Hi. I'll be in town this coming weekend and I'm looking for info on the Friday & Saturday Quantum Reload tournaments:

Are the "Session A", "Session B" and "Session C" tournaments each completely separate tournaments, or is there some tie-in? About how many runners do each usually get:

Fri Session A 4pm ($30+$10+$30+$5; 11K chips):
Fri Session B 6pm ($50+$15+$50+$5; 15K chips):
Sat Session A 2pm ($30+$10+$30+$5; 9K chips):
Sat Session B 4pm ($50+$15+$50+$5; 13K chips):
Sat Session C 6pm ($70+$20+$70+$5; 17K chips):

Does the regular add-on have to be done at buy-in, or is it up through a certain level?

Is the $5 add-on for extra $1K chips a dealer tip add-on?

Much collusion among the regs going on in these tournaments?

Any info on how these play? Best ones to play?

Do they usually chop or play out?

How long do they usually run?

When does registration end?

The Bike web page says "re-entry until end of registration" but the structure sheets say "one entry per session". Which is it?

I'll be there this weekend, at same time as the LAPC at the Commerce. Do you think that will affect number of entries to these tournaments at the Bike? Up or down?

Any other tips?

Thanks!

Is the 1/3 PLO shown on the last Live at the Bike a regular game?

From the past few times I have been at the Bike, it is offered regularly but does not run even last Saturday night. It should run next month with the WSOPc in town.

Just call the poker section and ask if the game is running.

Kind of... the regularly game that is spread at The Bike is Half/Half round of each: $1/3 PLO and $1/3 PLO8. You can always call ahead to the "Plaza Section" and make sure the game is going 562-806-4646

I will be spreading another $1/3 PLO game on Live at the Bike on Feb. 25. Email me at liveatthebike@pokernetcast.com to lock-up a seat.

I checked the website and it said they are undergoing a renovation. What's the latest?

The $2/$3 game seems very nitty and past 4 sessions I've heard players discussing strategy @ the table. Yesterday these two doofuses were talking about 3bet/4bet strat, ranges, c-betting and etc. Just a lot of poker nerds @ these tables and not enough action/fish for the low stakes it is.

Is this just me or anybody else experienced this? I like 2/3 due to being able to buy OVER 50bb @ low stakes in LA, but does Commerce have a comparable structure?

There's a mock up in the lobby, but I haven't seen any construction starting. Anyone know more?

I know they're working on adding a hotel.

Yeah, there are signs of pending construction out in the front parking lot. Not sure if they actually broke ground.

Pro tip: don't get one of the rooms facing the freeway. You'll be better off with the lovely Bell Gardens view.

Lol at construction being completed by the first quarter of 2015. There does seem to be some activity on the Northern parking lot.

Honestly, the Bike is overall my favorite casino in LA so hoping the addition of the hotel will mean more tables running.

Thanks for posting.

It is nice to see the addition of a brewery in the description of the new facility.

Imagine the ****tiest brewpub you've ever been to. That is probably their best-case scenario. None of the LA cardrooms have had any real success when launching restaurants, since the players mostly eat at the tables. Where the god-awful deli is now, the Bike has had a steakhouse, sushi bar, karaoke, etc. Having a hotel hasn't helped Commerce keep anything going other than their bad sports bar either.

I do hear you on the success of the eating establishments around here. Still fun to imagine the poker themed beer: "Post-Flop Porter", "3-Bet Barleywine", etc.

It's one big tournament. The buy in depends on when you get there, i.e., if you get there at 2PM, you buy in for $30+10, if you get there at 6PM, you buy in for $70+20. Typically will end up with 200-300 buy ins (many people buy in multiple times).

The add-on can be exercised at any time until the buy-in period stops at the add-on cost in effect at the time you exercise your add-on, i.e, if you decide to do your add on at 7PM on Saturday, it will cost you $70 regardless when you entered. But in this donkament, you'd be stupid to not buy in and exercise your add-on immediately so when you double-up you're doubling a full stack and not half a stack.

Yes.

LOL! Nobody who plays this tournament is that good. You will see some soft play amongst friends, but no collusion.

Typical donkament. You need to wade through a bunch of bad play early. After the buy in period is done, the blinds start escalating and rounds shorten to the point that things become a shovefest within a couple hours.

Depends on who's left. If Barbara Enright is playing, I can guarantee you there is no paying the bubble or chopping as long as she is around.

If it plays out - usually until 2-3AM.

Both. You can buy in once per session. If you exercise your add-on and get felted, then you have to wait until the next session to re-enter.

LAPC is finished in early May. Turnout for this weekend's Quantum should be pretty good - more entries on Saturday.

Thanks so much! Sounds like a fun tournament. Any advantage to waiting for a late session to buy-in? Seems like starting at the beginning is the way to go.

I agree with you. The re-entry sessions are there primarily to make the casino more money.

Yeah, I know. My post was cut & paste from my earlier post in January, which went unanswered itt. I forgot to edit out that line. Didn't make it out in Jan, so never found out the answers.
