While some players continue to boycott Casino Rama because they don't like the BBJ being mixed in with the rake, it continues to be busy during tournament Mondays. There was a huge lineup for the February 22 tournament, which sold out. Some disappointed players offered huge premiums to ticket holders to sell their transferable ticket, just like what happened at WPT Fallsview two weeks ago. If somebody was crazy enough to offer me the price that I later heard the tickets were selling for, I would have been very tempted to sell myself.

Since there is obviously a huge demand in Ontario for $300-$1,100 tournaments, Rama, Fallsview, etc. need to increase the supply, e.g., more seats, alternates, more frequent tournaments or higher buy-ins. Otherwise, the procrastinating gamblers who just wanna play will continue to offer crazy prices, and rational EV-aware players can't say no to a high guaranteed profit!

Just wondering if anyone plays here on a regular basis. I'm usually grinding there on the weekends. I heard there are changes coming in regards to the bad beat jackpot but not sure of details.

I haven't played at Rama in years. Is the 2/5 NL game a timed rake or 6+1 like 1/2 NL is? Thanks.

How many tables of 2/5nl on a friday or Saturday? Ever get 5/10nl running?

i play 1/2 but i'd say avg 2 or 3 2/5NL tables on Saturday. Like 10 1/2NL tables and some 1/2 2/5 limit. $5/10NL is rare but happens from time to time.

Is anybody else going to Rama today, March 9? The $285+$15 tournament will keep the cash games busier than Woodbine as usual.

Anyone know if Rama does any sit n go's or smaller tournaments than the advertised $300 ones?

I'd like to get involved in a live tournament or sit n go but not being a really advanced player......don't want to break the bank in the process.

Only $300 MTTs at Rama. Brantford and Woodbine have some tournaments < $300. http://www.olgslotsandcasinos.ca/cal...ategory/poker/

How is poker at Rama these days? I am heading up there Friday night if anyone wants to get a 5/10+ game running. Also how are the wait times for getting a seat at 2/5?

I was at Rama last Friday, we had 3x 2/5 from about 6pm-midnight, then it was down to 2 2x2/5. We had a 5/10 list but it never got more serious then 3-4 people.

Beware that the rake on all cash games is increasing to $10 maximum (from $6) at Casino Rama effective today, June 15 at 10:30 am! This is the highest rake in Ontario casinos. Needless to say, some of the players like me told Rama that it was our last cash game there this week, and will be playing instead at Casino Niagara's 27 tables. The session fee at Niagara is only $7 + $1 BBJ for 2/5 and $6 + $1 for 1/2.

went there a few times last summer. games were pretty good but inconveniently located. angle shooters were plentiful and floor didn't seem to be punishing them for it.

I think the small game at niagra is 1/3.

Goodbye, Rama, thanks for the fun times. That's seriously wrong. No way I'll pay that kind of rake.

The only soup I've seen gaf about anything there is Jeff. Too bad about the rake increase, I always liked that glassed off poker room.

They have a tour bus that goes up there for 10 dollars. I think it's Angel Tours that is the main bus company from the GTA.

As for the rake disgusting, I always thought the rake increases were directed from the OLG but I guess each casino has a leeway to tweak the rake higher than that....

As some of you may know, Great Canadian Gaming has chosen to remove poker permanently from the Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry, effective Monday June 26th. This is in addition to them having removed poker from Woodbine the day they took over 6 months back.

Today a friend of mine heard back from the General Manager at Woodbine, where he stated poker is not in the plans for any of GCG's Toronto area properties. I believe GCG hates poker, and they will not be spreading it at any of their casinos. Land in Port Perry costs nothing. For them to remove it from that casino is a very, very, very bad sign.

Accordingly, I've come to the conclusion that it's now time to launch a PR campaign against GCG, with the intended effect of making them adhere to their commitments to the OLG when they were granted the license for the GTA casinos, which includes, among other things, diversifying the offerings, and lowering their customer age demographic (ie more poker, less slots).

So I put a petition up here --
https://www.change.org/p/doug-ford-l...ker-in-the-gta

Any comments you make will be emailed to the following people:
Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario
Michael Ford, Councillor Ward 2, which contains Woodbine Casino
John Tory, Mayor of Toronto
and last but definitely not least...
Stephen Rigby, President OLG

Please sign it, send it to all your friends, post it on social media, etc. I want to force GCG to honour their commitments, and bring a big live poker room to Toronto!

After the petition has sufficient numbers if I don't see a satisfactory response I'll be taking the campaign to the media.

I suggest everyone never go to that poker room again. 10 dollar rake is insane. Why is it this ****ing hard to have a decent poker room in Ontario?

Here's an email I sent them

Not a question, just a comment.

You've lost a long time customer and visiter to your casino with your recent increase of rake at your poker rooms. 10 dollar rake on 1/2 blinds is a travesty and honestly a complete joke, and I'm sure I will not be the only one to never step foot in your casino again.

I understand you guys are in the business of making money, a lot of it. But you've made the game completely unplayable with your immeasurable greed.

This move will inevitably cause you to make less money over the long run, and you might as well have just got rid of your poker room completely.

I also understand poker is not a big money maker for you guys, but are you that naive to not see it brings in people who would otherwise never come in, who almost always play other games when they're waiting for the poker room to start? You've done yourself a complete disservice.

10 dollar rake on a 1/2 game is one of the biggest rakes in all of North America. Do you honestly think your poker room is deserving of that? It's tiny, mismanaged and cramped. It's not worth the price of admission.

You've lost a long time customer and I hope you lose a lot more. Once your older population starts dying off you'll have a hard time filling that building at all.

There's nothing 'great' about Casino Rama.

The poker tournaments at Casino Rama always sold out, but believe it or not, Gateway Casinos cancelled all the tournaments! I had already put the 2019 scheduled tournaments on my calendar up to December, but July 8 was the last one ever. The cash game had long waiting lists on tournament days, with up to 5/10 running, but the entire room may close.

The only casino tournaments left in southeastern Ontario is at Casino Niagara. They have tournaments on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. There will be a Niagara Series of Poker in October, with satellites running now.

I'm wondering if there was ever any feedback on this..so much debt in Toronto. The city could make a lot of money taxing the rake.
