I'll be up there this weekend as well. I'm heading up late Thursday night (from the DC area) and will be there until Sunday. I'll probably be playing the PC omaha and holdem games as well as the 10/20 and/or 20/40.

Yes, the game does play looser and although I play an aggressive game when I play a pot...my game isn't any looser because of the 3-tier structure. Reason being, the Ante:Bring-in ratio is still standard for a 15/30 stud game. Conversely, if the structures were reverse where the ante was high compared to the bring-in, then you would need to open up a bit more because there's more in the middle to fight for/worth stealing. But, because the high amounts are at the end of the hand (6th/7th) you should be playing a relatively tight/solid game, this way, you can pleasantly await the player(s) who'll be meeting up with you with their pair of 9's or their bad 8's etc., etc..cause this is where they really get punished, and, as long as these players are willing to take the heat at the end of the hand...then there's really no reason to play any looser at the front end.

It's really not that big of a deal and the dealer usually has to chop up a couple pinks into white for the toke anyway - this just helps facilitate that.

When I played in the PCO8 game, almost none of the dealers were doing this, and almost all of the players seemed to think they were doing it right by giving the odd pink to the high and the odd white to the low, as opposed to getting a closer split by chopping another two pinks. It wasn't until several hours into the game that I even realized you get a closer split this way...when one player insisted that the dealer do it.
It doesn't really matter to me how the split is done. But there must be a clear and consistent rule that all dealers follow every time. As it was, the dealers were chopping the pots in whatever fashion the most insistent player at the table told them to, and this is easy to take advantage of.

Re: Borgata Poker Thread
Stan,
What are the chances of getting a poker rate on a friday or saturday night? I go to the Borgata about once a month, I love the place, but I always end up staying in Absecon becuase the rates are very cheap. I would love to stay at the Borgata however, but now sure if those poker rates are available or not. I never seem to have much luck when I call and talk to a hotel reservation staff member. Anyone else I should be speaking to? Thanks.

Re: Borgata Poker Thread
Just got my "free parking" pass for Aug/Sep (better late than never)...
So, I'll be lighting that on fire this Friday. Drop by the PCG & say hi.

Why don't you try calling reservations? I'm not being facetious, I called earlier this week and got a poker rate for this weekend Thrs-Sun. I was actually surprised, given that I mostly play 1/2 and only rarely stray to table games.
It never hurts to ask. I'm sure it depends on your play history and the available rooms for the dates you want to visit.

Just last night, I landed on free parking during my appearnce on "High Stakes Monopoly" after Donald Trump was busted out when he landed on the Community Chest of a random Pacific Avenue floozie.
Unfortunately, when I roll out of the Borgata, its five bucks. What do I have to do to get this perk, other than humiliating the Donald?

Re: Borgata Poker Thread
Me 4.
Looks like maybe some of the comments on here resulted in some changes to the mailer? This one did not have the confusing "Enjoy a Complimentary Classic Room" wording (I don't play enough to score one of the free rooms, but the summer mailer seemed to imply that offer), and there is now a specific reminder to swipe out when you're done playing.

Right, didn't think of that- it's been a long while since I saw the PC game.
Thanks... though, in the spirit of the game, I think they should change the rake to only take pink chips- spread it out in some weird way :P
