+1

Don't know why we get shafted with waitresses in the poker room. There are some really nice ones that work Cosmos bar downstairs.

I'm still a little scared of the 2/5 game because of a couple of reg maniacs. I don't want to go sit there for 6 hours, play like a nit AND get berated by a horrible reg. I haven't seen the 5/10 game run recently, but there is almost always a list of interest up. Also saw the RxR run once, and PLO runs pretty regularly. When I was there last night playing in the tourney they opened up a full ring 2/5 which I thought was spectacular for a Wednesday night. Usually they're asking the 2/5 guys how many they'll start with.

EDIT: Also will reiterate if any 2p2ers are up for a meetup, we should try and organize something.

u can beat the 1/2 games and literally never bluff except for the odd coninuation bet on the hands where u only get 1 caller pre

occasionally they get a 5/10 no cap buy in on friday/saturday nights that centres around a few rich fish

in the tournies their bet sizing is awful and they many regs will still open limp at 200/400/50 with a 4k stack
how do i know if i know you lol?

Wait... wat????

People are MORE likely to shove in marginal spots in a tourney??

This sounds so very very wrong to me...

Hahahahahahaha

Oh so true

I like the room though. I'll definitely be back in the summer. Wouldn't mind meeting up.

Waitress was good on Friday night . I met someone who I think is also a 2p2er and is another University of Windsor student. If you're out here speak up Matt!

Appreciate the reports on this city. If the US government makes it completely impossible to withdraw/deposit money into online accounts, many thousands of US poker players (myself included) will likely be moving to Canada for a while. I think Windsor is the southernmost city in Canada, so a possible choice for those of us who hate harsh winters.

"Many Thousands" will be moving to Canada?

...I don't think so.

You know 50% of the US states have land that is farther north than the most southern part of Canada right?

So picking any of those states is likely to lead to colder winters than what we get in Southern Ontario...

Just sayin'

If you are curious as to which states (Alaska, California, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New York, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming)

Bolded ones I found most interesting

Regular Windsor player here as well ... 1/2 games are very very soft. The 2/5 is generally very good on the weekends, with only a couple of really good players to worry about. The tourney player pool ... wow is I all I have to say.

I'll be there on Sat for the $550 montly tourney ... didnt know there were other 2p2 regs here, pretty cool.

Question to the Windsor natives ITT:

I live in Michigan and am thinking of moving to Windsor so that I can play online poker for at least a 6 month period. I plan on visiting within the next week to check out the casino and city to see what I think of it. I would really like to open a bank account while I'm there, because that is one of the things required to play on FTP/PS again. So where would you recommend I go for this and what all would I need to bring? Do you know if it is easy for a US citizen to get one?

thanks

All of the major Canadian banks have branches downtown (Ouellette Ave.). And are spitting distance from the casino. You should be able to open an account.

What do you plan on telling them when you cross to border to go play Poker On-Line?

You can't just move to Canada.

Maybe. But probably not. It isn't that simple and isn't your "right" upon entry. You have to convince them that you have the means and valid reason to stay for the length of time that you state upon entry.

For example...

Quote:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/apply-who.asp
To visit Canada, you must:

* have a valid travel document, such as a passport;
* be in good health;
* satisfy an immigration officer that you have ties, such as a job, home and family, that will take you back to your country of origin;
* satisfy an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your visit; and
* have enough money for your stay. The amount of money you will need can vary with the circumstances of the visit, how long you will stay and whether you will stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives.
For a Tourist/Visitor Visa:
Quote:
The purpose of such a visit should be to visit relatives, to attend a business meeting, to attend a conference or convention, pleasure trip, participating in a cultural show and such other purpose
While you don't need a Visa to Visit Canada from the US, I believe that the criteria remain. You can't just show up at the Border and say: "I'm gonna stay for 6 months and play Poker."

They'll ask the purpose and length of your visit. If it is just a couple of days you'll be fine, but anything over a week and you can expect more detailed questions and more documentation required.

A Work Visa is a completely different animal and requires many other things, including a Job Offer or other proof of intended employment.

What about all the snowbirds from up here that own property down there and go for 4 to 5 months? He couldn't just rent an apartment here? I think its easier than you're making it.

They're used to dealing with US$, TD even stocks certain bank machines with US$ for those of us going across for a night on the town or whatever. You can use a cheque, wire transfer, etc. All of the same banking mechanisms apply.

Yeah, I've been reading up a ton on various threads and it doesn't seem hard. The hardest part seems to be getting FTP/PS to accept you again.

I have, however, contacted a few immigration lawyers from windsor about the situation and am waiting to hear back.

Nice meeting you tonight ungar2000. Same to the other man at the table that identified as a 2p2er, if he happens to read this.

I'll add some content and say it looked busier tonight (Monday evening) than I remember it being on Fri/Sat a few weeks ago. Also, it looked as if they had 2/5 and 5/10 running. Maybe some aftershock of black friday.

As a SE Michigander I prefer to play in Windsor over the Detroit casinos. Better rake and imo better atmosphere.
