This place is notorious for terrible dealers and terrible floor rulings. You shouldn't be surprised.

HOWEVER

The people who run the game are quite shady imo. The promo dollar that they take is an hourly high hand good for a $50 VOUCHER to be used at another date; you get 3 days to come in when they are usually slow. Yet they are easily taking more than $200 from the tables per hour from this promo dollar. Other shady stuff like the preflop rake, management that lets regs skip lines, etc. make me dislike these games a lot. But if you want a good, soft, deep 2/5, it's gonna be better than GVC. Just call in before you make the drive out there because there are usually only 2 tables of 2/5.

Also the games only run from 2-midnight, so if you prefer to play at night, it won't be your best choice.

I've done pretty well at the RCG 1/2. Do you think the 2/5 is a meaningful step up in terms of difficulty?

Can't be that much because I got it and I'm a weekend warrior. Putting in like 10ish hours a weekend. And sometimes I don't go at all. I was surprised when I got it.

^^^What benefits (other than 50 cents per hour), do you receive? Is the GVC still affiliated/owned by MGM? If yes, are comps/tier status transferable to other MGM Properties?

To be honest I have no clue. I always cash my comps out ever so often. I only play poker there and go home. Haven't used comps for anything else. Might go today if I'm up to it.

I don't know what the big outrage is about the dealers.

Sure, they are not perfect, but I've never seen a moment where a dealer cost someone a pot or impacted the action either, and I've played there enough for dealers to know me by name.

They're human and there's other people's money involved so sometimes they may get flustered for a moment, but seriously, you'd think the people complaining here lost 1000s of dollars a few different time due to dealer error. When I start to see pots swung to the wrong player maybe I'll care.

Get over yourselves.

And no, I don't work for GVC in any capacity. Just someone with a clue

This place also has a few incredible dealers that are probably the best I've seen in ANY poker room I've been to. But, also has some very very slow/incompetent dealers that would make me want to take a break from the table sometimes. Overall mostly average/below average dealers though.

The main problem is that the really bad dealers, and there are several, piggyback off of the really good dealers. If the GVC dealers kept their own tips, then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I agree 100% with this comment and I know some of the dealers at GVC do also

Either you aren't paying attention, or you don't play there as much as you claim:

This just happened last Friday night, $1/2 table, female dealer (won't mention names):

Final board, AT662. Check, check, dealer says, "Let's see em, guys." Player A tables AK, player B tables A2. Dealer looks for a second, drags the pot to player B with A2. Table says "Whoa, whoa, the deuce doesn't count, it's Aces and sixes," dealer says, "No...OH wait, you're right, Aces and sixes," and starts CHOPPING THE POT. We're like, "Uh, NO, Ace-King wins," she's like "OOOHHH, right!"

Sorry to make you sound stupid, dude, but yeah, pots get swung to the wrong player.

Nice try though, get over yourself. Thanks for playing.

There are some great dealers. Unfortunately there are multiple other dealers that are horrendous, which drags down the good dealers and patron's view on the poker room. Some of the hiring is questionable, hiring very old dealers, dealers that have no experience, and dealers who seem to not care or pay attention to what they are doing.

One of the regs was speaking with a player and mentioned he is there everyday, works only 10 hours/week at his job, blah blah blah. So, the gentlemen refers to him as a "grinder" to which said pro takes offense and says that he doesn't consider 1-2 a grind because it is so easy. Mind you, I see this guy playing weekdays, during the day, not exactly optimal gambling time. I have never seen him buy in full, and he admitted he has never played 2-5. My conclusion is that said grinder lives at home and thinks he is crushing live 1-2 because he can keep his supposed 10 hour/week job and play poker with his newfound friends all day.
Saw him yesterday grinding away with never more then a 100 bucks infront of him he looked miserable

I played here for the first time this past weekend. Although the rake is certainly a killer, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed playing here. Only had one guy at the table who seemed to be kind of a d-bag Saturday night. He had a big stack in front of him and wouldn't keep his yap shut. He was mildly entertaining, but was a jerk to one dealer for just enforcing a rule. He apparently had been berating some other dealers before I got there.

Play on Sunday afternoon/early evening was fun. Lots of loose play and the players were civil.

The good: Most dealers seemed pretty good. They were friendly with some of the regs without showing favoritism. Brush seemed efficient at getting me seated both days. Free sammiches and chips Sunday afternoon.

The bad: One dealer (female) almost messed up awarding pots a couple of times in a down. She seemed to struggle with the concept of a split pot.

The ugly: High rake, filthy dollar chips.

I was expecting to not like the room based on what I have read here, but was pleasantly surprised. I would come back again when in the area. But that rake ...

Yep. She seriously did not seem to understand some of the basics that anyone playing or dealing should know.

One other female dealer seemed to be a rules nit. This only seemed bad because the other dealers seemed a bit more laid back. Overall, I thought the dealers were very good.

Just letting the people know that don't know the high hand goes all day now for 500 bucks and once the bed beat reaches 70000 the casino will add another $20,000 of their own money
