I mentioned dealing a 2-5 nl to the early morning crew today and they all looked at me like I'm crazy.

Ha! I bet they did. On rare occasions, a weekday 1-2 game with a few 2-5 players can be the best game there. Your best bet is to ask if anybody minds removing the buy in cap. If everyone agrees you can then add on and play as big as you want. A 1/3 can be good too. I imagine that we've played together there if you're a reg

This one guy Mike has a good list of plo players. Im gonna do the same for 2-5 nl and see if i can get it going.

I went here a few weeks ago and lost a few buy ins. This room seemed tougher then what i'm used to for 1/2. Who are the reg players I should be avoiding? Maybe I just had a bad table but it seemed that most players knew what they were doing with only a few playing badly. Even the loose players had some skill. Should I avoid this room or was that just a bad draw of a table? I think one older 50's black guy with a leather jacket was doing well, as well as some skinny 30's Italian guy and some fat late 20's guy with a beard.

It's really not that different or worse than your average 1/2 game imo. My only gripe is that they let people buy in for 20bb.

Since the player pool is so limited, it's easy to get a feel for how this bunch plays. It took me several trips to realize the following. These players aren't going to fold to a complex bluff so don't try. If they have top pair then they're probably looking you up. Cbetting is a must here as to adjust to their nitty post flop play. There are a mix of about 6-8 players in this room who will play back at you with air, but most are gonna play very straightforward

Played there Friday night, for the first time in forever. Not a fan of the new room set up. Was told that it was due to the "Table tax" that the room pays the county.

Anyways, the good news was that I quadrupled my buy-in in less than 2 hours, the bad news was I missed a "bulls-eye" on a flopped set of 5s (first hand of my night and more than doubled up off of it, so I cannot gripe too much)

Played some 1-2 nl on Wednesday afternoon and out of no where a private 5-10 nl game opened. Apparently a bunch of players from a game in Georgia that got busted. Anyways DavidTth I think Wednesday would be the best weekday to try and start up 5-10 nl there. There were definitely players wanting to play once it got started, plus there were people waiting. The game is supposed to run every week.

Creek Entertainment is Gretna is hosting another 20k guarantee. Last time they ran this the tournament got 187 players and had a top prize of over 10k. Buyin is 250$ and there is a 20$ dealer addon... Although you typically can buyin for less given they run so many satellites that are sold for cheaper.

If that 5-10 keeps running with the guys from Georgia - it will be a very good game.

High variance, but juicy.

The 5-10 nl didn't run this week... 1-3 nl games have been running just about everyday now. that game is uncapped and the player composition is excellent. A 1-3 nl got going Tuesday around 1pm and ran till close at 3am. Hoping this trend of bigger games during the week days continues. Cant really drive daily to Jax, Biloxi, Tampa, Daytona Beach, etc for bigger games. Its just too far.

It was my understanding that this is a private game that requires an invite, even if there are open seats. Am I wrong?

Yes it was a private game, but there were 'invited' players waiting to get a seat and local Gretna players willing to play 5-10 nl as well. Problem was there weren't enough to get a second table started. I suggest you show up Wednesday afternoon if youre interested in playing.

20k had 99 runners so the prize pool was 20k as its a 200+50+20. Max value for the house as they netted more than second place prize money. Don't remember payouts exactly but top was 6500. If anyone has results please post them. I'm pretty sure a local tourney grinder took it down but not sure.

Yea a couple of times. Asian fella. Super nice guy. Apparently worth more than he can feasibly lose in a lifetime at CEG. Fun to play with for sure because he plays big, gambles, and is very friendly.
