They blend in pretty well with $5 chips. They should also get bigger denominations I would think.

Since I don't play much cash I don't worry too much about comps...

...but why couldn't they install the system Fort McDowell uses? Dealer swipes each player's card via a card reader built right into the table, and presses button when player leaves. Instant, accurate credit of actual time played, and if you take extended break they can even "log you out" temporarily.

CAZ just seems to do so many things bass ackwards.

I did not know you have to re-check-in at intervals.
Stupid, but they could at least have had ONE of the following people explain it:
The guy at service desk who printed out my players card,
The guy who helped me use reserv. system computer,
The girl who announced my seat,
Any of the four dealers during my play,

Yah I was stupid too for not asking what the system was when I realized the dealer wasn't gonna "check me in".

Anything done at the table costs at least part of a hand and therefor a lot of money/year.

Don't know how accurate this is, but someone in a game at CAZ told me that one of the honchos at Ft. McDowell is one of the patent holders for the checkin system used there and doesn't want their competitors to be allowed to use it.

Nah I don't buy that explanation... patented card reader technology is in use everywhere - every ATM machine, every debit card transaction at checkouts, gas station pumps... and imo you couldn't patent a simple data connection between a table card reader and the casino's computers.

Perhaps I'm wrong but that answer just seems like an excuse, not a valid reason. And Howard's answer as well, it take dealers at The Fort NO TIME at all to check players in and out - it is extremely efficient and accurate.

So if the "four hour check-in" thing is true, I can go play one hand every day, leave the casino and be credited for four hours every day? Such a deal! But the casino is more worried about losing 5 seconds of rake each time a player is seated?

You ever play at Gila? They waste a lot of time swiping and pushing buttons.

There is no way swiping in at the table takes no time. "you have a card sir?" "yea right here, wait, in my other pocket, oops maybe my bag" " sir this card doesn't work" "maybe it's your reader", "floor! My reader doesn't seem to be working" "his cards out of date, he'll need a new one".

Raked players rarely care about hand speed, but in mid limits we are trying to get hands out. The time pot is out and ready as the dealer sits and heaven help a dealer who tries to make change for it first. Get the hand out first! Is what will likely beyelled at them. When I need change I wait until the action starts and the dealer has a free moment.

I'd puke if they slowed my game swiping in and out. I don't pay time to sit and wait.

They use the table swipe system in Connecticut, AC, and half of Vegas. It doesn't take time at all becaue the dealer sets the card down until there is a pause in the action or when he only needs one hand.

Not sure how to respond to this, because in my experience it takes hardly any effort to get a card from someone and swipe them in while a hand is in play.

I think it's more about the employee than the system.

l'll take your word for it. I posted that because Ft McDowell doesn't run many, if any, time games so I didn't know if they appreciated the time impact. I'm also not a fan of increasing dealer workload, there is too much to do already.

Its opposite from the Casino perspective. They don't care how many hands you get if you are paying time, but do in rake games. Which is why I call 8/16 their biggest profit game by far, because the game plays quicker, the pots almost always hit the pot max, and it doesn't have the NL stare at each other for 2 minutes factor.

They use these at Foxwoods and I have not seen a problem with them.

Have you ever played in a casino using the Bravo or similar system? It's not bad, once the dealers get good at it.
Swiping in and out at the table takes very little time, really. A good dealer won't wait to deal while the player fumbles around for his card, and will get some of the actual swiping in done internally to other action (ie, while he or the table is doing something else).
Also, it avoids players losing comp points when they forget to sign in or out at the desk, so on balance I think it's actually positive for the reg players even in a time-charged game.
The final argument is that if it resulted in fewer hands dealt per hour, casinos wouldn't use it for raked games, because it would cost them $, but most now do, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't slow the game much, if at all.

Just a side note for you regs that play at CAZ. Swipe your player card whenever you get up for any reason. If you don't do it with in the 4 hour time limit you wont get credit for those 4 hours. (IE. if you swipe when you get in and then notice its been 4 hours and its been 4:01 hours you wont get credit for those 4 hours.) Swipe it often and just make it a habit so you get your full due.

^ is why I think the system only serves to withhold comps from the unaware or uncareful. There is absolutely no reason why they need that requirement.

But as long as that's their policy; are they not checking that you are actually at the table? That's an exploitable gap if they aren't capping your daily hours.

All of the spread limit holdem tables 9 handed?
Are the games playing any different than the old room w/ new players wanting to try the new rooms ect?
Is there a poker room rate at the hotel?
Anyone stayed there yet? Rooms look nice, but $189-$209 for the basic room?

Yes.

I don't think so?

I doubt it.

I don't think the hotel has opened yet.

So I've played 4 days/nights in the new building. I've had losing sessions for 3 of them, including my worst losing session ever there by far. I'm starting to think they built the new building on someone's grave or something. Please don't let it be cursed....

How many years of experience do you have in patent litigation?

Regarding the comp system installed, my guess is they didn't want to come out of pocket for the $100k+ for hardware/installation for the Bravo system (which I assume is what The Fort is using based on previous posters).

I haven't played in AZ for years, and I don't know how many tables the new room has, but Bravo isn't cheap. Based on someone's comment of 35 tables open, I assume there are around 50 tables? Also, I think there is a monthly service fee for service, just like the shufflemachines.
