what are most players buying in for at the 1/2 nl (no max buy-in)

average buy in, maybe $150.

I played at the new room a few days ago. One 1-2 game.

The room is really nice . comment: agreed, beautiful room (+1)

Auto shufflers: i prefer hand shuffle

Beer: Cocktail service was very quick, : comment: agreed. (+1)

Staff: The dealers (with one exception) were very good and friendly. comment: ran into a beautiful new dealer (+1) who pushed pot to player who was not involved in hand and also made some change for big chip, leaving big chip in the pot, leaving the rack short about $12 or so. nice. ( +1) There were no mistakes made which cost any player any money.

which raises interesting questions. with so many underemployed competent Taj dealers, why hire young pretty dealers with no experience? While the introduction of young pretty single dealers is most welcome (+2), with one table running, the reality is she will never get enough real-time dealing experience...it isn't like the Sands in Bethlehem where after 6 months of 80 hours a week, they got to a reasonable level of competence...

Players: the players were fairly strong 2-5 players, leaving me with a negative expectation. ( -1)

Overall: I like this room a lot, comment: room nice, too many sharks ( -1) and not enough minnows and no comped rooms (-1) make it a pass, despite the fine food platter (+1)

i played the nug dec 31st and yesterday. there was one table of 1/2 both times i was there, on the 31st a small private game (i think 1/2) was started. one floor guy told me they had 4/8 HOSE on friday.

i had to wait a while to play yesterday, about 25-45 mins, during that time i walked around the casino and found $5 dollar craps! iv never noticed a $5 craps table any where in ac b4, had to play. it was alot of fun, time flew by.

went back to the poker room to find a seat waiting for me, unfortunately i only lasted a few hands on my short buy-in. lol.

having played a bunch of poker the previous night at Caesars and knowing i could be playing 5 dolla dice... i didnt bother to re buy

i like the room, every thing is new, cant beat that. chairs are pretty cool, and unlike any other poker chairs in town, cards are sick gemacos with an old school looking back design, and the floor staff is nice and friendly. i was offered food and drinks while waiting in the poker rooms lounge section.

the room was so smokey i wanted to ask if i could spark somethin up.

which reminds me, i have to mention the pizza place downstairs... it was awesome!

Very nice poker room I have to admit. The hand shuffling didn't bother me but auto shufflers could be better. The dealers were friendly and pretty decent. The game was good (with the exception of the bad players of course). Bought in and got decked on two buy-ins so I won't rant on that. I believe with the right management and the more games spread, this poker room could prosper.

I still dont see how this room survives. Doesnt seem like enought action to cover the free food or the floor staff!! The new PA rooms opened to crowds this room seems to have gone busto already. I'm not sure this bodes well for a large room at the Revel.

Also, I played about 3 1/2 hours and got 17 tier credits. Looks like you get 5 tier credits an hour......goodluck getting or maintaining your chairman's card.

Isn't that what makes a game good?

I went to the new room couple days ago. zero (0) games. (+1)
more time to flirt with dealers...
yesterday they had a 1-2 nl game in the evening.

Last Saturday night - 28K on table in 1-2 game (+1)

food quality: rather high, evening food platter (will continue, +1) excellent, chairman club and buffet, excellent. I understand there are other quality food options. (+1) morning food platter is bagels, danishes, muffins, butter, cream cheese...

tier points: 5 per hour. makes black card not attainable. which makes
high quality food a mute issue except for monied class (-1)

comped rooms: no comped rooms (-1) . possible room rate may go down to $19/night in off-season. ( +1/8)

Overall: room beautiful (+1) , business may pick up in February, Saturday night may be worth checking out with 28K on table (someone please report on game this Saturday night), check out evening food platter (+1), no comped rooms and 5 tier points/hour not competitive with other AC poker rooms (-1)

my source was the poker room supervisor (though always possible I misunderstood), maybe the game heated up Saturday night after 11pm...another interesting promotion i failed to mention is quads or better may get a cash award, even if the other person folds before the showdown!

Went there for the first time on Saturday hearing they had a 4pm tournament on the schedule - got there at 3pm - they were very welcoming (almost too welcoming). They had a 2/4 limit and a 1/2 game going but that was it. I sat at the 1-2 game and the floor came over at least five times in an hour to see of we needed anything, how was things going, etc.

The 4pm tourney never got off the ground - they said they had five interested, but no one signed up.

To reiterate earlier comments:

1.) too much smoke smell
2.) need autoshufflers
3.) need better comps
4.) no bad-beat provisions

It's a nice room with good tables and chairs, but until they fix the above, it'll be a hard sell.

How do you get a BBJ going when you barely can support 2 tables?

Played here last night after leaving the borgata. The room was alright but I have to say I was not impressed. 1 table, there was two thousand on it but everyone sitting was weak passive, the dealers/floor were inept, and it might just have been an isolated incident but the etiquette was definitely lacking. Set over set some drunk woman couldn't stop talking, nothing worse than a bad winner. Don't think I'm ever folding 3rd nuts to a random donk on the turn getting 4:1. Regardless, THERE ARE MUCH NICER PLACES TO PLAY THAN GOLDEN NUGGET.

Me and my gf Played 1/2 sunday night at 9pm til monday Around noon.. Nice room

Started with two tables then during the wee hours til noon we played 5 and even three handed. What players that did play were really bad with the exception of a young kid who got unlucky when crazy ugly lady flopped set over set...wish they would have auto shufflers, and not a fan of the chairs.

Floor people were really really nice. Drink service was ok.. Dealers were also friendly and ok.. I really Hope this room can get going...

@ got_the_itch

Yes, they have been spreading two to three games on the weekends. Mosty 1/2, with no max buy in the games are usually pretty good. Once the word really gets around there will be more games, especially on the weekends.

Will they do anything about the smokiness of the room? If not I'll never go there.

I was at GN just this past afternoon and went by the poker room, nothing going on. Spoke with one of the dealers who says something big will be happening soon at the poker room. This is my 3rd time through GN and one question keeps returning to my mind- When on earth are they going to finish the construction?! I'm pretty sure the drills and work people heading in and out of the area is more distracting than the smoke, which really didn't happen to affect me.

IMO the Caesar's guy who runs this place happens to be the diamond in the rough in an otherwise horrific staff at Caesar's AC. A part of me hopes he finds some kind of success running the games at GN, though not sure if that's anytime soon.
