I'm heading for the WSOPC and won't have a car. Flying into DFW, are there shuttles that run from Dallas? A quick googling says there has been one that picks up at a Kohl's in Plano but I dunno if that still runs. Thanks!

Don’t believe the shuttles run anymore.

Thanks! Ill check when i get in but won't plan on it.

If anyone else is curious, one alternative is that Greyhound runs a bus from Dallas to Durant once a day, and an Uber from the Durant Greyhound station to Choctaw is ~$15.

Just checked / confirmed that Choctaw is playing 6 handed per table due the Virus.

Masks are encouraged but not required as of this date.

Anyone know if the 2020 Choctaw Classic is still going to happen this month?

Does anyone know if they are still doing the poker room rate for the rooms there? It used to be if you played 5 hours you'd get a reduced rate on your room.

This was posted in one of the local Poker forums (DFW area) on facebook

"So very sorry to say Jimmy Sommerfeld has just announced that we have lost Bob Talbot. He re-entered the hospital last month and fought valiantly for a very long time.

Many of you may have known him for his news and insights about the game we love.

Some others who frequented Choctaw saw him wheeling around delivering his famous homemade Beef Jerky, when not at the table.

In any case, Bob was a kind soul who made this world and poker better for us all."

BigTex21, you will be missed.

Went to Choctaw this weekend for some poker and this might be one of the worst ran rooms I’ve seen. Defining it as a **** show doesn’t seem to quite cut it.

Still using dry erase boards for waiting lists, poker tables not numbered, players getting seated by harassing the floor instead of following their lists, constant shouting for chips by dealers because runners can’t seem to do their job.

I will not be playing cash games at this **** hole. Winstar is farrrrrr superior in literally every way.

Since I know and can see the list on Bravo in direct contrast to your claims I must discount the balance of your claims.

Yeah, Durant has used Bravo for 10 years or so. Not sure what this poster is ranting about.

Edit: actually, now that I think about it, when they move the cash games into the big convention room during WPT / WSOP events, they do use a whiteboard and it is definitely is chaos. They may be having one now. The cash games at those times are absurdly profitable though.

I’m not there for this event (WPT), but in prior WSOP Circuits, WPTs, and other tournament series, they have a temporary cash game area that does use an off-line brush with a whiteboard list.

I played two WPT events at Choctaw this week. Tournies had very large number of entries, 600 and 700 for mine. Cash games were in the regular upstairs poker room. Poker room uses Bravo, but they did have issue one evening with it and used white board. Waiting lists weren’t too bad, although both WPT and room could have used more dealers. Played in great $2-5 and $1-3 NLH games. New hotel/casino section opens in August and poker room will move there.

New poker room opening tomorrow or Friday in Choctaw’s new Sky Tower. Website says “more than 30 new tables in a new venue that raises the standard for poker rooms everywhere.” Guess we’ll see.

Any update on the new poker room or how its been running? The Mrs. wanted to go next month because of the pool/resort instead of River spirit in Tulsa. Trying to see if there is more positivity surrounding it now since prior posts seem pretty bad. Thanks

I've played there twice since the new poker room opened, and have had good experiences. Room is nice and plenty of action at the tables running. Recommended checking bravo at days/times similar to when you'll be there to see if there are sufficient games/levels for your liking. Also bravo will show promotions poker room has going on.
[FWIW, I normally play at WinStar at least weekly]

Question about the Choctaw circuit tournaments. Do these 2 day tournaments play down to the money, or final table, or how far do they go on day 1's?

Good question. I looked at the structures from the WSOPC Choctaw in Jan 2022, ant they just said it was TD's discretion. I looked at the updates for $400 2-day ring event #4, and they played 12 hrs from 441 down to 7 on day 1 (24 thirty minute levels).

I have a grand total of two day 2s at Choctaw. So, I'm clearly an expert. In both tourneys the bubble busted about an hour into day 2.

While I'm here...

Anyone have thoughts on how they do their cash games during the series?

It seems to me that the games are not as good when they run next to the tourney in the overflow part of the conference center.

My understanding is that they will be in the regular cash room this series as there is another event scheduled in part of the conference center.

I assume my hourly is higher in the actual cash room, because they get more walk ins by non regs. When it's next to tourney it is way out of the way and non poker players don't find their way in as much.

My adjustment has been just to play tourneys when the cash room is right next door and skip cash altogether.

The upside is that its easy for tourney recs who bust to quickly get in the cash games and not get distracted by slots and table games.

I think its overall good for the cash games. You are going to get more new cash game players from the tourney crowd than the random walk-in gambler.
