DOH! I guess I have never seen them on there. I see the lists, but I don't recall seeing games that are currently playing.

Right now it's accurately showing 1 active 500 survival. Can confirm; am here.

Chopper, any chance of getting a LHE tourney back into the FPC?
Preferably of the $500-$1000 variety?

Is there any noticeable differences in the skill level of the player pool between 2-4, 3-6, 4-8, 6-12, and 8-16 limit holdem?

I've played 2-4 and 3-6, but have noticed the play is pretty poor in general. I have been a consistent winner at the smaller games and am considering moving up in stakes. Are these low limit games all pretty similar? Or should I expect an increase in talent as I move up the ladder?

SetOfJacks the Limit tournament is a tournament that management debates every year before the Classic. I'm not sure if we will or will not, just know that there is a group of individuals advocating for the Limit tournament every year.

I have only played at CP a few times, but I did play 6/12 and 8/16 there and both games were very good. In general the players as you move up will be a little bit better, but still bad, just in different ways. Like in the 8/16 people will make bad raises instead of bad calls, and the game can be very aggressive, so you need to be able to handle the swings. But in the long run it should be easier to be a winner, because at least it is possible to beat the rake.

Made my first trip there all things considered it was a great experience! Didnt have to wait long for them to start the 2-100 game I must of got lucky with timiing cuz I think a few people had an hour wait after the first game was full

If anyone was playing 2-100 yesterday from noon-5pm on table 15 lemme know!

The 8/16 is a great game that you should move up to as soon as possible.
You will not see too many limped pots but you will frequently see a raise and 5 cold calls.

Thanks. I seen there is a MSPT event coming up in a few weeks but i only see one tourney listed. Is the only event the $350? Is it a big enough attraction to make a difference in number of cash games that weekend? Thanks.

Makes sense given that there were THREE 40/80 mix games running on Tuesday night.

Going up there for a few days to play in about a month. Any hotel suggestions? Looks like there is a Best Western and Holiday Inn Express within a couple miles for about $150 a night. Those as good as any? Thanks.

There are some places much cheaper than that which I found fine, but I can't remember the names. I think they are listed on the CP website. It was even a reasonable walk to the cardroom if decent weather.

The Americinn and Best Western are the closest and holiday inn I believe is a bit further. Unless you are deadset on walking here I would stay elsewhere - neither is very nice. I'd suggest the Westin in Edina. It is pretty new, nice and not unreasonable rates. About a 6-8 mile drive though. Otherwise the hotel at Mystic Lake is really nice and you can just take the shuttle over here - very convenient.

Thanks for the info everyone. How bad is traffic getting there from the south on a Friday afternoon?

Pretty much nonexistent. It is about 15 miles south of downtown so you aren't going to hit rush hour if you are coming from south of CP.

For those of you who have lived in MN for a while and played all the games at Canterbury, how do you compare the level of play? Would you say MN poker players are generally tougher or easier to play against then other states or Vegas. Mostly thinking about the $2-100 spread and comparing it to $1/$2 and $1/$3 NLH in Vegas.

It is my opinion that 2-100 in MN is softer than 1-2/1-3 in Vegas. In my experience, there are more recreational players sitting at a low limit table in MN than at a low limit table in Vegas. My sample size of Vegas is a little more thin than that of MN, but I'm definitely more profitable at Canterbury than the strip.

I've played about 350 hours in LA as my only other live experience. MN has just as many fish but they are more agressive in general than the fish in LA. MN games are very good but our good players are much better than LA's good players. Our best are better and their worst are much worse.

I'm a mix player and I've long wanted to travel to Canterbury for a couple weeks before or after the series to enjoy the weather and I'm wondering if this makes sense & what the best time to go is. Probably won't make it this year, but have a few questions in "preparation" for next year

How has the 40 mix action been during the mspt?
How does the level of play compare to west coast mix games?
Does action get especially good during certain times of the year?

Thanks.
