Hey all,

as PS.fr is closing down for me, i will restart playing on PS.eu.
I am thinking of grinding it up via mttsngs.
Can you tell me something about the quality of the games there?
Fish-to-Reg ratio?
What about the different buy in levels? Anything specific?
What about these 6max mttsngs - do they run?

thanx for some input!

Just giving this thread a bump, would love to know the opinions of the MTTSNG forum on this.

I've been playing a few 180s, final tables seem to be packed with multitabling regs.

Are these games still profitable to a player who wishes to make these their main game?

Out of all the MTT SNGs, which would you say have the softest fields?

Are the $3.50 rebuys still a viable option?

What would the be the best MTTSNG to grind to learn the basics (taking buy in level out - focusing on player numbers/entrants).

I used to grind MTTs and MTT SNGs a few years ago but have just got back into the game recently, so I have a good understanding of the fundamentals of MTT SNGs

Thank you for your help, hope to post in this forum more regularly!

I started playing $2.5 180 MTTSNG's on PS.eu few days ago as well. I've played MTT's about 5 years ago, and starting this whole poker thing again

Obviously I don't have any valid sample size, but by the looks of it, seems like early/mid-stages on these are filled with maniacs/fishes. Made one top 4 finish and the FT seemed to be a bit reg-heavy.

If I'd have to guess, with huge volume you can be fairly profitable on these.

Games are still very beatable. Mixing in different styles of games a few soft sattys and such and playing approx 8 per day you should be able to hit about $200 US for the day as a good player, but even to get to this level it will take time.. is it worth the time and effort? That's up to you! There are also several players who make more then this but those are few and far between.

Lots of practice with a chip ev/icm calculator and time spent reviewing your play will go along way! Happy grinding

thanks oldschool. ( what soft sattys do you recommend?)

ive decided to use this thread as a small "blog" of my 30 days of grinding. Each day i will post my results and one hand i found interesting/challenging. Because of my roll i cant play 3.5 and above any more, so I will grind 2.5s only. Yesterday was my first day and i was disappointed by the volume i could get. Barely could get 14 tables running. I ran bad, so that didnt help either.

Day1:

Trnys: 68
ITM: 14%
Roi: -69%
Profit: -117$

My only FT of the day. There are 3 roughly equal stacks and one baby stack who plays really tight. I could have shoved this hand easily. Cause the other players would have to call extremely tight. And putting on ICM pressure is def good. But

a) i dont know if they know that. and if they call it with a range that is ok in chip ev i am actually hurting myself alot here.

b) its a higher variance play, and i think i have an advantage post flop over the other players.

So I decide to minr. Now the small blind min3bets.

Thoughts?

Doubts on which line to follow,

I know that the amount of games is like a spit in the wind.

I think the min raise was the best play (actually you bet 2.2BB and I think either 2.0BB or 3.0+BB may have been a better choice. The extra 0.2 is not going to put off a 3-bet much but 3.0 may be seen like an indication that you mean business and scare them. )
Sadly it is probably safer to fold to this min 3-bet, you could call but this gets dangerous. I wouldn't call unless I knew the player's style well and if the min 3-bet was a common ploy.

I think open pushing would be a mistake, you have to either try this mr/fold line or just fold. I suspect the big stacks would possibly call you too wide to get a profit, I think it probably at or near break even $-wise. It would often be hard to decide how they play here so as it is close it is best to keep safe.

Here you are in what SnG players often call "The cage", and you often have to wait for either a good hand or the dynamic to change. The mr line might have succeeded and could have got you the power to break out early and take control - it was worth a go.

I got a question: What is you guys opening range from the CO. Do you open low offsuit aces there for instance?

jam both hands imo, if not, i think 2 bb's is actually a better open in first one since he will be less inclined to 3bet, and in the second I think open folding low aces is the best play, just a stab in the dark, gl gl

In a high varience format the only way u will be one of the biggest winners will be by taking the highest varience plays.

Hi!

Luckily for me day 5 went a lot better. I played my A game during the entire session. Could have been an awesome result if i did not have 3 coolers (lineup wise) for big pots on FTs. AT < AQ (bbvsb) and AQ<AK (bb vs b) JJ < KK. But all in all happy with this result

Day5:

Trnys: 79

Roi: +96%
Profit: +189$

Overall:

Trnys: 431

(If i only look at 2.5$ i have 105$ profit and 10% roi).

but the advantage of nits is that they also fold to 3bets way to much. + icm for him is not so good here. but yeah. he is pretty tight.

sick, from the looks of it ur running terrible when it matters the most

altho, a better indicator of runbad/variance imo is looking at that graph in bbs won / hands played rather than chips won/tourneys played. Add bb/100 and ai bb/100 in the information box and that should paint a better picture.
