Ended up at 226. I built up a 60k stack in around an hour and a half and then blew up, blowing all of it after tilting from a lost coin flip.

I need to get better at controlling myself =/

I played well and ran good which was unusual for me... until this hand happened with about 50-60 players left.

1K/2K/200 blinds (I think), there's an all in from middle position with about 25K... then a reraise (from a well known reg who has me and entire table covered), then a THIRD all in from a 15K stack... and I wake up in the BB with cowboys... no way I'm ever folding kings in a monster pot so I call for my entire 62K and the whole table goes nuts seeing all this action. LOL

Hands: initial shove flips A3o, reg has JJ, other all-in also has JJ. Feelin pretty good obv, only three outs to dodge. No suspense, no surprise - ace right in the window. Yawn. What else is freakin new? I run worse than a 1975 AMC Pacer with no oil in it.

After the eternity it took to sort out the stacks, I realized I did end up with a 10K profit on the hand to get me to 72K... so I wasn't crushed, just disappointed knowing I could've had over 160K in front of me and probably been one of the chipleaders. By the time blinds got to 4K/8K I was in desperate shove mode and my 4BB A8s push ran into the same lucky dude who held queens in the blinds. No miraculous ace for me (obv) and I walked out 10 short of the money in 35th. Fun day, but meh. gg, gl and FML.

We all need to get better at controlling ourselves. My new plan is to only play once a month, and only in the $345 deepstack. It really is a great tournament - the best we have here locally by far. The 10% rake is absolutely fair and the payout structure is well worth the shot ($16K+ for first with 226 runners and mincash was for twice the buyin at $667 which is exactly how it should be). No more Tues/Wed nites or Bounty for me, sick of being raked to death and the awful payout structures. 30 days between tourneys seems like an awfully long time, but I think it will ensure I show up mentally ready to play - happy, positive, focused and patient.

Re: The Arena Poker Room at Casino Arizona's Talking Stick Resort (Scottsdale, AZ)

Doesn't this weekend have an identical structure, just with half of the buy-in going towards bountys and a $35 rake on $200 compared to a $45 rake on 300? 17.5% to 15%, not much difference imo... and the bounty thing decreases variance by a bajillion since two knockouts is equivalent to breaking even. Cashing is no longer of insane importance to realizing your equity.

Obviously the $35 rake on $125 is just plain obnoxious, and the structure is terribad, so I can understand avoiding that tournament but avoiding next week for anything other than a break seems -EV.

What time does the bounty start and do you need to get there pretty earlier or can you just show up 15 till and sign up?

You can just show up and stand in line like a majority of people...

I agree its the best we have locally and the structure and payout allows me to not be frustrated with tournaments in general like the Tues/Wed events...

I'm guessing a combination of nits and nonstop jackpot talk.

I dislike it when it hits right as I was going to leave the room and have to hurry up or else stay an extra 30 minutes.
