How many entrants do they usually get for their 7pm sunday tourney?

I'm calling shenanigans on the bounty tournaments. For the record, I raised this issue with the floor as soon as the prize pool info was displayed, and I was shown the fine print from the flyer as justification for what they did . . .

The 4pm on Saturday, as I understood it, was a $100 tourney, which included the $25 bounty chip. There were two flyers in the room that mentioned the event. The first was a summary of all the bounty events for the weekend, indicating that the 4pm was indeed a $100 tourney with a $25 bounty. The more detailed flyer specifically for the tournament indicated that the 4pm was an "$80* buy-in + $15 entry fee +$5 staff bonus" tournament (http://delawarepark.com/pdf/August_12/$100$20%20Bounty.pdf), with the asterisk denoting that the buy-in included a $25 bounty.

There were 136 entries into the tournament. When the prize pool info came up, I thought something was wrong, since it indicated only $6939 was in the pool. I broke out my calculator and ran the numbers:

136 * $55 = $7480 * .95 (5% auto-withheld staff appreciation) = $7106.

But the monitors showed only $6936 in the pool.

The reason for the difference is that DP included the bounties when calculating the 5% staff appreciation bonus. So:

136 * $80 = $10880 *.95 = $10336 - (136 * 25) = $6936.

This is just dirty. I've only played bounty tournaments at the borgata, but I can tell you all that the pool is certainly NOT calculated like this in their tournaments.

Yea, I've noted before in this thread that they aren't very open and clear about how much they take out for the house and dealers. Then it annoys me when they aggressively ask for dealers tips from those who cash. It's a lot of money coming out of the buy in.

based on the above, that is why i only tip the dealers about 3% of a cash

if they do not like it, they can either seek alternative employment or talk to their management about it

So there's a 5% staff bonus plus 5% staff appreciation plus let's calculate in an odd way (steal) some more.

Players accepting a lot of abuse here.

Just took a look at the October schedule, first thing that sticks out is the
Spoiler:
SUNDAY NOON tourney is no longer a GUARANTEED prize pool.
Why? That was one of the best if not the best tourney they had weekly. It was actually one of the few that reached it's guarantee in buy ins just about every week, save for a few here and there when other casinos had big promos going. I hope this is not because of the debacle that was their DEEP STACK weekend, were I believe only one ,maybe two tourneys got to it's guarantee. Not the best way to reward your regular tourney players at all. I can only speak for myself, but I would feel comfortable saying that most of the regulars feel the same way about the Sunday Noon Tourney, bring back the guarantee!

If anyone else has a thought on this subject please let other poker players know about it,and certainly voice your opinion to the poker room staff.

MichaelOar - Chester PA does a similar thing with prize pool and bounties. I really can't explain the calculation, but it is also not what is expected because of the how the bounties figured into the prize pool. A player @ Chester pointed it out.

Also - It's time for the dealers and floor people to stop being so miserable. If you haven't noticed, there's been a clear migration away from DP to other places and if they keep up this grumpy ****, then there's going to be no poker @ DP after MD opens. If you don't like your job, then too bad. No one wants to hear it. Most of the degens there are already habitually miserable, or smell miserable, and the place doesn't need more bad attitudes without the good humor or friendly ball-busting. There's only a handful of staff like this, about 10-18 of them - LOL.

EDIT: Let me add that DP staff seem to be responsive to stuff, so make your voice heard about any problem or compliment. I've given them my (mostly good) feedback, but the place is failing to complete with the place that rhymes with Flarrah's Milfadelphia staff lately. This can change.

I'm not sure I could disagree more with this post.

I played at DP all day and night on Saturday. I played 1/2 NLHE, 4/8 O8, and three tournaments. I encountered only one dealer during that time who seemed at all incompetent and even he seemed to be polite to the players. I also encountered multiple dealers who were friendly and highly competent. I also saw three floor rulings during my time at the tables. Both of them were handled respectfully and professionally and, in my opinion, concluded with a correct ruling.

Further discrediting your post, I heard from the O8 regulars that they've complained to floormen and management for months about there being no must-move procedure for the O8 games and there has been no movement on the issue.

So it seems to me like the dealers and floormen are courteous, have good attitudes, and are competent, but that the floormen and management are not interested in making adjustments based on the suggestions of their regular customers.

(The one thing I agree on is the smell of some of the regulars: I sat next to two players at the O8 game whose breath I found to be so offensive that I had to turn my body entire body away from them.)

And they dropped the first Saturday 5-added seat bonus. Which is too bad, since that incentive is a key reason for me to come up that Saturday from deep in MD. Looks like they shifted that incentive for the monthly challenge series which mainly rewards local regulars who have easy access to DP. As for the Sunday dropped guarantee, probably they figure they get high crowds for the football games anyways so the guarantee isn't needed during the season.

The difference is like night and day; literally. When you show up in the mornings, the dealers are great. The weekend night crew is miserable. DP has some of the best, friendliest dealers. It seems the good dealers get rewarded with the day shift. I am morning person, so it works for me.

Sad to see those 5 added seat go away. Also disappointed to see no non-NHLE tourney on the schedule. Maybe November?

The WIP celebrity bounty tourney could be fun. Wondering if the celebs have any extra bounty?

All in all DP is the best around for tourneys. Doesn't seem like they got too creative with the October schedule.

Be there at 11.30 (in order to be there at 11.30, you need to park in the parking lot at 11.15)

I agree with Rapini - I was there for 15 hours Saturday into Sunday getting my Free Roll hours in playing O8 and the dealers seemed fine to me - one new one and a couple who don't seem interested in learning O8 but the players run the game anyway. All the dealer needs to do is get the hands out and stack the chips.

This business about not having a must move table is ridiculous and imo does confirm that management doesn't care. I did however note that they had a list of 7 to 8 players most of the evening and didn't call a second game - which would have killed the existing one. I don't know if that means they are learning or just ran out of dealers.

Thanks for the heads up about the bad breath.

this is bad

i played on the first Saturday of each month last year during football last season because of this, i got in the $340.00 tourney 6 months in a row because of this bonus

i was just there this Labor Day weekend because of the bonus seats

on, October 6, i will not be at DP & probably will never go back now because without the added seats there is less +EV

business is definitely slow & this is supposed to be the busy time of the year for them

i live in NJ and will just go to AC or Parx

was there on monday for my birthday -- two others played in the noon who had a birthday as well

turnout was meh (40 people i believe)

they have changed the bad beat to the standard pay the table only now. I think this is a good thing; holding up the whole room for 2 hours to pay everyone 175 bucks was dumb

Why did the 1st week of the month Saturday tourney go from 20k guaranteed to 30k?

Perhaps it was 30k in the past, so if this is the case, then they are reducing their incentives probably because they get sufficient Saturday traffic already, and they want to deploy their incentives budget to other projects, such as the new monthly challenge series.

I've been going up once a week on either a Tuesday Wednesday or Thursday and this is the first time I've been there and it was running. iirc it was a 10/20 mixed

It was 1/2 PLO with a $5 bring in and 10/20 O8 with a half kill at $100. It was a great game and a ton of fun. We will often add crazy pineapple as well but one of the players didn't want it.

Come on up and start an interest list if your in the area. It has gone 4 of the last 5 Wednesday afternoons. There are at least 4-5 of us that will play every Wednesday.

As a side note anyone who wants to play please don't be afraid to play short handed to help start the game. The hardest thing is getting is started, but once it goes it usually fills up.

(I looked for comments from last year's event, but there was nothing post event about the turnout)
