When people discuss climate, they always rate summers vs winters, and nobody talks about the best seasons, spring and fall.

The thing I hated about Mississippi was, there was no spring. It's winter, it's winter, it's winter, suddenly you wake up one morning and it's 70, and the forecast says it'll be in the 80's in two days. Winter's over, summer's here, what happened to spring?

MN falls are awesome imo

Spring is terrible as it's all melting dirty snow with sand and mud everywhere.

One guy ITT says they keep the best of the seasonal hires fulltime. This is exactly the sort of info that I seek, that you suggest that nobody could give me.

You're not gonna believe this, but after 7 years in Vegas, followed by 10 years in Mississippi, I'm actually sick of HOT climates. Spent the last two winters in New England, and actually enjoyed them. This, coming from the guy who joined the army at a young age, mostly to escaped the hated winters. Grass greener etc. People look at me like I'm nuts when I tell them I'm excited about the prospects of living in Minneapolis or Seattle, and hope to God I don't have to move to LA or Vegas.

I was like 50/50 on whether to respond, but will go out on limb. FWIW, asking what they've done in the past and what they plan to do this year are two separate things. Thanks for the clarifying though. A couple thoughts:

- PM BBQ'd. He is a former shift mgr there and afaik left on good terms. He should be able to answer your questions and may be able to make some connections for you there.
- Cold call them and just ask?
- I'll be there tomorrow and will ask a few folks I know.

I don't believe it has anything to do with NL. At least I haven't heard anything.

From what I was able to gather, they have filled all of the "seasonal" dealer spots. It sounds like they hired a handful with the intention of keeping them full time come fall (assuming no issues with the individual). The person I talked to said they hadn't done this before. I only ran into one of the new dealers, but he seemed very competent (like most there).

My favorite temp dealer now full time is the New York guy (sorry don't remember his name). Came for the fall classic 3 years in a row, great dealer, played alot when he was off shift, good stories, THICK accent.

(Of course since I started travelling for work pretty much full time I've logged 2 hours inthe past 5 weeks, so maybe he's not there anymore).

Played 6/12 LHE tonight. Play was atrocious. ~65% of players to the flop, maybe more. Under no circumstances should anyone reading this even consider playing a game smaller than 6/12.

Either of you guys ever play 8/16? Is the quality of play similar to 6/12? Do they ever run 10/20 or does it go from 8/16 to 15/30?

8/16 is consider a very loose game, 50%+ to the flop in most games. Skill level is pretty much the same as 6/12 just a tad more aggro with lots of losing/break even regulars. Very swingy game but very profitable as people really seem to chase loses a lot. Played for an hour waiting for the 15 game a few days ago and I cant say there was one thinking player on the table. Literally everyone seeing the flop most limping or calling 2 bets then just chase til the river to see who gets there. There was a showdown probably 90% of hands half of which there was 3+ players showing down.
No 10/20 game, the 15/30 game is pretty good right now. I suggest playing this over the yellow chip games for many reasons. The 15 game has many breakeven regs who are easy to predict with little history. Definatley some solid winning players too, and a lot of casual losing players just looking to gamble and choose poker over blackjack for that night kind of player. No one really crushes this game but there are winning players there.
The 30/60 is nothing like the 15 game, no open limping, not many cold calls usually 2-3 to the flop costing 90 most times. Its also running as a mix game with limit Omaha 8. The game has numerous winning regulars, even more since Black Friday, but still a very live game and almost always a lot of action. This can be a very swingy game that should not be played without a proper bankroll.

15/30 is what I recommend at first, it seems to be fairly easy to beat and the swings for some reason don't seem to be so bad. Play that for awhile and you will make money, it goes all night and there is 2 tables going for about 6 hours every evening. There is although some winning 30 regulars playing 15 right now because they don't play Omaha.

As for the 30, there is very little edge in this game right now and shot taking should be used cautiously mainly because its so different than the 15 game. Much more aggro and lots of regulars with lots of monies.

I am convinced that there are better players in the 6/12 than in the 8/16. I also have a hard time believing that the 15/30 is better than the 8/16, but that being said I've observed mostly during the day on weekdays.
