Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, NJ) -- FAQ in OP, updated 2021.08.16 Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa (Atlantic City, NJ) -- FAQ in OP, updated 2021.08.16

I just called the Borgata poker room but would really appreciate if someone at the borgata right now can confirm...

They showed Mayweather-Pacquiao throughout the entire casino (including on all poker room TVs) but obviously paid a huge fee to do so. I didn't expect them to do the same for UFC 202 as I hadn't seen it mentioned on their website. But I decided to call the poker desk anyway just in case, and low and behold the person on the line says they are "trying" to get the fights in the poker room. I confirm "you mean the PPV fights? Not just the ones on cable tv?" And the response was yes.

So I'm confused because I kinda doubt the person I spoke to. They didn't sound 100% sure and perhaps could have been talking about the FS1 prelims.

Is anyone there that could confirm if the actual PPV fights will be shown in the poker room?

Thanks

You sound a lot like a shill.

Nobody's forcing you. If all of your options suck you can just not play.

You guys crack me up.

I'm very happy with the Borgata. There are some things that can be improved, and I'm not sure that things I've seen should be happening in a "well run room".

I've been other places. I'm quite certain, that there aren't any rooms without flaws.

For a lot of people, the positive benefits of playing at the Borgata outweigh the flaws, more so than anywhere else.

It's also likely that the majority of the complaints are going to come from the regulars there. They see the problems, know which ones are typical, and are most interested in change. I won't argue that posting here isn't the best way to get things to change.

Stan used to make a point of following this to see what the players wanted.

Any news posted on Sept series?

Revel isn't opening. neither is pokerstars live room, you haven't heard?

and for all you badmouthing the borgata, the dealers, the staff, the waitresses... that is all complete non sense. they manage to throw two huge tournaments sometimes simultaneously while running the largest poker room in the north east, and bringing you the most variety of action for every player type, all while dealing with your needy, whiney asses.

i'd say they do a terrific job.

I'm in between. Things generally aren't as bad as some of the posts here make it sound. But they're also not as good as they were, and the low end of things is way lower. I don't deny that there are plenty of obvious areas for improvement, for the most part things are just fine. ("Just fine" should be a *minimum* goal.)

If you don't run into any unusual situations†, chances are good that you're not going to see anything terrible. The vast majority of hands will go off without a hitch. I've been there hundreds of hours over the last few years, and never seen any of the completely FUBAR sorts of things that get chewed over in LCP. Even just garden-variety floor calls aren't frequent. I think I've only once seen a floor get something really wrong, and it was an actual floor on a gimme question (did a shove reopen the action to the original raiser) and soon corrected by another. (†Yes, I'll admit that practically anything in a non-hold'em game is too likely to qualify as unusual.)

I wouldn't say everything is wonderful and perfect, but it's also not so bad that I'm motivated to check out an alternative (Parx).

Do people care when you lose a big pot, have $35-40 left, and top up $500? Or is it expected for you to pull back the change and keep exactly $500 on table? Just wondering because I've been putting the loose change in my pocket and it's really annoying.

Who would care if you lost a big pot other than yourself? We all lose big pots. No seriously, if the max buy in is $500, then I would imagine that you can only rebuy for $460 or put away the $40 and buy a full rack.

Just put the 500 on the table. If someone speaks up about you having 540, just apologize and take the 40 off + now you know who an uber nit is

I wouldn't care, nobody else should, but some will. For the most part, players aren't going to poke/needle a player who just nearly busted and is putting a slightly fuller stack on the table.

Sounds like the 2/5 game, and getting a couple of quarters to stick in your pocket to bring you in the 476-499 range shouldn't be too difficult.

Most people don't care, and most of the dealers DEFINITELY don't care unless another player speaks up. If someone does speak up it is usually some dumb nit, but I don't mind if they do. Gives me an easy target for someone to needle/call bs technicalities on later. I do take it off if they say something though, regardless of any comments I may make.

don't care about the waitesses but the dealers and floor have gotten really bad the last few year which is a shame as the room used to be great.

I am a habitual topper-offer in increments of 25 usually. I can probably count the amount of times on one hand that a player has even looked at my stack to see if I'm over. I get politely asked to pull some small chips off the table by the dealer fairly regularly. I'll never be mad at a dealer for nit picking rules. Much better than the other extreme.

I could never see anyone nitpick that anywhere. The only time I've ever seen it done is on a table transfer. If someone sits with 2K I may question it if a dealer dosent unless it's late enough that broken tables are the norm.
