Thoughts on that game? Want? Don't Want? Min/Max's that would be best for for game?

p.s. not talking about Cherokee persay, as they of course make decisons on what to spread up there, thus is just general market research but since this is most active thread with PokerPro tables, just wanted to get some feedback.

any thoughts would be most welcome.
If you can convince a casino to run lower stakes games in order to introduce new players, etc. why not spread .25-.50 NLHE first? PLO is a newbie/fish killer like you wouldn't believe.
Having said that, I would love to play in a .25-.50 plo game at cherokee. or a .25-.50 plo/nlhe mixed game.

It's time to run promotions like every other casino.

I think $50/200 is optimal because any PLO game regardless of blinds will invariably lead to big stacks and large pots anyway. It would be frustrating for someone to buy in for less (i.e. max $70) when there are several $500+ stacks on the table, which any game that has been running all day will.

$50/200 is also more uniformed and less tacky and without the "online"-feel than a $25/$75 etc min/max. Live casino poker/rake with an online image is not good.

Finally, even a .25/50 with straddle will play big enough that forced small stacks all across will make the game more of a Sit N Go in nature than a true cash game.

A $50 min buyin is already very generous for a casino offering and would be the equivalent of a $5 blackjack table.

An inexpensive PLO game might be good to 'grow' a crop of plo players. If it starts to degrade the other games it could be eliminated. If the game is easy to set up there shouldn't be much harm in trying it for a week or two. If it is well received then make it permanent.

Something, anything, needs to be done to help the poker room. Saturdays have been decent but the rest of the days have been slooooow. Slower than in the past. Between the 'live' cards downstairs (sucking away poker players) and the poker room going 'silent' (no more PA announcements of any kind regarding the poker room), the crowd seems to be steadily dwindling.

Seems like they'd be allowed to make an announcement every couple of hours or so to inform guests that there is a poker room tucked away up on the third floor by the event center.

I say do ANYTHING and everything possible to get customers coming to the room. Try it all! LOL

Any word on when the poker room is going to get live dealers? Anyone hear anything from Supervisors/Managers?

Early 2013. 1/2 NL and 3/6 Limit will NOT get Live Dealers.

Myself and a lot of Atlanta players would indeed be interested in a low stake PLO game. .50/1 NLH game would be pretty cool as well.

Recent slowdown that some are commenting on is not new. Cherokee is a big-time tourist venue, and tourism -- including traffic to casino and poker room -- goes down every year when the summertime vacation boom ends.

Also, my opinion is that poker room is more populated with rocks and nits than ever before, pushing some of the more action-oriented poker players to the craps, live BJ and roulette tables downstairs.

Imo many of the current Poker Pro games have more rocks than the mountain stream next to the casino.

Where are you getting this information? I've never heard of a room having live dealers and PokerPro room at the same time other than to test out PokerPro.

The information is coming from every poker room employee who has been asked.

It's also been stated in the thread a couple times.

Thank you....I was browsing the last several pages of the thread and only saw dwalker had said it. So weird to me to have both live games with dealers and PokerPro tables. I've called up asking about games with dealers and wasn't given any sort of real time frame. I'd love to play PLO when I make my first visit to Cherokee. Lots of PLO action here in FL.

I stopped by today just before lunch, around 11 a.m., and asked the floor about the live dealers. The pretty sign on the counter says live dealers in 2013. I asked if there was any indication live dealers would occur during the first few months of 2013 and was told no. So it could be December of 2013. Who knows.

There were no games running but they had almost enough people on the waiting list to start one so I'm sure one started soon after I left.

I have heard various floor personnel say (for months now) that initially there would be PokerPro tables for the 1-2 tables and higher stakes games would be on 'live' tables, whenever live tables do finally appear. Of course, one thing they're good at is changing their minds. LOL

I assuming that the April WSOP circuit stop will be ran by outsiders because I would hate to think that it'd be run by poker managers with only 3-4 months experience and dealers with same experience. Southern Indiana was a joke last week and they have had a circuit stop for years.

You would certainly corner the market on the covented .25/.50 market. How about live cards 5/5 plo and the game would play for at least thurs-sun.

Yes, the WSOP brings their own equipment and staff. Even if the local staff was experienced, there are not enough of them.

Makes a lot sense to me, to use PokerPro for smaller buy-in games and tournaments (not including special events like WSOP circuit).

Um, they do not always bring their own staff and equipment. Southern Indiana was ran in house with house equipment and dealers.

I wonder why they wouldn't set aside a couple of tables right now for $60 and $120 SNG's right now. Seems like those would go pretty easily throughout the day when tournaments aren't going on.

Def don't do .25/.50 PLO,

$.50/.1 should be the lowest. With limits $80/$300

These games are on the list now. When 10 people sign up they start one. They are just not that popular. I assume it's due to the rake and structure. They end up being a crap shoot, really.

1/2 should be the bottom. A smaller game would kill the 1/2 game, which is on life support due to the start of off season.

It not really the blind amounts that matter, it is the buy-in.

At the Seminole Hard Rock Casinos in FL, the buy-ins are something like this (may not be exactly correct, but you get the idea):
  • 1/2 - $40 - $100
  • 1/3 - $100 - $300
  • 2/5 - $200 - $500

At Cherokee, the 1/2 buy-in is $100 - $600 (I think), which makes it more like 2/5 at some other casinos.

Oh really, yeah rake is high regardless of live or e-tables plus they are all crapshoots. Adjust structure and lower rake maybe.
