was here this past weekend for the first time. $2 for a pepsi sucks. 2/2 was entertaining & filled with mostly fun guys enjoying their day off work on Saturday morning but also with a couple of old timers with sticks up their arses. High rake makes it ridiculous to maintain any sort of hourly rate, but if you're just wanting to waste time BS'ing, its a fun time.

2/5 Saturday afternoon was very loose with what appeared to be regs as several of them knew all the dealers, waitresses or masseuses by first name & they were recognized likewise. Each big hand I received was paid off in full by someone getting felted plus at least 3 sometimes 4 people calling 2 streets. All it took was AA, KK twice & a set of 4's to be up $740. Saturday night had more grinders than anything. I switched tables 3 times trying to find the regs but they had all vanished. It was grinder city now. I left up $50 on that 5 hour session.

2/5 Sunday was basically like Saturday night except fewer tables to switch around as there were only 3 2/5's going until night fell around 7p when I had to leave. Grinder city Sunday. I left after my aces were cracked by a grinder's set. I would've thought (and was told by the dealers) that the WPT would attract a lot of attention throughout the weekend but I was disappointed Sunday. Friday night & Saturday were pretty good.

Hoping to go back next weekend. I stayed at Country Inn (I think it used to be Hampton Inn next to Marriott) for $50 a night via expedia. Place wasn't fancy but wasn't a dump either. Bout 15 mins from pokerz. Will look at staying there again. Jax is a zoo with the freakin traffic!

Fyi Holiday Inn Express offers a poker room rate for $69 per nite, I stayed there back in May of this year and it was awesome, super clean & about 2.5 miles from poker room, just my 2 cents worth.

It's not always that nuts with traffic, etc. the uga/UF game was just a couple of miles away saturday and those seem to be the closest hotels.

I was wondering about this. Does the UGA/UF game draw more people in pre/post game? Does it seem like the same number of people? Less people?

I really didn't feel like it affected the poker room busyness

Can anyone recommend a CPA or tax attorney that's versed in tax prep for poker players in Jax.

Hey, arrived today @ poker room around 11:30am, played 2/2, grinded my $200 ss to $415, cashed out & left around 4:30pm, playing the noon session of the 50K Guaranteed tomorrow, I will be wearing blue fishing hat & an black hoodie.

From my experience, not necessarily true. The last 3 times I've been there was a 5/5 NL, 5/5 PLO, and 5/10 PLO game all going simultaneously. Has something changed?

They are currently running daily high hand promotions until the 23rd I think, where the high hand of the hour (between 12pm and 12am) receives 100x the day (so today is $2000). That said, there are lots of 2/4 limit tables going, plenty of $2/$2 action and several $2/5s as well.

I haven't seen any 5/5 or 5/10 NL recently (due to promotions), but have seen some 5/5 PLO and 1/2 Big O.

Thx for info, coming for Event #1 of MSPT next month.

FYI - I was there earlier today and it looked like there were 2 5/10 NL tables running for anyone who's interested.

I played 5/5 PLO on the 13th and we had maybe a 4 hour stretch where the table was full. Other than that, we couldn't keep the table full. Lot of fun, but we basically shipped chips back and forth. One player busted out twice and one player was up maybe $1500 over a 9-hour stretch.

I'm hoping for more players when I return during the MSPT. Hope to see you all there.

One of my friends was at the table when the bad beat for >$200k happened so he got ~$12k. What a luckbox :-)
