Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Unfortunately some people do not act like they have been there before (who knows, maybe he hasn't) If this was his first "big" tournament he might of gotten over excited, understandable. If not, he has no right to act like that, if you think you have a reason to celebrate you can watch Tom Dwan win a $1.1M pot and sit there motionless, if he didn't fist pump and celebrate, then why are you? Anyways that sucks dude i would of said a few comments before leaving that's for sure.

Seriously in any walk of life most people do not exhibit consideration of other people. Poker is no different. These people would celebrate whether they sucked out or were ahead all the way.

I generally don't in either case.

But I am not going to stand in judgment of anybody either. There have been times when the stakes were so high and the tension in me so ... taut ... that I have let out some kind of celebratory sound/fist pump/table slap/etc.

I truly believe what Barry Greenstien says in his book that is basicly you treat people and act the same way at a Poker table the way you are as a person. Classless, no respect and no dignity. If I do something stupid and get lucky I hunker down and shut up. So I’m in the $340 Mega this week, play a great tourney and get in a hand with a huge stack when I wake up with AA. I out play this fool so embarrassingly for him when I reraise him PF, on flop put him all in as I think he will call thinking I'm weak and I’m sure I’m way ahead on a dry board 8 high and I just want to take the pot or double up. I move all in and everything I have done to this point I want to look weak with AK that missed. He calls, see he is in big trouble then sucks out and I’m done.
Now he goes into the idiot celebration dance. Fist pumping, high fiving buddies that everyone in the room hears. As I usually do I make a quick exit not wishing anyone luck which I usually do to cool off.
Then I start to think. When I win I do it with dignity and certainly let the guy I beat off without embarrassing him unless in very rare circumstances he/she deserves a little knock.
If I suck out I’m especially quiet and thankful and maybe even feel a little bad but try not to be in this spot very often where it is me that I have to suck out.
So here is the thing, yeah you excited you got a miracle but why would a person that would have lost 1/3 of their stack, still been in very good shape turn into a Moron ape dance with his buddies? Why does poker attract such losers?

I dunno who's the loser here. He didn't taunt or insult you. If he gets excited after winning a big pot then that's his life. If he put the chips in bad then you want him to keep having fun playing poker.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Long time, first time.

So for anyone needing details about taking the bus from Flushing, Queens to Foxwoods, I’m semi-pro. Just be prepared to enhance your trip reports with anecdotes like this one from my last ride up.

The bus driver drove right pass the Foxwoods entrance…and slammed on the brakes when we found an appropriate driveway. One guy was standing prematurely and was launched down the center aisle and wiped out. We pull into someone’s driveway and an old Chinese dude in a puffy North Face jacket gets out to help guide the U-turn. A “farm” lady watches the development from her porch. After a successful turn the old dude chucks his hot tea cup before getting back on the bus. Lady yells at him and makes him come back and pick up the cup. We're back on the road, and arrive at the Foxwoods bus depot in one piece.

Played 2/5 for a while, and headed back home.

I've been staying at the Howard Johnson's in Mystic, CT. It's 15 minutes from the Casino via local roads, 25 minutes by the highway. I'm paying about $56.00 a night with taxes. The wireless is excellent by hotel standards (I'm playing online right now).

Also, I had no problem adding another night yesterday, at the last minute.

I JUST called the front desk, they have plenty of rooms available.

I might as well brag, I made the final table at the first Mega-Stack on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Hey, I suck at searching, I was wondering what games Foxwoods spreads these days, I haven't been in a long time but might go tomorrow. Interested in LHE, PLO, and NLHE stakes. Though I'm not too optimistic about them actually having a PLO game running. Even just a 1/2 game would be so sweet though sigh.

When I last went, 20/40 was typically the biggest straight LHE game, but I heard 40/80 might be running more?

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Limit: 2/4 - 20/40 running regularly, 40-80 periodically

No limit: 1/2 - 5/10 runs regularly

PLO - 1/2 Half PLO Half Hi/Lo has been running pretty regularly.

1/2 PLO has actually been running a fair amount of the time on the weekends. If not when you get there start a list of interest, might be able to get a table going. Weekend they will likely have 3 tables of 20-40 running, I am not sure on 40-80 as I don't play that high.

Re: The Foxwoods Poker Thread

Can we instate a rule that who ever goes to foxwoods has to post what games are running, or take pictures of the board and upload them...I always report games when i go and rarely see other people do it.

I'd be happy to oblige if my phone wasn't 8 years old.
