re: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, NJ) -- FAQ added 2013.04.04

I am baffled at why people who aren't at the table expect to be dealt in.

If a player pays his blinds, he should get dealt in until he misses a blind. You have to actually remember to say to the dealer "deal me in next hand" if you want to stand up for a minute... and even then they often forget to deal you in. Why is this even a rule? Am I missing something here?

Why can't we deal to a stack until said stack has a missed blind button?

I hope you consider this. I would really appreciate an answer as well.

Thank you!
Maybe Stan doesn't feel like retraining 200 dealers when the current system is 100% fine.

Depends if it is a time game or not. Many places if you pay time you get a hand until you miss a blinds after all you did pay the blinds and the rake. If you are on your way back from the bathroom and it is a time game you should get a hand. Raked games is a different story.

I should have been more clear. I was talking about time games (20-40 limit). If I am paying $7 per half hour, I should get dealt in after paying my blinds even if I am not at the table. Retrain dealers you say??? Let's hold a 4 hour seminar for them!?!?!? I am baffled at how utterly stupid you assume dealers must be. This is all it takes: "Dealers, hence forward you shall deal to a stack until said stack has a button".

Makes perfect sense to me.

This is standard in most timed 20/40 games around the country. FWIW

Last weekend I heard a few conversations among regulars discussing a certain player who they now consider to be the best in the game. Their argument was "he'll raise with K4 and then flop trips".

Why would the players in a timed game want a rule change that slows the game down? Makes ZERO sense to me.

That's fine but I consider Borgata to be the standard for how just about everything should be done in a poker room and I am not terribly interested in them adopting anyone else's rules.

Slowing down the game? I don't understand. Are you referring to when the player on the right of the "dead hand" simply keeps playing b/c no one is there. And then either he or the player to the left of the hand mucks it? This is also not a jackpot game FWIW.
