It is correct that the credit card does not put you at an automatic 25K floor, which makes the climb to Gold the same whether you have the card or not.

However, I don't know where you guys are getting the 50K number from. You actually need 75K tier credits for Gold. I'm staring at my Mlife account and given that I have the credit card I'm Pearl, but I only have 3,381 tier credits and it clearly says 71,619 credits to advance to gold.

The one thing that spending with the credit card does however is earn you tier credits as well as points, so you can get to the 75K faster than if you didn't have it.

Whoops, my error, sorry. I got 50k in my head somehow. Way more than I'll ever have, either way.

This is basically a free black card for those that already have Hyatt Chase (or are already Platinum+ with Hyatt) which is a decent credit card overall if you like Hyatt properties.

I should have clarified a few points (did this a few months ago so confirmed it works). You do NOT need to fly to Vegas if you are already a m-life member.

1. Sign up for Hyatt Chase / get approved (first year free). You will need to also sign up for Hyatt Gold Passport if you are not already a member (free membership). Confirm online that your Gold Passport level is Platinum .

2. Status matching Platinum status Hyatt Gold Passport --> M-Life Gold: You must have "opt in" in order to get status matched.

Link for opt in details: http://www.hyatt.com/content/partner...ort/mlife.html

3. Once you're M-Life gold (check this online), go to the Borgata card desk next to lobby. Show them your M-Life profile on your smart phone which indicates you are M-Life Gold and your ID / red card. They will confirm that names match and issue you a Black card.

4. Go to Amorpha Lounge to celebrate.

I don't know if this still works but if it does, it is the easiest way to get gold via credit card.

This doesn't work anymore, given changes to the Hyatt Gold Passport tiers (more tiers now) and how these tiers map to MLife.

The Hyatt credit card now gives you discoverist status, which is only good for mlife pearl.

Heard the 2-5 is going to be changed to 1k max in the coming days. Will this lead to change the 1-2 to 500 max?

Change the 2/5 to 9 handed if they are raising buy-in

Ugh why are they doing this? This just sounds like Borgata conceding defeat over running steady 5/10 NL games. It's just going to make games at every level tougher and less inviting for recreational players.

New buy-ins, effective tomorrow morning, based on a Twitter post that has since been deleted.

Terrible. Was really hoping 1-2 would go to "super" 100-500

Wonder if they keep the $5/hr time or bump that up as well.

Has anyone inquired about why they won't make the 2/5 9 handed? I know it's been 10 forever but with new buyins should incentavise the change imo

It's timed at $5 per person, so no incentive to make it 9 handed unless Borgata also wants to increase rake to $6 to match the 5/10 which is 9 handed.

With such a reputation of being a player friendly venue, there's no reason not to. I'm just honestly astounded that local regs have not persisted over time to get it to 9. What winning reg would prefer 10???

Imo, 9 isn't for the players, it's for the house. If 90 people in room that's 10 full games instead of 9. I like 9 personally for holdem fwiw. Table is less cramped.

Where did you hear that the Borgata is a player-friendly venue? I've heard the opposite via this site and this thread since Stan Strickland left as the director of poker operations about four years ago, specifically regarding the professionalism of the floorpeople and the dealers.

And why would the majority of Borgata regulars necessarily want 9-handed tables instead of 10-handed tables? While it seems pretty clear that 2+2ers prefer 9-handed...

...I'm not convinced that the players who are in that room every day (usually retired people) would prefer it.

I can understand why a lot of players don't like to play shorthanded.

But I can't really see a lot of people preferring 10-handed tables to 9-handed. The effect on play of changing from 10-handed to 9-handed is pretty minimal, but the effect on physical space and comfort at the table is enormous.

"Shorthanded", for a lot of players at the 1/2 level in A.C., means only having 8 or 9 people at the table. Yes, those looking to make money at the game - the good regulars - often do prefer 9 player tables. The rest, who make up the majority of players and who don't even know 2+2 exists let alone post here, prefer 10 person tables.
