when you do that if they take it then you are just cheating someone else out of their rightful seat.
and the floor should be fired.

they never used to do it and doubt is they started.

Understood, good to hear that what I heard was wrong. I don't want to do it, but if I had to in order to not get screwed out of a seat I would.

Some of the floor would do it from time to time, but I knew a floor supervisor that would fire anyone he caught doing it.

Could someone give me the run down on the state of the NL games at Bay? Stakes that usually run, min/max buy?

Particularly interested in the 5/10 and how frequently it runs or if only on specific days

Anyone know what time the monthly $550 Saturday tournaments typically end?

How often does the 20/40, 40/80 and 80/160 games go here?

What time do these games usually start on the weekends?

Thanks!

Is the 1/2/3 game (or equivalent) back / running? According to Poker Atlas it’s not there anymore?

I don't ever see 1/2/3.
The list on atlas is pretty close, but no omaha Friday and Saturday.
Usually 6-8 tables of 2/3/5, a deepstack 2/3/5 or 5/5/10, and >8 tables limit 8/16 or higher.

I'm a reg at this casino, and the biggest gripe I have is their attitude towards drinking. It's not un-common for them to cut people off after 3 or 4 beers, even if they're not acting out or show signs of intoxication. As an example, I was at an awesome table last week, where three separate players bought a round for the table during a 3 hour period, and the floor warned us, and then cut the table off. Lighten up IMO!

I use to know a floor at ma8trix and he told me that San Jose gives them onerous rules. I remember that they could not use food as an enticement to have patrons to gamble, so they had to price it like similar restaurants. No comps of food either which is common in So Cal for certain number of hours played, or an hourly rate. Sounds like the drinking limits are also rules from San Jose, could even be Covid related from the health department. The Santa Clara health department is super conservative even to this day with Covid rules. At one point LA and Santa Clara had rules about bars could not play music and serve drinks.

Are there any plans to bring back bigger tournaments like the old opens they would have in August now that Covid is winding down?

Hey what are the biggest games running during the week/ weekend? I'll be around in SF for the next week and thought hitting San Jose for some poker. I've never played at bay101 or matrix.

Thank you!

I don't play here regularly, but a couple years back I played a few times during the week and the biggest game was a 2/3/5 deep stack which is actually a 2/3/5/10. Though technically I don't think the straddle is mandatory, but it seemed strongly implied that anyone sitting the game would straddle.

And on the weekends they would run a 5/10/20 where I think the max buy in was 7 or 8k.

Poker seems to be booming these days so maybe they get that game during the week now.

Matrix will have a lot less traffic and I assume smaller games overall so probably would just stick with 101.

Again this is based on my very limited experience so take it with a grain of pink Himalayan salt.

Haven't been there in many years, but M8trix used to have the biggest NL in the south bay. There was a guy that hosted the game. I think it ran on Thursdays, typical buy-in stack was 5-6k. They were much bigger after an hour.

100/200 pretty regularly. Used to be 80/160, but they increased the size a few months back. Nothing in between 20/40 and 100/200 though

Thanks. Is there anywhere in the bay area with anything between 20/40 and 100/200?
