Huge satellite turnout today, over 400 players. Makes me think we will have no trouble breaking 1,000 for the championship event.

I can't believe it's legal to promote a 1.1 million dollar prize pool without guaranteeing it.

*prizepool based on 1100 entrants

Last edited by that_pope; 08-10-2017 at 12:33 PM. Reason: Or was it 1000 and they are using 100k from the jackpot pool?

Pretty dumb not to guarantee it honestly.

Will there be any single table satellites running this weekend typically?

Does Sunday typically fill up for max entries?

This might be your best bet. Tweet at them and they might respond. They have posted end of day chip counts in the past, usually the following morning.

They really need to make sure this tournament coincides with SHRPO every year going forward. Ratio absolutely on point this year.

backpackey. They weren't bad there was just an obnoxious level of seriousness and long tense staredowns.

Backpackey was a good thing, had a few "pros" unload their roll from their backpacks onto my 5/10 game.

Andrew Neeme was at TSR to play the tourney but it was full so he played cash games instead. He mentioned in his vlog that the $3/5 was very Vegas grinder heavy.

How is that done? Does he put his phone on a tripod and film himself? Carry it around and film? Have somebody else do the filming?

Carry it himself except for the shots at the end which are obviously by drone.

He is likely the most meticulous blogger in terms of good quality shots, so he probably has a bit left on the 'cutting room floor'.

I have a tripod that fits in my pocket. The legs are about 4 inches long and made of a heavy flexible wire. Since they are flexible you can easily set it up on uneven surfaces to square up the camera.

Anyone wanna speculate on seniors event number? The placard outside poker room estimates $67k prize pool. I was hoping for $200k-- 400 runners. Pope, you eligible yet? Anyone have a guess?

I played a bit in the Sun morning 7 card stud game. Today was the first day that they upped the ante to $1 per hand (from $0.50) which caused some grumbling from the regs and none of the dealers knew it, the news was literally getting passed around from dealer to dealer as they changed shifts. Otherwise it was a typical low limit, rake trap game.

Compared to hold em there is a lot more information to keep track of and I was getting overwhelmed (your cards, your opponents upholdings, folded cards, pot size, pot odds, etc), especially since it's a low limit game and they expect everyone to act quickly. It'd be an interesting challenge to try and get good at this game, but ultimately for naught since there isn't really any money to be won.
