This is not a good sign. But it may not be as bad as it seems.

I found that there were a lot of one time wonders who tried the game and did horribly (in addition to some impatient 20/40 players who lit money on fire).

And I could have said almost the same thing in May of 2008 when I left the game - although I would have only been able to name 11...

Maybe the scales have tipped and there are far more good players than not. And it also may be that you are seeing far better players on average during the week than I saw on Fridays and Saturdays. But I hope for the sake of all the higher LHE games that the ranks of the 10/20 get replenished. Hey maybe there will be a new class of early retirees coming...

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

The 10/20 game is in fine shape, I think people are delusional about what the game used to be. The weekends there are still usually at least 2, sometimes 3 and rarely even 4. I have heard that the weekday games have been spotty but whenever I show up there is a game ( Fish Who?). The idea that this game is especially nitty or tough also seems to be blown out of proportion. The game tends to go all night on Saturdays as it did this week, but rarely does on Fridays anymore, part of the reason for this is the must-move system which protects the main game throughout prime time but hurts it later, instead of(for instance) 13 players one 6 handed game and one 7 handed game the must move will break as soon as it goes 5 handed and players will leave and so the game dies earlier. Don't get me wrong iif you are a smart thinking player who has abandoned the Foxwoods 10/20 I think you made a great decision and should not look back.

FYI Saturday night there were at one point 5 20/40 games with 2 main games lasting thru the night often with a list.

PS IF you are looking for me I am the guy sitting at the limit table complaining that I can not bet enough to protect my hand preflop.

Havent been to foxw in about a month, has PLO games been running there? I used to always see lists of interests. Seems like every casino ive visited runs a 1/2, 2/5 or 5/10 PLO.

I have seen PLO twice at Woods in the last two years. Mohegan gets it going occasionally.

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

I play 4/8LHE - 20/40LHE, mostly 10/20 and of all the places I play (Borg, MS, FW, Home Games, Random others) the FW 10 game has slowed more than the others. I will also say that in all places I have noticed a move from many 10/20LHE players to the 1/2NL game. I find myself playing a ton more 1/2NL to follow the fishies. But my 2008 winrate was less than 0.5BB/hr so what do I know.

If Mohegan really wanted to draw crowds I agree they should use the $3 chips.
6/12 and 9/18 would do very well. But consistency is the problem there.
Sometimes they have 2/4 and 3/6 with nothing else.
Sometimes they have 5/10.
Sometimes 5/10 w kill.
Sometimes 10/20.
Sometimes 15/30.

Figure it out.

re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

I am planning on going the second week in march.

I plan on going home for spring break, and i was wondering if anyone has every played with/seen someone in a wheelchair play.

I play all the time at turning stone in NY, but i wanted to take my brother to a poker room. He's got cerebal palsy (sp?), and his wheel chair is electric. He has use of his hands and arms and what not, but its hard for him to handle cards/chips in a discrete manner, especially if the table is very low to the ground.

I see Reed always having a good amount of answers, so i'm wondering if this came up. I wanted to help him play limit, where i think it'll be easier cause its either "check, raise, fold, call"...there wont be any confusion in what his bet size is meant to be. I just want to flash him his cards once, and then handle the chips for him.

thanks

Hey Mj, I regularly help a guy who has a spinal cord injury, he has very little use of his hands So I gather and fold his hands for him. He also has to whisper to me what action he wanted to take and I handle the chips . He is able to look at them by himself though so if your Brother can do that, there definitely wont be a problem. If he can't, I can't believe they won't make a provision for you too flash them to him. I was still able to play next to him on a 1/2 NL table by the way.
One more note, we try to get in 5 and 6 seat, some dealers actually prefer doing all this themselves.

hope to see ya there
