No straddles for 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5... we call them "blind raises" instead. So it was a 1/3 game with a blind raise to $6, a blind reraise to $12, a blind 4bet to $24 and a blind 5bet to $48.

If you want to play with a live straddle, you need to play 5/5 or above.

In other news, I've been playing 2/5 a lot recently and I find that the games are just as soft as 1/3, just with a few more competent regs here and there. I don't think the games at Crown get tough until you move to 5/5+. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is there really anything above 5/5?

Yeah there's a 5/10/20 that plays most evenings (buyin $600-$2k), except not usually Monday/Tuesday evenings. You won't find anything higher than that though, unless there's a tournament running (eg. Aussie Millions, ANZPT, Joe Hachem event, etc.) or unless people are feeling particularly degenerate one day (like you might randomly see a 100/100 PLO game running on a Monday evening, but it doesn't happen very often).

Hey guys, I've just arrived in Melbourne, is there anyone here that could help exchange aud for skrill/stars? Send me a PM, thanks

There's been a $10/$20 cash game running recently instead of the previous $5/$10/$20. This 10/20 has a $1k-$3k buyin and you pay time every hour instead of paying rake. I'm glad Crown made this change. It seems so much more logical having 10/20 blinds and I love the 150bb buyin cap too for those who enjoy deep-stacked poker.

Why not just withdraw your Stars fund, get cash, then go to a foreign currency converter?

Just to confirm, you can wear headphones at the tables right? Also wondering, if I were to bring food with me, would there be facilities/microwave to heat food up!?

Yes, you can wear headphones at the table. No communal microwaves for heating food up and I've never seen anyone ask for brought in food to be heated. I would suspect the request would be met with a look of "Are you ****ing serious?"

I ask because I'm planning on playing there full time and w the rake, having to pay big bucks for 2-3 meals a day/session, it cannot be +EV. I also consume around 4k calories a day and try to hit specific macros. It's not really feasible to buy food there every day. Any suggestions?

eat before you go there and take one prepped meal with you that you can eat cold. take some protein bar, nuts and some apples with you in case you need top up.

Due to an unfortunate series of events and the fact that because Of work I can't get a ride to the beech house where most of my friends are going, there is a real possibility I might not have any parties that I can go to except a couple I don't really want to.

So I'm wondering if I should try atleast get something beneficial out of it. Is there poker running on New Year's Eve and is it super profitable to play then. I probably can't afford more than about 500 at the moment though

The games do run through NYE and the room will be packed. Games stop around 11.50pm to give all players the chance to go outside and watch the fireworks and get going again when everyone returns (half an hour or so). There has been the occasional stack go missing from tables on NYE when everyone leaves so, this time only, take your stack with you.

re hot food, put it in some container that will keep the food warm. Pretty sure there's some good discussion about live poker in the Live Poker forum.

Like put a tupperware container into some sort of heat-maintaining container?

Apparently it's Geelong. But it doesn't matter now, I managed to swap my shift so I'm not working late, which gives me a few options for lifts now.

Thanks for all the responses

ok, I went there and 1/2 are running but maximum buy in is still just 50bb. there is kind of short time limit for making a decision, like 30 seconds? you can buy extra time for 1$ (that was on 1/3) twice per hand, not sure if you get extra 30 secs or 1 minute. But I liked it because it is making the game faster

Don't see 1/2 changing max buy-in anytime, so it will remain $50-$100 for the foreseeable future. It used to be $60 flat buy-in. During the Aussie Millions in some previous years, 1/2 has not run in January as tables were needed for larger cash games.

1/2 and 1/3 are considered turbo games, you get 20 seconds in total to act on any street. The dealer will count 10 seconds in their head then announce 10 seconds and start a clock timer. If you require more time, you can throw in $1 and say "Time". Each player can do this twice per hand. For example you could use it once on the flop and once on the river, or you could throw in $2 on the river and get a minute to make your decision.

what actually is the rake at 1/2? also apparently you can't have time on 1/2, I was playing there and a guy threw a dollar in for time and the dealer said their was no time at 1/2.

so how beatable would 1/2 actually be? what about 1/3? I'm a uni student and have about 2 and a half thousand dollars to my name, so I don't really think I have the bankroll at crown.

I'll just stick to online.

and whats the friday freezeout tourney like? whats average stack throughout?
