etc. it's a pretty bad deal.

Also notice that it doesn't say how much of the buy-in goes to the house.

So it's basically like a turbo tournament on Stars. Doable; I might actually give this a shot on Tuesday, just to see. Still, it is kind of ominous how they won't tell how you much of the buy-in actually goes towards the prize pool - hope they aren't keeping more than $15-20.

I'm thinking they left it off the brochure to keep it simpler for the noobs.

If they had listed the buy-in as $125 +$25, for example, they'd be explaining it endlessly.

No, it isn't.

IMO tourneys are destined to fail here due to lack of room, dealers and willingness on the part of the casino. If the structures suck and the buy in suck no serious poker player should or will play them thus they will be discontinued which really sucks

I haven't had the chance to ask the floor about this and was hoping some of you may have the answer: what are the rules on topping off? Do you have to announce it to the table? I usually buy greens and keep them in my pocket and top off when I get down 25-50 bux. I just want to be at max buy in at any point in time (force of habit from online). Any inputs?

Even given your hypothesis "no serious poker player will play them" your conclusion doesn't follow.

1) Take chips out of pocket
2) Add to stack when not in a hand (and total < max buy-in)
3) ?????
4) Profit

I asked if I have to announce it.

I don't think there's any room where you have to announce it. Just add the chips to your stack between hands (obviously placing greens or blacks on top of your stack or in front where they are visible).

Re: Hollywood Casino @ Charles Town, WV Poker Thread

We may see even more demand at Charles Town coming...Logged in to PokerStars this morning and got the following message...

"We are sorry but, due to government regulations, playing real money tournaments is not allowed in your area."

If anyone has not seen the news, there was a major indictment laid down on the major poker sites recently; Ironically, DC also just legalized online gambling.

Re: Hollywood Casino @ Charles Town, WV Poker Thread

Yeah they "legalized" online gambling but only if you are playing with people in the DC area. So I doubt people in DC are on their Full Tilt or Pokerstars account playing away now.

they can barely handle the demand now at CT in the poker room much less now that there is currently no online play.

Re: Hollywood Casino @ Charles Town, WV Poker Thread

Can't see myself playing either of these tournaments...Just too little margin for error with only 4k chips....not to mention I'd have to take a day off work or leave early in order to play...9am Saturday morning tournament would interest me and could finish b4 they open all tables
