I booked a free room for 2 nights last week, and it also showed a $64/night rate, even on the confirmation. I spoke to them and they explained that they have to show a price for reservation purposes, but it will be waived when you arrive. Sure enough, when I showed up they mentioned that the room was complimentary for two nights, and I didn't get charged.

Yeah, I'm not sure it's even really feasible for a poker player to get platinum. It just doesn't generate enough points. Platinum is, I imagine, the domain of the slot players.

Would be nice to have a second-tier option for poker players..

how you guys get free rooms at Foxwoods?
The best offer I got so far was like 49$/nt for just one night a week, and when I went to book it online no rooms were availlable.

I'm seriously contemplating just grinding out 2/3 Act 2s & 3s, then sell my $10,000 seat back to FW. le sigh.

On an annoying note, I really like craps now..totally kills your mental grind-ability at poker.

I know quite a few who already received platinum by only playing poker.
1st) Get a black card=> 500 hrs AND 75 days played within a year (it's checked monthly)
2nd) Average 32 hrs a week for 6 months

I know a couple of guys who do just that, they have to keep the first one then sell the rest.

On the annoying note, I played black jack for the first time in like 14 years..I estimate that one night cost me about 7G (at poker)..it was like I forgot how to play. I instantly turned into a loose calling station, impulsive donk looking for an adrenalin rush..it took months to get my game back. I don't belong upstairs other than to smoke.

I'v played some 1/2 and 2/5 NL with him and watched him fold umpteen times pre-flop and eventually raise or open pre-flop for a big number and get at least one caller. Go figure (the rationale for calling that is).

The first time I played with him the dealer collected his time and he posted his big bling. A few limpers were in the pot and he open shoves. He said something along the lines of "needing to make up the time." He played 5 or 6 hands and picked up.

Games are good there every day of the week. It might not be completely full like on the weekend, but you can always find great games there. If I lived up in CT as opposed to LI, I'd make it there much more often.

The games were exceptionally good Sunday because the snowstorm scared off a lot of nits and kept a lot of degens from leaving. They'll be ok any day though.

J/W , where on Long Island? I'm in Mastic and foxwoods takes +/- 3 hrs to drive to from my house, any further east than Riverhead it's quicker to take the Orient Point ferry to New London.

4 Hrs seems long to drive to the woods from anywhere on LI save out east south fork lol.

How much longer does it take you LI guys to get to AC then?
Quote
03-04-2009 , 05:55 PM
From me, AC is about 20-30 minutes longer. Also more hours of the day to travel without hitting any traffic it seems to go to fox than AC.
I've got a lot of friends in CT, which sometimes makes it more desirable than AC. My win rate is also much better for some reason.

I really only try and play on Friday night, sometimes Sunday. I hate playing with 8-9 other people who know how to play.

I played last night (Tuesday) when I found out my PM class was canceled. BIG mistake! An hour after I got there I was wondering why I was so tired, considering I had just ate 20mg of amphetamine and 2 black coffees. That's when I remembered I slept only 3 hours the night before.

Also, I almost **** my pants on the way in, in addition to several bathroom breaks caused by what I found out today was salmonella poisoning.

Needless to say, I was way out of character. I'm usually a very solid player with a respectable winrate at the 1/2. I never tilt, I smile and laugh at the worst of beats. Cool as a mother****in cucumber. I started to tilt after a very stupid bluff went very wrong (for 400+) I was calling LOTS, 3betting solids with 56s, making ridiculous river bets, showing bluffs, telling everybody how terrible I was, blah blah blah. Everyone hated me, I hated me, it was no fun.

I left only stuck 150, dues to the luck of a few random drunks sitting down.

Lessons learned: Don't play on Tuesdays, Don't play with salmonella poisoning on 3 hours of sleep.

Also, did anybody hear that fat guy with the really high pitched voice whining VERY loudly about a bad beat near the cashier window last night? That actually cheered me up quite a bit.

Blackjack. And some slots, but basically $20-40 bucks on smoke breaks when I play poker. But I'll play an hour or two of blackjack also.

I play BJ for two reasons:

1) it gets me points. You can get a good 10 points an hour if the floor rates you well at $20/hand

2) I use it to 'get the action' out of me. It lets me be more patient at the poker tables to make more poker money. I'm sure that I've lost money at BJ, although probably not a whole lot, but I feel I've made up for it by not feeling the urge to play as many marginal hands.

I just started playing BJ a couple of months ago, and I've found that my poker game has improved considerably by being more patient. If I find that I have the action urge, I'll take a break from the poker table and head back to BJ.

Sure, it's not optimal, and I'd be better just being able to keep my discipline at poker, but so far this is working for me.
