I'm going to try to get out. But, been playing every weekend (and on a cooler) and my wife is annoyed about my disappearance from home life. 3 cars who's oil needs changing @ Jiffylube and so forth. Most of the floors know me, so ask any of them. I want to clean up next weekend for a 3 day play, so unless she finds something to do, I'm on a chain.

I use the entrance on Kirkwood highway.

You take the street opposite of the Hess gas station, go straight through the next light, the road will wrap around and you'll be at the Park.

You then walk under a little bridge and then you will be right near the elevator that takes you up to the poker room.

Use entrance by Christiana hospital, spend $4 to valet mid building at horse simulcast area. Walk straight in for horses, or to left ramp to door near band stand, escalator to poker room to right behind band stage.

Car will moved to slot area valet during the night (4am?).

BTW, football parlays you haven't cashed yet can be cashed from noon to 9:30pm.

:-D

I also use this entrance every time. Always a little nervous leaving late at night, but I have seen visible security presence the last couple of times.

Great 4/8 omaha 8 game last night. We had a mostly full table all night from like 8 until I left about 12:30. Very good quality table, with 5-6 to most flops and people paying off the nuts pretty routinely. I started way down as usual, but made a nice comback in the last hour to finish up $50. We did not play with a kill as 3 players said no.

The 4/8 limit ran early, but broke at probably like 10PM. The 4/8 Omaha 8 definitely cannibalized as at least three of us moved over there when it was called.

There was a list for 5/10 mixed but it never got called and I don't think it got over 5 names. I would have added my name at 4/8, but not at 5/10.

I always valet, safety first. You don't want to bust a degenerate who follows you to your car. It's cheap use it.

I'm sure I'm jumping the gun here, but I've already put it in my calendar assuming that what I think is right, is in fact....... right.

This is the way I overheard the preliminary structure for a "March 16, 2011 Bracket Tournament". I may not be supposed to post, but my Alzheimer's is a terrible thing. If I don't have it now, I'm sure to have it if anyone gets a little mad at me about this post. The problem with the management knowing my two plus two identity is they know my identity.

$150 Entry Fee

You are going to want to read this twice. It's not very hard to understand, but more complicated to write. For me, it's a "MUST PLAY"

It will be a bracket style tournament similar to the NCAA Final Four Tournament. There will be celebrities scattered throughout the tournament each with a $100 Bounty on their heads..... get those guys.

Round One Bracket- Ten handed - Thirty two tables (capped at 320 Players). Their will be 2 time starts for round 1, 5PM and 7PM - 16 tables each.

Each table will play down to two players who move onto the next round.

Round Two Bracket – 6 handed – 16 Tables. The winners from round 1 will account for 4 of the 6 players for round 2. Each table will play down to two players who move onto the next round.

Wild Card Entries – Just because you were eliminated in round one doesn't mean you are out of the tournament. The names of all eliminated players will be placed in a raffle drum. Two names will be selected to join each of the 16 tables in round 2 (32 total wild cards).

Round Three Bracket

6 handed – 8 Tables. The winners from round 2 will account for 4 of the 6 players for round 3. Again there will be 2 wild cards drawn per table. (Eliminations from round 2 will be added to the raffle drum) Each table will play down to two players who move onto the next round.

Round Four Bracket

6 handed – 4 Tables. The winners from round 3 will account for 4 of the 6 players for round 4. Again there will be 2 wild cards drawn per table. (Eliminations from round 3 will be added to the raffle drum) Each table will play down to THREE players who move onto the next round.

Round Five Bracket (Money Round) (No Wild Cards)

6 handed – 4 Tables. The winners from round 3 will account all 6 players for round 5. Payout's begin with eliminations. Each table will play down to THREE players who move onto the Final Table.

First prize is guaranteed to be $10,000 + a seat in the Delaware Park Poker Classic ($1,070)

Its Not Over Yet!!

At the completion of the final table, all players who participated in the event will have their names placed in the raffle drum. Six names will be chosen. Those six will play in a single table tournament, with the winner receiving a seat in the 2011 Main Event at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Theoretically, a player can win $11,070 from the main tournament, then an additional $10,000 seat in the WSOP. That’s 21,070 for a $150 Buy-In

It's not nearly as complicated as I've written it (i'm not that bright), but I've never seen anything like this before. It's way too cool and gives players a chance at cashing for really good money and a chance to win a trip to the World Series...... all for 150 bucks.

Count me in!

It went over today for exactly two hours. Blah. Got the chain cut, but there is a price.

While I was there I found out some things about the tournament above. As usual I'm almost right, but not quite. The date is right (March 16) and it will be a "Radio Celebrity" event, with the local radio station giving away some seats to callers. I'm not sure which station, but assume it's the same one (WYSP)that DP partnered with before in their Celebrity Event last fall. Eight Celebrity paticipants. Again, this is stuff I'm not involved in and the actual tournament schedule is going to be the bible when it comes out in the room. Apparently, DP has an issue partnering up and giving a seat to the WSOP Main event when they're located as close as they are to a Harrah's property. So, they've partnered up with the Venetian in Vegas instead. The six seats awarded for the play to that seat will instead be to the summer "Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza". That's a $5000 buy in, but instead of simply the buy in, the winner of the six seat table will get that buy in, 4 or 5 nights (can't remember) at the Venetian, spending money and air fare, which will still come out to about that "buy in" of $10,000 that would have been for the WSOP. Last year, it played on 6/17, but I think it might be July this year. It's not listed on their web site yet.

2010 Venetian $5,000 NLH Main Event $25,000 starting chips. I assume 90 minutes blinds, as that was it was last year. http://www.venetian.com/uploadedFile...08_NoLimit.pdf

Spike, it's always up as 5/10, but could play 4/8. Remember, the guys that seat have all the control. A couple of guys asked me if the game would go tonight while I was there. I'm going to try to schedule it next weekend, but today, I was so limited in time, that I couldn't really play that game, so didn't even add my name to the list.

A few other things I asked about while I was there tonight. The cash/tournament room flip is still up in the air on timing. The hold up is all about electronics and could be almost anytime between the end next week and March 1. The cover all board will go up as soon as the room flips.

Made my first trip to DP yesterday. Got there around 10 in the morning and left after 6 p.m. There were three cash tables running when I arrived. By mid afternoon the cash room was full. I entered the noon tourney and it was very well run. I must admit that everything Layemdown has said here is dead on - this room is very well run. The floors were great. Spoke to the floor manager and he was very hospitable. These guys are great - they run a very good room. The tournament was nuts with the re-entries up to the first break people were playing very loose. I was completely card dead (almost the entire day - but that's another story) and got knocked out early and had an absolutely great time.

I went over to the cash room and was surprised how fast they got tables and dealers on to keep the wait times down to a minimum. Was able to nurse my initial buyin for a couple hours of play and left to play a few SNG's will a minimal loss at the cash table. The two SNG's were also great - fast and sweet. Some players did not switch from cash mode to SNG mode very well and were knocked out fairly quickly. The tourney room which will soon be the poker room is very nice. I love the window view and open feeling (and no bells from slots!).

I think they should work on promoting the SNG games more. There were over 170 entries in the daily noon game but they had trouble getting the SNGs going. Coming from Maryland I can't see why anyone would incur the extra time, miles, tolls, and gas to get to AC - unless you need to be at the beach. From now on it's DP for me.

Glad you had a good experience.

I don't have any experience with the SNGs, so I can't comment on that..but yes, the floor managers are superb and do a great job!

A Nice Visit to DP - Trip Summary

Hello All,

I visited DP to start accumulating hours for the Freeroll. I would like to play the same on March 8th. Between Sat'day and Sunday I logged in around 4.7 Hours (Hmm..... I wonder how can I make it 25!). The following are my toughts:

DP has a great tournament room. I played in one of the main events when they opened and finished in the money. I really like their tournament room and the tournament room chips.

Met the floor manager of the poker room and the man... the myth... Anthony. Both were pleasant and very helpful. Anthony said this week/next week is totally dedicaded for the meetings to finalize the switch (cash room to tournament room). I didn't get a chance to say hai to Layem (we missed by a few minutes I believe).

Felex/Layem, I played in four events. Sat'day/Sunday Noon and Midnight. Finished in the money on Sunday in both. The most exciting part was won a free seat giveaway for the Sunday Midnight (for correctly moving to Seat 3 like 10 minutes before the announcement from Seat 4, as 3 is my lucky number).

Midnight Tournament Recap:
This is an exciting format where everyone is after your Bounty Chip. So, the betting is a little aggressive as they like force you to commit your whole stack to win the bounty. I got lucky when I called short stack's all in (AQ) with my pocket 7's. I figured he was looking for a good spot to shove his last few. The board came out all low, 7 high, nice.. I hit a Set. Not that I needed by the river the board paired and turned my set into a boat. So, the floor came over and handed my $20 in chips.

I played solid showing AJ+ or higher when I raised. We started with 33-35 on Sunday night. I went into the final table as one of the top three stacks. We knocked out one guy, with a medium stack who rushed out of the room saying he was bored and didn't feel like playing anymore. Really... You shove because you are bored to sit at the final table... hmmm... strange.

Top 5 were getting paid with 550+ as the top prize. I got one more bounty on the final table when I called a a short stacks all in (15-20% of my chips) with AK. He went all in with Q9 Suited. The board finished with pair of jacks.

Then there were 8. It became like a friendly game by then and everyone decided to call it a day and split. They all agreed to pay $60 for the top three above the equal share. Three people ended up with 240 and the rest 175. With three bounties (two knockouts and my chip) - $10 tip I ended up with 290. Not a bad deal considering I didn't even pay for the tourny.

Sunday Afternoon:
Went into to the final table as a chip leader and got knocked out in 6th in the clash of the big stacks. Bad read on my part, I was pressing the aggressive button to end the hand on the flop and he made a hero call after thinking forever. It paid me 300 for my ill efforts.

Considering I was down to my last 1500 in chips in Level 4 I was really happy the way I played to reach the final table. During the course of the tournament I shoved for a total of 12 times showing the nuts every single time when I was called.

As I mentioned earlier I really like their tournaments and their tourny room and I am looking forward to playing the freeroll in March and the big event in April.

Hope to see some of you next time I am there. I am pretty sure I will bump in Felex and Layem next time.

Have to say I am not really happy with the cash/tournament room flip. I am a tournament player a majority of the time. I know I am in the minority with this opinion. The cash room is where the casino makes the money and you want to keep those players happy. Plus the extra 5? tables will help on the wait lists for cash. I have my selfish reasons but I will continue to play at DP. Looking forward to the tournament series in April. Have my eye on 4/7 $20000 guarantee and a tournament the following week. Possibly the Six Handed NLH.
Will the flip hold true for the Tournament Series or will the flip the rooms back for large tournaments?

Remember, it's not a total flip. the 5 extra tables will allow them to play tournaments and cash games in the same room during the week. The tournaments will only be moved on weekends or maybe overflow, so the guys who are real comfortable in the tournament room will still be able to play there during the week. I don't blame you....overlooking the paddock...nice area. There will just a little more action around on weekdays. The plan is to add tables to the tournament room and move it all there....sometime in the future. One spot for poker makes economic sense from a staffing point of view.

I had a friend go to DP on Friday evening for some poker. I chatted with him via IM on Monday, and I asked him "how did it go?". Here is what he wrote:

yea it really didn't go
it really kinda sucked
so i sat at the 4/8 table around 7
and only played for an hour and a half until the table broke up
i was kinda upset at them because we had a full table and then they pulled 3 players off bc they opened a 4/8 omaha game
so then i went over and played at the 2/4 table for a while
and i freaking hate that game
no foldem holdem at its finest

I was one of those three. I can understand why he was upset. If I was playing against me, I would certainly not want to see myself pulled off of a game because that would make one less soft spot at the table - LOL.

We need to make the case to bring back the 3/6.

1/2 PL0 goes just about every weekend on Friday nights and Saturday, as does 4/8 Omaha 08. I'm hoping that mixed runs this weekend.
