Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

I don't mind if a dealer says it, but it's kind of awkward if an actual player says 'Speed limit!' or 'Magic Johnson!' as he bets.

Not!
However, I think the dealers should add their own little '2 cents' just to keep it interesting. There's nothing like a boring dealer sitting down for a shift only to make the time drag when it's card dead.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Reminds me of a hand I played at FW recently.

I was in EP with AdKd and raised to 15. The dealer said "Thurman Munson to go"

I get one caller and the flop came down: AXXdd and I bet the ~pot: 32 and the dealer said "Elston Howard"

The turn was an A so, I decided to slow down a little bit and bet 49. "Ron Guidry" the dealer exclaimed.

The other player RR me to 99 all-in and the dealer said "F*ck, Mitch Williams never played for the Yankees".

I called ofc, and the other guy had a weaker ace and I took it down when the river blanked.

I won a decent pot and didn't tip the dealer cause I am a Sox fan.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

I don't really mind this stuff or even when a dealer wants to make conversation as long as the game keeps moving. One particular dealer at the Sun used to stop dealing to tell a joke or story and it drove me nuts. Very nice guy and entertaining but he would slow down or stop the game. Tilted me when he came to my table to the point that I would take a break then. Now a year later he is more confident as a dealer and can be just as entertaining without slowing the game down.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

whoever you guys are that start that 1/2 PLO8 game you have to start making it PLO High only.

I sat in it once waiting for seat @ my regular game and it was a nit feast with never more than 5 chips in the middle, terrible.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Hi all,
interested about which limit games (LO8, LHE) does Foxwoods offer?
What are the limits?
How often do games run?
Are the games any good?
Thanks!

4/8 L08 sparingly, never played do not know quality, probably a nitfest.

LHE:

2/4 - loose, donkfest, chasing gutterballs and two outers...classic 2/4. The rake is substantially high at this level so you should skip and move right on over to 4/8. (min buy is $20)

4/8 - some what less donk then 2/4, more solid players overall, but a easy game to beat, don't spew off chips in obvious -ev situations and value bet your strong hands. (minimum buy in is $60)

5/10 w/k, 10/20, 20/40+ - sometimes these games are rock gardens with competent players, other times the 20/40 game can play like a 4/8 game (or so I have heard) the betting can and will get capped with multiplayers preflop, and expect lots of action on flops as well. Be prepared to either win or dust off multiple racks of red birds. these game run pretty regularly, 5/10 is sparingly now.

Mixed games run regularly at higher stakes, 75/150, and higher around WPT times. a 10/20 HOSE game is not uncommon, as well as other medium stake mixed games.

Stud runs regularly, 1/3 spread up to 10/20 usually.

If your not used to playing higher stakes I would suggest the 4/8 limit game, you can take a couple hundred dollars from the game in a pretty short amount of time by just winning a few pots.

The room is quite large (100+ tables) so you never know what you are going to see running unless you stare at the board for a while.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Stuey got it right on but I will give my 2 cents:

Stud always spreads upto 20/40.

FL Hold'em is always spreading upto 20/40, and if you know the game well play the 20/40 game over the 10/20 b/c there is alot more action. 10/20 is where are the rocks hide out. Expect to dig into your pocket when you play 40 Holdem though because the game can get very wild.

Omaha 8 is always spreading 4-8 usually 5 days a week. The 75/150 game is usually HOE. They have been also spreading 150/300 latley. Both great games. If you know Omaha 8 well and you have the BR play that game over anything else because most of those plays specialize in stud.

The great thing w/ Foxwoods is that the room is big and there is always open tables and free dealers. If you really want to spread a different game they will let you if you can find a few players. All you need is like 3 ppl to start the game and you can usually fill the game.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

4/8 O8 with half-kill isn't a nitfest really. Plenty of 7-way flops with people playing any four middle cards, A997, garbage like that. Variance is real high though with the game that loose. It doesn't get much more frustrating when you get a constant flow of AA2x hands with 5 callers and having it come QQ9, J9K and 33K followed by a bet, raise and two calls.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

I was just taking a guess as to what the 4/8 w/o kill would be like, I have not seen a 4/8 h/k there in a while, I might have to jump in on that.

I have not been down in 2 weeks but the 4/8 is always with a half kill or at least the 20+ times I have played it was.....
