re: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, NJ) -- FAQ added 2013.04.04

time v. rake is big because it figures into why the games are looser and have lots more action and are great games, the flexible $100-$500 buy-in also helps inspire loose play and action, think these are the big reasons there are so many 2-5 nl games @ Borgata.

***

re: Nah. The two main reasons the Borg has so many 2/5nl games are (in order):
1) The casino and poker room are a million times nicer than anything else in AC
2) The cap of $500 max lures in more of the 1/2nl players who are intimidated by a 1k cap at other casinos.

Maybe time vs. rake is third, but it's distant if so.

There are several floor people at Borgata who suck at their jobs, and many who make it seem like they're doing you a giant favor just by doing their job... Putting you on a list, changing a bad card, opening a new table, etc.

Calling them out by name in this thread is a big no-no, though.

It's really funny, I see people complain a lot about the Borgata floors but I've never had a problem with them that I can remember. My typical interaction is:

me: Hi, I'd like to sign up for a couple games.
emp1: Hi, OK, go ahead.
me: I'd like game X, game Y, game Z.
emp1: Initials?
me: XXX.
emp1: You're all set.
me: Thanks.

<name called>

me: Hi, I'm XXX for game Y.
emp2: OK hold on a sec... that's on table XX.
me: OK thanks, where is that?
emp2: If you go to emp3 <points out emp3>, he'll show you to your seat.
me: Great, thanks.

emp3: Are you XXX for game Y?
me: Yes.
emp3: Here it is. Open seats are here and here.
me: Thanks.

I don't see where the problems arise. I've also been in situations where new tables were opening, short tables were closing, etc., and I can't remember a time where I thought, "Man, that floorperson is such an idiot/*******/etc.!"

Don't get me wrong. The Borgata's floorpeople are in general very good and quite fair. A few are absolutely excellent. Overall, I think they're the best of the similar-sized east coast rooms.

But there are some bad apples in the mix who do a very poor job.

re: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, NJ) -- FAQ added 2013.04.04

Some days people have bad days and their actions aren't indicative of overall performance. Maybe guy complaining about x floorperson just caught him on an off moment. I have also seen people act like shmucks toward staff and then complain about how rude staff is when at table so have to take all that in consideration also. Asking a floorperson what his job entails because you didn't like his response is pretty shmucky imo. If people constantly complain about an employee then there is obviously a problem.

Instead of calling out an employee in thread would probably be better to just send Stan a pm and I am sure he would take care of it. Thats the experience I have had anyways. I have never signed up for a list with floor person, always by the sign up list in front. If its open seating then I have been instructed to see floor person.

The reason floor people get tired of their jobs and began to develop bad attitudes. They don't make enough money. They make less then the people they are in charge of. In Vegas you can tip the floor for doing you favors but not in Atlantic City. Why would anyone want to be a floor person in AC?

Correct answer. As you enter the room, sign up for all the games you are interested in with the host at the front of the room...

I've never had anything but pleasant, respectful experiences with Borgata floorpeople. However, I've seen plenty of patrons act like disrespectful jerks to the floorpeople for no apparent reason. In fact this happened on Saturday where a floorperson had to deal with a 2/5 player who was loud and cursing up a storm non-stop. He was kicked out thankfully and I thought the situation was handled well.

Staying at water club for first time tomorrow. Two questions: will I still be ok using my visa debit card like I do at the main hotel for the room deposit? And what are the pool hours?

Do any of you have experience asking the shift manager for number of hours played within a certain number of days? Is it a guessing game? Do they have to do a manual count by session? Or do they have a program or easy way to get an exact count, hours and minutes?
