re: Foxwoods Resort·Casino (Mashantucket, CT) -- FAQ updated 2013.3.1

Played Monday night at 2/5, and saw some encouraging signs that brought me back to 2004-2007 Era. Players with deep stacks overbetting and shoving up to $800 into dry (And sometimes empty) pots on the flop. Another player constantly throwing money around and just playing AWFUL; no strategy, rhyme, or reason to his play at all. Another player sitting down for the first time and having fun losing his money.

I was the lone caller for $30 anf flopped middle set on a 10 8 7 board and had original raiser shove all in for $500 to me on the flop!!!!!!! (He was a serial shover) He had K 10 of course......

Anyhow, fun time and shows there is still money to be made out there.....

No not at Foxwoods or Mohegan.

1/2 I keep getting sucked out on because people play any 2.
2/5+ is all super solid regz

I think the level of play at the $2/$5 at Foxwoods depends greatly on day of week, time of day, and whether or not its a holiday weekend or during a tournament series

Table selection is huge, but unfortunately they do the damn Must-Move so often a lot of times you don't have a choice

This is a great thing. You just need to handle the variance. The suckouts will happen, and yes they can get very frustrating, but if you can stomach them and not go on tilt 1/2 is very beatable.

The problem for a lot of the winning players is that the winrate at 1/2 just isn't good enough. They can do much better at 2/5, and that's why a lot of the regs in this thread play 2/5 or 5/10. The biggest obstacle is having a sufficient bankroll.

Let's please not have another 2/5 vs 5/10 pissing match. Just a preemptive message

I wasn't trying to start a pissing match, but to say there are no threatening players at 2/5 is a joke. There are plenty of players who choose not to play 5/10 for a variety of reasons (I'm not one of them, I don't want to play 5/10 until my bankroll permits me to)

Ask a host. They can break down your account for you. Ask them what you earned from Oct10-Sept11, Jul-Dec11, and Oct11-now, and that should clear up any questions about your card status since you can compare what they tell you to what I said above.

As far as your rooms and weekly slot play, that stuff was never tied to your card, only your play. If your play has decreased OR comp usage has increased, your offers will get scaled back. In some cases, offers were scaled back even while maintaining status quo.
Thanks for some insight, according to the site is says I should be able to see Win/(Loss) up to current date, but I only see 2011 year for view, could my play not have been tracked? I don't have my wifes account info atm to see if we possibly used her account for that session, but I probably accrued 800 pts in that 3 days alone in Feb... I have had to request card replacements multiple times, and having 2 diff accts is not possible due to SSN being attached, right? Calling FW was kind of not useful..

Would suck losing the status I had. Never really spent points other than coffees from DnD and in 2011 I used my free rooms almost 4-8 times per month.

I'd say don't move up to 2/5 until you're sure that you can handle the noticably bigger swings... I was lucky enough to go on a sick heater when I first moved up to 2/5 but am now facing the other side of variance and don't know how I would have reacted if this happened when I first switched... it's not the same as 1/2 and anyone who says it is doesn't play enough 2/5. Don't move up until you know you're ready, and def start by "taking a shot" imo

You won't see current year's win/loss. No you can't link accounts, yours and your wife's are completely independent. Spending points has no effect on your status. Things that negatively affect your status include using your free rooms, collecting the weekly points/slot play, picking up the giveaways, little to no play when you're there, etc. The thing that positively affects your status is playing, most notably concentrated playing (20 points in 1 day reflects better on you than 10 points in each of 2 days, for example).

It sounds like you did lose your status, but I couldn't tell you why without knowing your point earning, playing, and comp usage history. A host could help you with this info.

Saying that 2/5 plays like 1/2, and 2/5 is full of decent regs are both wrong imo. Id say that its somwhere in the middle.

And 2/5 doesnt have more variance, it has less imo. Sure, the money is more because the game is naturally bigger...but in terms of big blinds, its less cause the buyin is smaller. 100 bb's as opposed to 150. So, if you're properly rolled, its all relative.

I think the average buy-in at 1/2 is smaller than 2/5 after you normalize the data.

1/2...Ugh

Tables are full of AARP members and mosquito-stacks looking to shove their entire $85 in on any piece of the board. Nobody wants to play anything, and you get the dirty looks and groans if you raise a pot because people think they are going to hit the BBJP. Sometimes the pot can reach a whopping 2 Hundred dollars!

No thanks.

^ ridiculous exaggeration. Im pretty sure in certaint situations (fishy 1/2 table, tough 2/5 table) , a 1/2 table will provide a higher hourly than a 2/5 table.

re: Foxwoods Resort·Casino (Mashantucket, CT) -- FAQ updated 2013.3.1

i am going to be home for a couple of wedding for the month of june and have some questions about the 5-10nl and 10-25nl games.

what i am most interested in is how deep the games play. for example, how big does 5-10 usually play? is it infested with short stackers or do many of the regulars buy in deepish and encourage straddling?

how many tables of 5-10 generally run? do they run through the night or usually die out at a certain time?

how often does the 10-25 run? is it uncapped and does cash play?

thanks!
