Re: Delaware Park Poker Room News

I was at Table 13, seat 4 from about 2:00pm until 7:00pm. Were you the (relatively) young guy with blond hair and (I think) listening to music? If so, you played well.

Re: Delaware Park Poker Room News

Just wanted to say that I think the tournament seat give away is a great idea. I was lucky enough to win one on Friday. The Delaware Park Poker Room is the best in the area. I have played in Poker Rooms in Atlantic City and Las Vegas and Delaware Park ranks right up there with the best of them.

Hopefully the DP Poker Room Staff will continue to promote the room with great ideas.

Next time I would like to see pineapple or crazy pineapple at a table.

Yea, that was me. I'm having a tough time placing you right now but you were the one who checked down when the J hit on the river hitting the obvious straight for the guy beside me if I remember right in one hand. The game started to get more fun once a few guys on your side of the table started playing back at me later in the day. There were a few hands I got counterfeited on or just crushed by the river but I can't really complain I guess. I'll probably be back some around thanksgiving weekend a day or two so give me a nod or something if you see me if you don't mind.

I guess the 8/16 isn't getting any traction there since I was the interest list for the entire day. Guess 4/8 is a lil better than 3/6 at least.

How is the crowd midweek? What time does it usually die down at?

OK - I wasn't going to share my bad beat story, but I guess it does serve to show how bad some 4/8 players are and how much they will chase. 7 or so to the flop, I have 55 in LP. Flop is 57T. #9 seat checks, EP bets, MP raises, and I make it 3 bets with my set. #9 seat stands up, stares at the board and calls the 3 bets!!! The turn was something harmless like a K (2 checks, I bet, 2 callers), and the river was an ugly J (and also put 3 hearts on the board if someone chased runner-runner) so after they both check I checked the river and was correct in my check as #9 seat had 89o and hit his straight on the river for a $90 pot. That's OK - he had donated most of it back (some of it to me) by the time I left.

ehh he is getting a little over 3 to 1 odds on an openender, with the implied odds he may not be too off depending on how many hearts flopped. Then with only 1 bet on the turn he has to call to see the river there. But, like you said in the long run he will pay it back!

Re: Delaware Park Poker Room News

Played in a great 2-5NL yesterday. The action is unbeliveable. Won $2100.00.
My wife won $290.00 in 1-2 NL.
Anyone been to PARX? I heard the action there is great also.

Doubt it makes you feel any better but very few people seemed to leave that table up much of anything so at least you had something to take away from the game. Anytime I leave a low stake game up I'm usually happy. I just play these days to pitch cards when I fold and attempt to build obnoxious stacks of one dollar chips usually when football games are on.

The game ended up breaking around 745ish I think once the Dallas game wrapped up and me and the guy with the tourney ticket left. It was nice playing with you tho.

The tourney's have been weak lately. It's not worth it. Prize money is terrible for all the time you put in.
Borgata has the best tourneys.

I played the 11PM yesterday (Monday), there were 3 tables which seem a perfect little tournament at that time of day, I busted in 5th or so around 2AM so the thing should be done around 3AM. I liked the structure very well actually for this time of day.

As always the game was run very well.

I won my entry into the tourney playing 2/5 and i can only say, which room has promos this nice?! I'm actually seeing some of my BatBeat money.

Re: Delaware Park Poker Room News

played both 1/2 in the morning and 4/8 2.00 max rake in the afternoon. Had a great time as usual. Dealers are complaining that their hours are being cut back, which is too bad, but the room is not as full as I'd like it to be.

I don't know if the "big" game that was planned got off last Saturday, but I was told by a shift supervisor that there is another very big 10/20 NL Omaha 08 game scheduled to play this Friday at 7 PM.

Riches to rags to riches true story from yesterday. One of the regulars in the 2/5 game was on a cooler finding himself down $5,000. He went to play 2/4 limit with his last $100. Ran that up to two and stepped into a 1/2 NL game. Worked that up to $600 and bought back in to the 2/5 game and cashed out in the AM at around 11 with about 6,000. He was back in the afternoon playing that friggin crazy action 2/5 game. Does the man ever sleep?

I don't know, yesterday afternoon they had 12ish tables going at 3p. I think that's pretty good for a Tuesday afternoon in Delaware. Del Park isn't getting the Philly traffic anymore, so I think they've maximized what they can get.

I agree, the promo's are great. Played 1/2 NL yesterday before 10 AM. Everytime someone looked at their watch after getting cards between 9:30 and 10:00 AM, you had to wonder if they were looking at AA. AA seemed to be played with a standard four times the blind preflop raise and then pretty much checked down. One guys gets four callers making it ten preflop and still couldn't get beat. The $100 aces cracked promo between 2AM and 10 AM makes aces play a little different. You either go for the big win or check it down for the loss, depending on the board. If you win, it's a fifty plus pot and if you lose, it's a 100. It's kind of interesting.

I'm really looking forward to the 25,000 freeroll next month.

I agree, it's about location. And the game of poker needs some new players and location is really key. Look at Harrah's Chester which put a big dent into the players at DP. Nobody had anything good to say about the set up, except it was closer. The rake is higher. The tables crowded. The floor less attentive.

Hey guys at DP, how about advertising poker classes. You guys have floors/dealers that could do poker 101 and try to help some players enter the pool. At the 4/8 game you see, from time to time, people that don't know a blind from the dark and they spill their chips usually pretty quick. Those guys don't come back because poker is a losing proposition for them. The young guy who learned their game on line is not the people I'm taking about. Even the older computer literate players can get on line lessons and experience playing with free chips. But, there is a pool of forty something plus, both men and women, who could play regularly if they could only figure out how to win once in four or five trips. And maybe they're there playing slots now or sitting on the third floor watching/betting football. Sunday morning hour long poker class between 11:30 and 12:30 (don't want to miss a nfl game) advertised to those guys might run? Think? Use a table in the tournament room and go through the basics, helping the less knowledgeable pick up the basics and helping them understand how card selection/position will affect the outcome. Their biggest problem is they play EVERY two cards and hit a pair without a kicker, can't let go of anything and leave with nothing or sometimes everything once in a blue moon. I like them while they're there, but they don't come back.

Think I'll give DP a break and head back to the Taj $10-20 LHE and 7CS over Thanksgivings.
silly...... a fast dealer is not the problem, a dealer thast makes mistakes is a problem. Fast or slow. The dealer has to wait on you, if you think its too fast just take your time..
