Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
its a matter of choice, okerchamp likes 4 max tables near the bubble (so do I) and Alex wants full(ish) tables... there is not better or worse, its just a preference...
oh and Alex, its attrocious how you support the status quo; standstill cannot be the sollution

Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
Like I said before, the RUSH and ZOOM algorithms are different. Let me explain why FTP's Rush algorithm is inferior.
Lets just use cash games because its the easiest to show why. Imagine there was one huge fish with 1 entry, and 10 sharks with 4 entries. Normally each "shark" entry should have a 5 in 40 chance to play the fish (5 remaining seats, 40 remaining entries with 1 fish-entry among those 40. So a 1 in 8 chance.)
RUSH algorithm: Put you in the pool as soon as you quickfold. Makes you more likely to play other quickfolders. You are less than 1 in 8 to play the fish.
ZOOM algorithm: More complicated algorithm that makes you 1 in 8 to play the fish.
Look at PS right now. I notice in the highest limit for zoom cash, there are 40 players with 160 hands an hour; and at all other limits with much more players, it is about 225ish hands an hour. It is because of this algorithm difference. Also this algo difference was explained to me. Now, on FTP, when a rush pool was pretty short player-wise, the hands per hour were pretty similar (I remember from playing them)
-----
And of course I like 4max tables near the bubble. But fish don't. If they did, PS would already be dealing the entire tourney 4max.
-----
Finally any promos must be based solely on how much you play, instead of based off roi/winning. Because promos must be aimed at fish, and leaderboard-esque things that favor people with higher rois give all the money to regs. You want promos like partypoker has that are straight up luck, and the way to win them is to keep playing.

There's no reason that Stars can't cater for skilled leagues aswell as luck.

Fish <3 Rush
we <3 4max
<3 is all we need
Rush on demand is a different game than all the tournys on PS. Let's keep FTP and not get a PS clone

I agree in principle, but i think there is some middleground, for example instead of win 3 different buy ins; CASH in 3 different buy ins, thats a much more achievable goal for a rec

Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
Ok, to bring a few ideas full circle:
MTTSNG month
“raise your game to the next level, transition from STT to MTT”
First: adjust buy-ins of MTTSNG to steps buy ins (or introduce new ones for this promotion)
First week: run various mtt steps tournaments, like the step 1 feeder but also for the higher steps. Maybe give people a free step 1 tournament if they reload? Or some other thing to get people to collect Step tickets for the next weeks...
Second week: 27man mttsng with step 1, step 2 and step 3 buyin. Cash in 3 of them and receive a step ticket equal to the highest placement (so if you place 4th in the step 1, 3th in the step 2 and won the step 3 you get a step 3 ticket). Max one per day (or best three results per day count).
Third week: 45 man mttsng with step 1, 2 & 3
Fourth week: 180 man mttsng with step 1, 2 & 3
You can even throw in a leader board of some kind
Making it a month only limits cost. Only accept the step tickets for the limited promotion period (I would love to have this all the time, but as a trial run …?)
Gives an incentive to play, revives steps, gets people interested in MTTSNG that previously were not interested.

Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
Dont want to sound like a moron or anything but how many promotions or ideas have gone live with this thread? it seems more like a discussion between players about which fantasy promotion would be better for us.
MTSNGs community is really forgotten by pokerstars, its F'ing hard to get good volume, even decent, running in off peak hours.
Stars really has to really do something about it b/c we're stuck with a lot of regs and only decent volume running in peak hours (3-4hours max a day).
Going back to subject the thing about happy hour is getting games running at different times.
Just my small 2c. gl.

Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
I think my idea of changing the 180s to 90s during non peak hours is great way to help get games running. Around 4-5pm Pacific time the $8 and $15 180 really load slow, this would be around the time they could stop creating new 180s and start Turbo 90s and run them until 7-8am Pacific time.
Not sure if dropping the buy ins to $5 and 12 would help traffic during non peak but we gotta get Stars to do something because there is no traffic during non peak hours and for casual players in Canada and other parts of world that want to play MTT/SNG have no option.

Re: *** OFFICIAL PokerStars MTTSNG Suggestion Thread ***
Theory:
There are three groups of poker players, cash players, MTT players and SNG players. All dable in the other in one for or the other, but I am confident everybody falls into one of the three groups with the majority of his play.
Maybe the group of SNG players is the biggest group of regular withdrawees (or the one creating the least net-cash for Pokerstars) and that is the reason we get no love. They just make more money for themselves on MTT and cash as less of a percentage gets withdrawn from the PS economy.
Thoughts?

alternative suggestion
cut 8s, replace with 5s, as well as 8 rebuys. that makes abi scale 2.5 - 5 - 10 - 15 - 24 - 35 instead of 2.5 - 8 - 10 - 15 - 35
Also, seperate leaderboard for MTTSNGs, cause 180s can't compete for MTT leaderboard
