Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
Got an email from DP about the WIP Celebrity Bounty on Tuesday Oct. 18th. Former NFL players Ike Reese and Dan Klecko will be there. Five of the hosts from WIP and Seth Everritt from mlb.com. I really don't listen to Philly sports talk radio since I have XM in my car. I was still be playing because it is one of the few big events that are held during the week when I can play.
How many runners do you think they will get for the $25000 Guarantee celebrity bounty? Entry fee is $150. Is there a good chance for an overlay?

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
Had some fun today. There are some rumors about some pretty cool things, but I wasn't able to get any real confirmation that the rumors are real..
First, FYI the BBJ hit at about 3 PM. Not sure of the hand, but a $259 room split and no,I wasn't there yet. Stupid job, I've been paid for many months for doing little more than playing poker and it's hard to adjust to actual work.
I hear they might be adding 10 free seats to the satellite on Saturday November 5th for the noon $340. Ten additional seats is a ton of value and I don't think I can pass up that 9AM game.
This is not a rumor, but the celebrity tournament on Tuesday Oct 18th (I'll be in Tucson) will feature a 25 K guarantee and $100 bounty on any of the celebrities in the game. A Philly radio station sponsored event with Dan Klecko and Ike Reese of NFL fame along with Seth Everett of MLB.com and five WIP radio personalities. Should be a lot of fun. I really don't see an overlay and think the 25K could be smashed. It was last year (350???), but what do I know.
Other rumors and don't take any of this to the bank. The word is K1 and C2 are playing with ideas to add games that are special to DP and not played anywhere .I really don't know much but I wouldn't be surprised to see them do something with the 2/4 limit game like 2/4/6 or 2/4/4/6. That's just me talking, but I know K1 has been listening to some of the LHE guys who post on two plus two. I'd like them to do something like add another middle NL game for those of us that aren't anxious to play a 2/5 game that plays as big as the one at DP. Lots of options they could consider with another game. I know that Parx has played around with a 2/3 NL game without much success. It would also be great to see them bring back the 2 dollar max rake or even less for a bigger LHG...maybe $1.00 for 8/16. I wonder if that would attract the limit player. They would love to see a bigger limit crowd,
I know over time that I have been an ardent supporter of DP and their management, I'm sure that some players think I'm biased. But, there is of course the Borgata and all that it offers. No other place can compete with that and the location of Parx and Ari are top notch. We'll see about Revel. But, for my money, these guys at DP have done everything they can to maximize their location and opportunity, transforming DP into a first class room with more variation and promo's than should be expected considering their location, competition and DP'd lack of hotel and other amenities. The floor staff is great on day shift when I play most often. But, I have a chance to play other rooms and few compare, save for the top ones on the east coast. There's some pretty ugly rake, rooms and management in the rest of the poker world.

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
PLO8 this weekend at Delaware Park. I am officially starting the rumor. I'm bummed I missed it last weekend.
This is fantastic:

They did this Labor day weekend and I busted out a few seats short. The Saturday Super Satellites are awesome.

This could bring me back to limit. The current 2-4 is unplayable.
Harrah's ran a $3 rake special this past week for all their poker games. It seemed to fill there tables during the weekdays. I brought me in when I don't usually play there.
DP has the best deal for rake in the Delaware Valley, but running a rake discount could bring a few player from Harrah's and tempt the weekend crowds to come in during the weekday.

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
Just had my most profitable 1/2 session ever. I walked away with slightly more than $800 profit, turning my $300 BI into just north of $1100 from 12:30 to 4:30 or so. This may not be a ton for plenty of players however I am a nit. In fact, the profit came from only playing maybe ten hands of consequence. It made me leaving my job early a really good decision...
I don't even think I played the huge hand right but here goes:
There is a button straddle and I am in MP with around $450 in front of me. I have two black Queens. With a couple limpers and a really crazy table dynamic, I make it $25 straight.
I get four callers: Bald guy wearing a North Dakota Frozen Four shirt who never stopped talking or playing badly though through suckouts he has only a little less than I do in front of him... Younger black guy nursing a short stack (only $60 left after calliing my PF raise)... And an old passiuve dude with a lot of chips who, just the hand previously, I milked for a decent pot when he made bad calls with a flush draw that didn't hit (also Queens!).
Flop comes out 9 of clubs, 8 of clubs and 5 of hearts. Old guy checks, I bet $75. Bad baldie calls, young black dude goes all-in for his last $59 and old guy calls. So now there is $350ish in the main and a side pot for $48.
Turn comes and it is a ten which completes some draws and could also give someone two pairs, a scare card to be sure. Old guy checks, I debate betting here and I think I probably should especially since I am pretty sure at least one person of the three in the hand is on a club draw but the only bet that makes sense with $350ish in front of me is an all-in and I am a little worried about the turn card so I check.
Baldie says "Oh, that will never do" and bets $50 into the $400 pots. Old guy calls. I contemplate a shove (I probably should, that bet is sooo weak) but I just call, hoping for a good river.
I got the best card for me on the river, Jack of Spades, giving me the second nuts. It is still possible someone has KQ (baldie was a really bad player) but with me having the Queen of clubs, it is less likely. Old dude checks, I shove my $300 bucks.
Baldie starts to hem and haw. This doesn't make me happy or unhappy because he did this with relatively strong hands before as well as weak ones. Finally he says "I have to call you." I ask the dealer, "Is that a call?" and the dealer does not reply becaue baldie starts babbling on about a million things with the word "call" in it. I was dying and getting a little pissed off but didn't want to be a dick. I thought I wanted that call but he could have been playing games and eventually I decided we were probably chopping.
Finally, he actually does call. Old dude thinks for a shorter period before folding. I table my straight to the queen and baldie says "Well, that beats me." He had K7 of clubs - missed his flush draw, caught the ass-end of the straight and paid me off. All-in black dude mucks. I never find out what old dude had but it doesn't matter, I just dragged my biggest 1/2 pot.
Okay, brag is over. If anyone wants to critique the hand, I know this isn't the forum for it, but I also know that some of you canot resist...

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
One thing happened as well this morning that I wanted to bring up. I was in the Big Blind and the UTG player to my left made it $5 straight. A few players called, most folded and when it got to me, I saw that I had a Q6 offsuit which I folded.
I looked at my phone for a second and while I did this, the dealer made change for everyone as if it was a $2 bet and not a $5 raise and nobody said anything. With $8 in the pot, including the $2 BB that I had folded, I flopped what would have been top two had I not folded.
Another player mentioned that the pot wasn't right and as my attention went from my phone to the game and I saw what happened, I was not pleased that I had folded my big blind when the pot was not raised as was announced.
The dealer, who was a bit slow (both dealing and on the uptake), said he didn't hear a raise called and that nobody said anything when he made change. I said "I wouldn't have folded my big blind without a raise!" Plus other players all said that there was a raise, including the guy who raised it.
I was in a delicate situation because I did not want to say what I had given the hand was still live. I thought I had a case to get my $2 back, maybe. If nothing else, the pot was wrong, we couldn't play the hand with the pot wrong.
Regardless, the dealer was trying/hoping to make it go away and would not call the floor when I asked for him once and then again during the communication which made me a little angry.
The UTG raiser asked me why I cared. Without saying "I smashed the flop" (again, I was trying to not say what I had) I simply said that I folded two dollars I didn't have to and in lieu of getting the cards back, I wanted my $2 back and maybe the pot should be adjusted.
I never did get a ruling. Another player, just not wanting to waste time on it, went to give me $2 if I would just stop. I decided I didn't want to delay the game and I also didn't want the player's two bucks so I gave it back to him and dropped it, but I still was not pleased with how the dealer handled it (and I wonder how the floor would have dealt with things had I not gave up.)

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
fwiw- the floor isn't giving you your bb back. They are either going to let the hand play out, tiny chance of making everyone call the raise. Since the guy didn't speak up, it's going to just play out as is.
-------
@ laymedown; I like playing at DP, but for me driving an hour there over borgata? no brainer, borgata every time. If they were to do something drastic like $1max rake for 8/16 or 10/20 and the game was going to get off the ground, I would make the trip down. That said if the game was short $1 rake < 3/half time, so it would need to be full for it to be in the players best interest.

The most correct thing is to let the raise stand; everybody puts the $3 change back. If the dealer makes the bet $2, that is a change in action after your fold. If you can identify your cards, they should be pulled from the muck. You are being way to nice only asking for your BB back.

Re: Delaware Park (Wilmington, DE)
Friday night was some insane PLO action. Lot of folks at the table were planning on returning Saturday night for PLO8. I would not be surprised if PLO8 runs tonight. I plan on playing.
