Not just cheap, NASTY! And talk about cheap, omg, a guy hits the BBJ at the Taj, gets the Lions share, and tips the dealer...$20. I'd rather give 0 and let the dealer think that I had a complete brain freeze.

And I have no idea if it was the same guy from the blog, but I did overhear him say something to his buddy about getting thrown out of Caesars', for what, who cares.

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

Can someone tell me about the borgata poker room rate for sunday? Is it FREE? I heard someone hear mention its 39 dollars on monday-wednesday and 79 for thursday but COMPED for sunday?

Would i have to call borgata first and tell them i will play 4 hours or 6 hours and then go and play it?

Like I said earlier, you give what you feel like giving--I don't like to measure ones generousity. That said, and this is just to let you know, 5% is not customary. It's more like 3%.

Man, I don't know about "cheap" and "class", but I doubt if I'm throwing off 10% of my profit back in.

figure the taxes...

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

i asked a dealer what he would expect if the bbjp hit a month ago at Borgata. I think it was around 100k. He said he would expect $5k from the guy who got the most money. seriously? $5k? no chance id give that much

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

That dealer is smoking some good stuff.

If I knew the dealer to be very good, then I can see myself giving as much as $1k. But no higher than that, and most likely $500 to a dealer I don't know or know not to be good.

*disclaimer: obviously tip what you want. If you want to give $5k, then by all means. Who cares what I would tip, and I really don't care what others tip. A dealer's expectation, though, of $5k is ridiculous.

Your going to have to call and figure it out.

Most of us here play at the Borg on a regular basis, so we get comped rooms (yes just from poker) and lower than the poker rate for other nights.

So the answers from us would vary greatly

(that or PM stan, to see if he can help you out at all)

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

Cutting the guy who went to smoke/ go to the bathroom in on the BBJ is ridiculous. By buying into the idea that "it wouldn't have hit if he didn't go pee", you would essentially be giving lots of people cuts of the BBJ.

Ever since the cards got changed on that table, every single player who has been dealt a hand since those cards have been in play, even if they are on their way home now, deserves a cut according to this thinking. The way the cards have been mucked, who played what hand and in what order, etc., etc. all contributed to the bad beat hitting.

I would never expect to be given a piece of the jackpot if I were the one who was taking a break when it hit. I won't turn down free money if people really want to give it to me, either.

Not only that- why would you work there, then? If you're expecting four figure tips, won't you be horribly pissed off for getting "only" hundreds of dollars out of the blue?

Very weird expectation

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

Maybe an angle by the dealer to try to wrangle a bigger tip if it hits?

In whose opinion is usually and/or customary to give 100? Should be 3% minimum. Got to pay it forward. Someone drops 100k in my lap they are getting at least 3-5k (depends on their attitude and job performance) and the rest of the dealers in the room will get a green bird.

Maybe I'm cheap but there's no way I'm giving up 5K....maybe 3K. I wouldn't dream of giving $500 either but I'd find a happy medium between that and 5K.

Would you drop some cash on the guy that has been grinding for 5 hours and gets up to take a pee and misses 2 hands including the BBJ? I don't see how you (you meaning a BBJ winner, not actually taaemt) can't throw him some cash.

Can't wait for Sund. I'll be over at around 11am. Hope the PCO8 is running.

Re: Borgata Poker Thread

so wait....the dealer didn't do anything differently than they do every hand. How does the fact that the cards came out in a certain way entitle them to thousands of my dollars? THey did the same work they did every other hand
