If you get Pearl that way, is it still 50K TCs for Gold? Or is it just 25K from when you got Pearl?

The benefits of Pearl vs. Sapphire are so slim that it doesn't seem like much of a perk, but if it jumps you halfway to Gold, that'd be something.

It's still 50K. The credit card gives you Pearl but not the 25k TC it would've taken to earn it the old fashioned way. Total Rewards does the same thing - their credit card gives you automatic Platinum but no TC bump.

Different strokes imo. If you're not a buffet guy the Pearl-Gold jump is basically a zero. Free parking otoh is not nothing.

True, but as long as free parking comes as a poker perk, Pearl doesn't get me much. Gold gets the formerly Black priority lines, which is intangible but probably worthwhile if you do a lot of line-standing.

In addition to buffet you get the Amphora Lounge which is a small buffet but sometimes better food and free alcohol and a more relaxed setting.

With black card you also got 10% off at the 24 hour store not including tobacco. Dunno if still applies.

Only good part of black card is reduced rate buffets and ability to check in quicker. But it seems like everyone and their grandma now have gold card, so the lines get really long even with priority...

10% off at Borgata Collections still applies.

Stay in the Water Club. No separate line, but there's rarely much of a line for the front desk at all.

Nah all those Grandmas already had a black card.
And high volume red cards got free parking offers ever month.
In other words there's no difference whatsoever from last year. They had all these tiers pre mgm it just wasn't reflected in multiple colors.

Or pick better times to check in. 9/10 times even during the summer I'm one of the only people checking in in the gold card line. And I never check out so don't have to deal with that madness Sunday morning.

Waterclub is always a lot better like mentioned as well.

Trip Report:

Returned today from a quick overnight poker trip.

Arrived 1pm, no line to wait it, went right up to a front desk clerk, checked in, room ready. Sweet.

Over to the poker room. 1/2 list about 15 deep, UGH. They called a few names, then opened a new table. SWEET.

Played a few hours, buddy arrived, broke for a quick bite (bad for me Asian food downstairs). Back up where he was quickly seated at a new table, and moved shortly to my table. Friendly table, not too tough, I managed to chip out a little more than I chipped in for.

Cigars at the B Bar with him and a 3rd buddy before dinner. Empty, about 7pm.

Dinner at Angeline. We went Sunday Supper, a family style pre-fix meal. Nice variety, varied from good to great quality. With drinks, tax and generous tip (easier math) $90 per. We were stuffed and had food leftover. A great way to try a bunch of things, but we'll likely order off the menu next time.

Cigars and slots, I managed to hit a bonus and cash out for a bigger win than 4 hours of poker.

Returned to the tables. I forgot my hand on my first big blind. Limped pot, turn brought 3 to a flush, and straight. I bet my crappy 1 card flush draw and got called by UTG. The river brought the 4th straight card, and we both checked. He was next to me in I the 5 seat and I told him he was good. He didn't show, so I tabled my missed flush draw and discovered I had the straight. I cursed at myself, apologized and won a small pot that would have been his if he just tabled after I told him he was good.

A friend of my buddy arrived when we were in the poker room. He's a great guy, but a real knucklehead. We managed to get him over to our table, and played for about 30 minutes with him before taking a short break. He was getting a bit frustrated, so was the table. When "The Professional" wasn't the center of attention, you know it's a raucous table. His GF came by and he called it a night. We stayed and managed to take advantage of a strange table dynamic.

The 3 seat was a LAG middle aged man, a reg who brought a book and seemed to project an OMC vibe. Side note: Saw another 2+2er with a very cool Old Man Coffee t-shirt. Eventually we got a player in the 1 seat who trolled the 3 for an hour straight. The 1 seat was out of line, acting OOT and talking multiway. Bad jobs by the dealers not controlling the table.

Left the table around 4am, last cigar before catching a few hours of sleep.

Great burger at Metro, not nearly as good as what Wolfgang's used to serve, but darn good in it's own right.

Back again next week to re-invest profits.

Hi Everyone,

I get two nights comped each week, including weekends at Borgata. There was an issue with the switch over to M Life, where I lost my comps, but I got that resolved last weekend when I was there and everything looked good again. I just checked the site this morning and my comps are gone again. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks.

Yeah, they screwed mine up too.

I was "fixed" for 2 weeks but after my last trip there I logged in to see that
I now have a brand new account # without any of my comps showing on it (over $250 worth). The sad thing is that you have to go to Borgata to resolve - they won't connect you to the rewards desk over the phone.

Good to see you too BB56 and very nice TR.

As of August 1st the comped room rate has risen to $22.36 a night (just an FYI for those that didn't know). Also, comp dollars no longer expire after 6 months provided you "stay active" at some point within that window of time.

Hidden Resort fees are the biggest marketing scams. Can't believe it is still legal.

Most of it is that the local governments make them tax the room, then they stick out their hands For "Wi-Fi...

The funny thing is that resort fees are non taxable entities so it reduces overall tax revenue. It's also illegal in European countries.

It is correct that the credit card does not put you at an automatic 25K floor, which makes the climb to Gold the same whether you have the card or not.

However, I don't know where you guys are getting the 50K number from. You actually need 75K tier credits for Gold. I'm staring at my Mlife account and given that I have the credit card I'm Pearl, but I only have 3,381 tier credits and it clearly says 71,619 credits to advance to gold.

The one thing that spending with the credit card does however is earn you tier credits as well as points, so you can get to the 75K faster than if you didn't have it.

Whoops, my error, sorry. I got 50k in my head somehow. Way more than I'll ever have, either way.

This is basically a free black card for those that already have Hyatt Chase (or are already Platinum+ with Hyatt) which is a decent credit card overall if you like Hyatt properties.

I should have clarified a few points (did this a few months ago so confirmed it works). You do NOT need to fly to Vegas if you are already a m-life member.

1. Sign up for Hyatt Chase / get approved (first year free). You will need to also sign up for Hyatt Gold Passport if you are not already a member (free membership). Confirm online that your Gold Passport level is Platinum .

2. Status matching Platinum status Hyatt Gold Passport --> M-Life Gold: You must have "opt in" in order to get status matched.

Link for opt in details: http://www.hyatt.com/content/partner...ort/mlife.html

3. Once you're M-Life gold (check this online), go to the Borgata card desk next to lobby. Show them your M-Life profile on your smart phone which indicates you are M-Life Gold and your ID / red card. They will confirm that names match and issue you a Black card.

4. Go to Amorpha Lounge to celebrate.

I don't know if this still works but if it does, it is the easiest way to get gold via credit card.

This doesn't work anymore, given changes to the Hyatt Gold Passport tiers (more tiers now) and how these tiers map to MLife.

The Hyatt credit card now gives you discoverist status, which is only good for mlife pearl.
