$1.50 18-SNG... 6 players left, 4 cash

UTG (25BB) raises 2.2BB, folds round to Hero in BB with TT (18BB), I call

Flop 3d 6h 7d

Hero bets 3BB, Villain shoves, Hero calls - V shows As5d

Turn 4d

River Kc

How should I have played that differently? I'm feeling a check [bet] shove on the flop, but can't work out why that would have been better. (I was protecting / value-betting against overcards on the flop.)

Thoughts, criticisms?!

I like to donk bet on wet flops like that with draws or strong made hands. If you check intending to check/call or check/jam, villain will check behind quite often and you have to deal with overcards on later streets.

I don't like open shoving with this sort of stack size, you kill all your action vs weaker hands. Let them 3bet jam with a much wider range.

Actually I think your PF open is too big. When you open, you're going to have to fold to a 3bet shove quite often so if you make your open size smaller, say with 2-2.2BB, you save yourself quite a lot of chips in the long run.

As the stack sizes get shallower, you should reduce your bet sizings as a whole because you're putting pressure on a large part of everyone's stack with whatever opening size you choose.

Yeah ignore the last part of my previous post - I mixed up the flop action thinking it was PF.
