2/5 was definitely running and I had the impression 5/10 was going as well but I could well be mistaken on the 5/10 and perhaps it was just an interest list. My apologies for posting it as fact when I'm actually not sure.

yeah, you too. So was that guy in seat 3 also planning on moving to Windsor in order to play online again?

BTW, before you sat there was a funny hand in which T5 beat out KJ on an AT3 7 Q board. Just out of instinct I started to say something, but the dude with the T5 told me to shut up and the dealer had no clue, nor did the KJ guy, and the T5 person was awarded the $75 pot. lol. It was that Sylvia chick dealing it.

So you just sat back and let the error go?

I pretty much said that word for word, and he said that would be fine.

Ok. Semantic hair splitting. Very cute.

So you did ignore your ethical obligation.

Interesting. Guess that is gonna work for you then. Don't think I'd want to bet my future on it, but glad it worked for you.

While in Windsor I stopped by BMO Bank and opened an account. I told him I'm a poker pro and am going to live in Canada for 6 months. He said he plays online at pokerstars and he heard about the Black Friday stuff. We talked a bunch of poker and it was super easy. He said I was the second person from Michigan to do this. I told him I play at FTP and need a bank statement to my future Canada address, which I don't know yet, and he said no prob, just to call him when I know it.

No, WTF.

I did mention it, and the dealer and the T5 guy both heard me. The KJ dude was pissed, and showed KJ in his hand and just mucked it, saying he missed. I think the dealer thought it was T5's anyway, which was funny to me. The T5 guy thought it might be overturned or who knows what, so he told me to shut up. So I did speak up and nothing changed.

I have been playing 2-5 there the last couple of weeks. It seems like an OK game but the game is mostly composed of nits and fishy regulars. I think the games are better in Detroit, especially at Motor City.

Whats the best way to approach the money exchange? Should this be done in Canada or US? Are the rates better inside Caesars or should I use like a local bank?

I really doubt that any of No Cal or NV has colder winters than Windsor. I'm biased though since my ultra-small sample of Michigan winters (N=1) suggests that it's basically 9 months long.

Average Jan. high in Jackpot, NV is 3 Celsius; i'll eat my hat if it's that warm in Windsor.

Located in the far south of Ontario, close to the border and the American city of Detroit, Windsor enjoys the warmest climate of any of Ontario's cities.

Windsor has a semi-continental climate, with a warm, humid summer and a cold winter.

Windsor's climate is modified by its location on the shores of North America's Great Lakes. The water in the lakes ensures Windsor is warmer in winter and cooler in summer than it would otherwise be. The lakes are also the source of Windsor's summer humidity, which many people find uncomfortable.

Although Windsor is Ontario's warmest city, winters are still severe. Snow depths of greater than 1 cm are seen on about 53 days each year in Windsor compared with about 65 days further north in Toronto.
According to this site the Average high in Winsdor in January is -1 C

I've been contemplating for so long to move to Windsor for 6 months just to play online and at caesar's, it is really appealing... But I'm also a college student and I dont want to hassle with the move back and forth all the time, or transferring to an international university. I can just wait another year and crush the live here in the U.S.

For example...

For a Tourist/Visitor Visa:

While you don't need a Visa to Visit Canada from the US, I believe that the criteria remain. You can't just show up at the Border and say: "I'm gonna stay for 6 months and play Poker."

They'll ask the purpose and length of your visit. If it is just a couple of days you'll be fine, but anything over a week and you can expect more detailed questions and more documentation required.

A Work Visa is a completely different animal and requires many other things, including a Job Offer or other proof of intended employment.
Realistically this is all crap. You tell them you're a tourist, you're taking a year off to travel, and you're looking to spend a couple months in Canada. You'll get in, you can happily stay 6 months, and there will be no further issues.

Just sayin'

If you are curious as to which states (Alaska, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming)

Bolded ones I found most interesting
This is meaningless. East coast & west coast weather is significantly different. Latitude is one determinant of temperature, but is FAR from the only one. Heck, it may not even be the main one.

If you think Windsor is warmer than anywhere in Nevada or California (mountains excepted) I've got a bridge to sell you.

I completely agree with buggle. I go to U of Michigan which is just about 30 miles east of windsor and its cold as balls basically for a solid 5 months of the year. Mentally if you're used to someplace like california or florida where the sun is shining and everythings nice, the lack of a sunny day for weeks if not months really ****s with your mind, as it did for me when i first came up here from the mid atlantic.

Right on, it's not the magnitude of the cold days, it's the duration. You could always play in Canada 9 months a year, though, if you could work out the immigration status or otherwise be a "tourist" with a bank account and a mailing address

Does anyone know what the normal payout for the nightly is? And about how many players play in it. Obviously its gonna be different by day of the week but like an approximate is good.

I don't really play in the tournament but I think they run a $65 ($50 + $15) tourney on Monday through Thursday. You get like 4k in chips with 20 minute levels. They normally get about 30 to 40 players. First prize is about $800 or $900 but they usually chop it. They usually pay the top ten percent of the field. The tournament has a lot of regulars and is very soft. On Friday and Saturday I think its a $100 tourney or something. I don't think its a profitable tourney considering the high amount of juice they are taking.

Played there once when I was under 21. Killed the $1/2 game, but the tournament was typical hyper-turbo crapshoot. Big room, lots of games going, basically a great all-around experience.

They also now take an additional $5 on every tourney buyin, no matter how big or small, for a tournament bad beat. So the $65 daily is really $50 + $10 +$5, it used to be $50 + $10.

I'm thinking about heading up there eventually, will I have to ever worry about dealing with taxes, like let's say I win whatever amount of money, will I have to do pay Canadian or U.S. taxes at all?

Not to revive this thread or anything, but we need to get a PLO or 7-stud game going. Or better yet, 1/2 NL, 1/2 PLO, 3/6 Stud Hi RxR. Any interest, PM me.
