Does anyone in the poker room ever actually answer the phone?

Mega bad beat: Minimum Quad 8s (was around 12k)
Mini bad beat: Minimum AAAKK (was around $1,400)
High Hands: Royal - $150, SF - $100, 4oak - $50
Aces Cracked - $50
Then that matched hand thing

So about my experience yesterday..was playing 1-3 from 7:15-9:15pm or so. Had someone sit down at the table that new about 20 words of english and new even less about poker. He bought in for 2 or 3 hundred and donked it off in a few hands...then reloaded for another 300 and donked that off a few hands later. One orbit of the table took 10x the amount of time than usual because he didn't understand anything. A guy sitting next to him knew Spanish and was letting him know the bets in Spanish and while we complained a little since it should be English only, the guy was adamant about playing (and spilling his beer on the new felt) and the helper guy was only saying the bet amounts etc. We also didn't really complain since he was donking all his money off. He'd bet $50 preflop, then $5 on the flop, then go all in but he'd muck his cards (after taking 2 minutes to figure out that he had to show or muck). It was a weird experience, not helped by another player calling those two people names every 5 seconds but at least it was a gold mine. Just wish I had a hand for the few hands that the guy was in.
I would not have said a word about the Spanish. You want to make a player like that feel welcome. I see they lowered the payout for getting quads huh? I got quad 8s on Friday night and received $75 bonus for it.

As Jack Bando alluded to, it was somewhat tense at the table with the player in seat 9 constantly rudely calling the Spanish player and the guy who helped him names. It almost seemed like Seat 9 wanted to fight the Spanish speaker at one point. Everyone else knew a gold mine had sat down and I was just hoping for even a mediocre hand to shove but someone else beat us to it.

I could be mistaken but I do think 4oak's are $50.

no poker players in this room, just sad/unintelligent degens who will allow to be bent over by the casino repeatedly..........continue to take it raw and enjoy it

It is 75 for quads..... and even though there are some strong players there are enough donkies to feed every one..... yes the rake is on the high side but you get what you pay for... and I have yet to have a losing session there.

the name calling should not have been tolerated by the house....... the player calling them obviously didnt see who the fish was..so,e one should have stopped him from perhaps scaring away the atm... english only is important however if all he was boing told was the amount og the bet and was that big of a fish i would have ignored it.....

If you are reading this harrahs, please lower the rake. Your room will be full if you just drop it a dollar.

Just announced via their Facebook page...starting tomorrow at 9am, the rake will be $6+1 and 3-5NL will be time raked $7 per half hour. They've listened....or are worried about their empty tables :-P

Lower rake is good. I played for a few hours on Saturday night just to check out the room and I was surprised to see open tables. I wasn't going to go back, but now I probably will.

Fricken sweet, I spoke with the manager about the high rake last weekend. I will have to thank him for this

thanks Derrick , for illinois its pretty solid. should put the other place on notice. the players asked for something , the management responded promptly. cant ask for much more. No way in the world Hollywood would have responded like this.

your dealers are personable , and honestly getting better at a rapid pace

its nice having a couple of supervisors in the room at all times also , not treating the poker room like a baby sitting class room.

Rick is great during the day.

Thanks again

People celebrating a 6+1 rake in an endless sea of 1-2 and 2-5 NL games. Such is the sad state of Chicago area poker.

Id rather pay time collection. then its only 14$ or so oop for me for the hour. Of course this way favors the better players but would speed up the game and less would be taken off the table.

Making the tables eleven handed would be better TBH.

I'll tell you what's sad...all the complaining!!! If you don't like full tables and bbj's then just give up and play in your basement with your buddies! And, btw: the room was full last night

I have not read that much on here that would convince me to play here vs Hollywood-Joliet yet? Rake the same (now). Dealers not that good (yet). Am I wrong? How much better are the comps?

The dealers are better than the Empress dealers,(for the most part) the room much nicer as well as the clientel. That being said if you like empress stay there. I dont like playing in a romm that looks like an after thought stuck in a corner! But thats just me.

as for the shoe, yea its goos as well but at 5 $ a gallon and tolls/time if i got more than 15 mpg the drive may be worth it . but id rather spend that time playing.
