Any one else notice a significant uptick in volume and fishy play over this winter at CP? My last few 8/16 tables have gone back to the old style-random capping. $300 is a smallish pot. FWIW I've been playing weekday afternoons, so its a huge change from last summer.

Looking in through the construction window-looks like its all framed, still all of the finishing work to go.

So you have to leave your money on the table for the full 3 hours? What if you have an emergency and want to leave with like 1/2 hour left and you are up? They can't make you stay in the building. Do you just let it blind down then come back to get your money?

HA! My first post and I noticed my location is a "bad" word. Hey I didn't make up the name of the city I live in

Well, there has been talk in recent years of changing the town's name, right?

Correct, you continue to be blinded away and they will hold onto your "prize" money at the end of the "tournament". Since these, technically, have to be tournaments to be legal, it is similar to leaving a tournament being blinded off-you still might or might not finish ITM.

BTW, the $200+30 run more frequently and last for 2 hours.

Wow I actually really like this. I hope RA starts this up I don't like to drive all the way down to CB but I may have to after they open up the new room.

OK, novel way to get around the "no NL" law, but $30 rake is kinda crazy. That's $7.50 per down, more than the $5 or 6 standard in most raked NL cardrooms. Does this cover tips as well as BBJP?

AFAIK, the 30 covers house rake and the dealer cut but nothing towards the BBJP (since it is considered to be a tournament rather than a cash game). Yeah, 30 is pretty steep. 25 would seem to be more "reasonable" given the 35 for the 300 game.

I guess it's not that bad if the dealers are taken care of. I meant in my previous post that $5 or 6 is standard in time charge games, so if you win one pot per down and tip $1 then it's close to $7.50 anyway. Agreed that the $300+35 for 3 hours is more reasonable.

If I "re-buy" do I pay the vig again?

Yes, but I think it is reduced. I thought I heard $310 for the $300 game, not sure on the $200.

Are they giving a date yet for the grand reopening of the newly remodeled poker room?
How is the construction progressing?
Is the temporary room decent and playable?
Thanks

How much do you expect to pay in rake per hour in a cash game?

44 hands/hr x$5 rake/hand =$220 per hour for the table. You win 1/9 hands so you pay $24/hr in rake.

I hope my math is wrong cuz that seems insane.

those "tournies" sound pretty cool, except for the rake of course, but i bet still beatable.

I dont think fixed limit games at any card room get 44 hands per hour (not including online, cause they might),
and for sure not Spread limit and no-limit (also not counting online)
players take too long to act, and not all hands are maxed out for rake,
so I think your numbers are off.
In games in Calif. where they took time rake we payed 6 or 7 per half hour,
and I think that was much better than the $5 flop and drop in some other games they had at the Bike (and that was a few years ago, so maybe higher now).
The flop and drop games dropped 130-150 per hour full table so I'd guess 30 hands per hour is closer to normal.

Canterbury dealers have told me management wants them to average 22 hands/down.

Most dealers get at least 35/hour, faster ones are running well over 40.

With the exception of a few players or crazy games capping 6 ways preflop, most act pretty fast down there.

I was in St. Paul last week visiting friends and played at the Canterbury on Friday and Saturday.

Great room, very well run. The temporary room is fine. I was told by a bartender that they would be moving to the remodeled room by June. Don't know how accurate that is though.

FWIW, I heard somebody say mid-April but I find that hard to believe. The old room is gutted, looks like they're doing electrical and mechanical work right now, seems far away from being done as best as I can tell. The temp place is fine for poker. It looks temporary with an unfinished ceiling and such. On the plus side, not as chilly as the downstairs room. You can play in a t-shirt and be comfortable.

Heard they've made a change to the 200 survivor "tournaments" so that the blinds go up a bit during the second hour of it. But from three people, I heard three versions: that it goes from 1/2 to 2/2, that it goes to 2/3, and that it goes to 2/4. Anyone know which (if any) is correct?

Survivor tournies are catching on. And they're pulling good limit players off the tables, leaving me to feast on fishies alone.
