Rake is 6+1 at Emp, so I highly doubt Harrahs is going 8+1. My gut feeling is equal or better to Emp

Really would like to check it out this weekend. Picture are up on their facebook page and it looks pretty cool. I still don't really understand how they are going to give out the wsop main event seats though? Is it just random drawing or tourney or what?

Tables are 10 handed. Some of the chips are brand new. Rake is 10% up to $7. The plaque says that they take a promo drop on pots greater than $20 but it doesn't look like they're currently dropping it.

Right now, there's 5 1-3 NL games and 1 3-5NL game. 5-10 limit just got called.

$7 rake kind of sucks. I still am going to give the place a shot though.

They are planning on having tourneys, they could do a $125 tourney with 80 people, winner goes.

There were 6-1-1 when I was there.

Short trip report:

Room is in the northeast corner if you consider the entrance to the casino floor south.

They have a tv displaying the list using an actual program designed for poker lists unlike Empress Excel.

Chips are brand new and are nice.

Tables are new, have shufflers and a system I've never seen. When you sit down they slide your players card and in front and to the right of the dealer is a little display showing 10 red lights showing you are there.

Rake seems to be 6+1 but not 100% sure. I think they're putting the 1 for the BBJ in the tray ATM but do not quote me on that.

Worst part ATM are the dealers. They're green as hell. Good attitudes, but green.

They currently have a promotion. Every hour you play is a ticket. In 2 weeksish they'll draw 80 tickets for a tourney. Top 3 in the tourney+top 3 in the facebook drawing (print out an entry form from FB and turn it in)+top 3 from twitter (see facebook) go to a 10 man tourney where the winner goes to WSOP. (The tenth man is Doyle)

After that tourney (5/22/11), they'll be starting normal daily tourneys soon after.

I played at the new room for about 8 hrs today:

I started off playing 3-5 NL and bought in for 500. I saw another player in the game with a stack around $1000 add-on an additional $500 in chips. I was told by the floor that in the 3-5 NL Game players can buy-in up to the largest chip stack at the table. I thought that was a terrible idea since the game pretty much can turn into a 5-10 NL or higher. Also, it scares away a lot of potential money from the table.

Positives of the room:
1. Comfortable seats, new felted tables, and nice new chips.
2. Friendly dealers and staff in the Poker Room.
3. Ability to order and eat food at the table.
4. Game selection was good, even when they tried to start a 5-10 Limit Game.
5. Constant cocktail service in the Poker Room.

Negatives of the room:
1. All Buy-In's take place at the table which causes for constant fills. Ultimately slowing the game.
2. Dealers are green which is causing basic mistakes (Dealers were not controlling action at the table, allowing people to use the phone while sitting at the tables, missing bets, and on instance take a new players money and not giving him chips.)
3. Rake being $7 and Comps 50 cents an hr (Same as Hollywood, less than Horseshoe).
4. Add-on rule for the 3-5 NL Game.

Very disappointed in the rake. Even if they matched the rake at Hollywood it would have been acceptable. 7+1+ $1 tip is too much.
Also no ipods. They say they tried but Ill gaming board said no. Prob time to call the gaming board and bitch.
Prolly going back to the shoe.

Just got back from new room. I am pretty disappointed. 7+1 rake is horrible. Dealers are friendly, but they all sucked. They were nervous as hell, as it was their first day I understood. Too many mistakes for me to type them all out. I don't know what the hell they learn in training besides that a flush beats a straight. No ipods....this blows.

No doubt that the rake sucks -- but 20 minutes vs. an hour to the Shoe (+ skyway toll) even it out at least a little bit for me.

Also -- haven't seen too many slot players wandering into the poker room at the shoe buying in for the table minimum with no clue about bet sizing etc. -- lots of calling stations to take to value city.

I definitely be back -- but will also spend time at the Shoe -- best room in the Midwest imo -- tourneys are a great draw at the Shoe and it's hard to imagine much good tourney action with only 8 tables -- what will it be ? A 3 table sit-n-go ?

+1 to many of the reports above -- nice playing on clean tables with clean chips -- I think dealers will improve -- funny thing was that some were very anal about the button -- "please don't touch the button sir"

Also - can't buy the button

Not having a cage is a pain in the ass when new players sit or there is a fill -- right now the games move a little slow -- hope that improves

Another positive over the Shoe -- not as much smoke to wade through on the way into the poker room. Even though I spend all my time in the Poker Room -- I still smell like smoke when I leave the Shoe from walking to the bathroom or in and out of the Casino --- not the same at Harrah's

Staff was helpful and attentive -- like it was said above - -but for a few exceptions.... somewhat green

Does having a dream about the new poker room count as information? Guess Im anxious to check it out tonight....I dont know that an extra 2 dollars from each pot will be worth saving 15 minutes in driving..

How was the wait?

not that it is much better --- but rake was 7 --- no BBJ at this time - supposedly it will start 5/21--- it was less than clear that it will be 7+1 for the BBJ - or 6+1 --- but if they are raking 7 now, I am pretty sure it will be 7+1

I was also there yesterday and agree with the posters above. Another thing that really turned me off was the dealers would put you on "pause" in the Bravo system the second you got up from the table so you aren't earning that paltry 50 cents an hour! I guess that 4 cents I would have made for my 5 minute bathroom visit would bankrupt them. I don't recall ever being put on pause in all my trips to Vegas. Sure, I can see it if you miss a few hands or better yet, you go on pause once you miss a blind, but every time?

It isn't the 4 cents I'm worried about, just the fact that the dealers would told to do that, rubs me the wrong way.

Just called and asked, rake is 7 until the BBJ is approved and then it's 7+1

hmmm...

Well, how about a boycott on tips for any pot over $50...(10% rake would be the same as Horseshoe until the pot is over $50)

Reduce the rake, and we'll tip...otherwise, pay from the extra money they take...

This would get dealers to complain about the rake as well...

Is this unethical or wrong to do?
