I'm pretty pumped about the new remodeling they are doing!

It sounds pretty sick, but the only downside is playing up in that temporary area where its crowded and nasty.

P.S. Whats the ettiquite on spotting a person leaving the bathroom without washing their hands? Because I have seen this at Canterbury more than anywhere else in my entire life....Disgusting.

I had no idea they were remodeling. I play at Running Aces, though I haven't played live in like 3 months. When is that supposed to be done? Are they also going to start offering spread limit games too?

No spread games... But they have added a 6/12 he/08 mix, and a one-table "tourney" that mimicks 1/2 nlhe ($300+35, table plays for 3 hours, blinds stay 1-2 the whole way, you get paid what's in front of you at the end). Construction will be done mid-April.

So is this a 3 hour rebuy "tourney" then?

I would like to go down to play in the new tourny "cash game" but i was told by a canterbury regular that it hasnt started up yet because too few people know about it. Any word on if/ how regularly it is running.

I pretty much only play on weekdays, and have not seen it going (about 3 or 4 names on the list each day by noon)... Rumor has it that it's going at night, but I wouldn't really know. But yeah, it's new and people don't really know about it or understand it. I also think that the $335 number is sticker shock for most of the people that would gladly play a 1/2 NL otherwise...

It did run last Saturday evening about 8:30-11:30. I didn't play it but saw that the big winner in the game cashed out for 1600+. I left at midnight and there were 5 names on the list so for all I know, a second one started later.

AFAIK, you can rebuy any time as long as you do so before the next hand.

That would make more sense. Maybe I heard wrong...

I am pretty sure you can only rebuy after losing an all in, I think that's what the flyer said at least. After speaking with a floor they said the "tourney" had run 5 times as of last saturday.

Correct. You can rebuy but not add-on.

There has been a $300 going just about every night.
Tonight a $200 for two hour option was added.

You get $ for $ in chips. Blinds are $1 small and $2 big. Blinds never increase.
You play No Limit Holdem until time is up, then you can cashout what you have in front of you. You can rebuy anytime you go broke, but need to do it before the next hand starts.

You get to play No limit ......dressed as a tournament.
I have not tried yet, but maybe a $200 shot is in the future.

Also, how long until this structure becomes something like a 10-hour, re-buy, and late registration (if someone doesn't rebuy) tournament at all the standard NL stakes? Or is this flaunting the law too much?

Do people tip the dealer after each pot, or at the end of the $300"tournament"?

Do you have to play with Canterbury's lol tourny chips? (as opposed to their best in the world regular chips)

You are not allowed to cash in your chips until after time period is up. You can walk away and get blinded off, but you cant cash in. That is why they usually have a game at around 8pm and dont start a new late at night. A 10 hour block would be tough to get 10 players to commit too.

There is a different set of chips used in the No Limit Survivor.
They are not the same chips that are used in any other tournament or Sit n Go.

10 hours would be waaay too long if you had to stay the whole time.
But there is no reason 2hour ones coudn't run back to back to back and so on.
If you want to stay and play again, stay. replace those that leave with a new player.
When word gets out, I think peeps from RA, TI and DJ's will try them.
There has only been flyers in CP, so they have some promoting to do.

FWIW, last Sunday these tournies were discussed at the RA table I was playing at and the dealer mentioned that if they caught on at CB, RA would probably start them up too. No idea if he was just joining in with the tabletalk or commenting on something semi-official that he'd heard.

Ok that makes sense. But why not just have these things "start" like every hour? You could get a huge turnover of players I imagine. Or even like every 30 minutes. If you don't want to play you wouldn't have to wait long to leave.

And I'm not sure I would like it if something that mimicked NL caught on that much. I enjoy playing my small-mid stakes limit. Hope this won't dry up those games if it becomes popular.

There doesn't seem to be the demand. It's taking several hours to get enough people to get one going, how would they get one running every hour?

There was 2 going at the same time yesterday. The second was started with a 1/2 hour left to go in the other one. I think Eric is right, no way for one every hour yet.
The drop to $200 buy-in made a big difference.
