Yeah this. But in saying that, if villain is a "competent reg", it's not really possible for him to be tight enough here for us to not jam.
03-19-2012 , 08:58 AM
some villains are only raising nutted stuff there.. look at the stacks behind
not saying i fold
03-19-2012 , 09:31 AM
The stacks behind are all deep, I dont see how any kind of reg would only be opening nutted stuff here? Not having a r/f range would be a massive leak.
03-19-2012 , 09:58 AM
But what does he have to be rf/rc to make a reshove profitable here? I don't like calling, folding, 3-betting or re-shoving. It's just an awkward spot.
03-19-2012 , 11:17 AM
Do you have any stats / history on the villain? I would be particularly interested in hands, vpip, pfr and fold to 3bet. There are some regs who would r/f so wide its spewy and some who would only ever r/c (thus telegraphing their range). Without indentifying the type of reg, ranging is kind of hard.

oh where oh where has the shen888 gone? gg poker?

kinda weird since i expect 88 and tt to bet flop everytime, aa to 3b pre mostly. most regs wont flat aj pre (esp ajo) but will still bet ajs on flop... i guess he can tt. regs just never bluff in this spot, ESPECIALLY with 2 other ppl to act behind, so im ok with the fold even if his value range is that narrow.

Yup, was pretty close to making the call, because he's repping so narrow a valuerange, then realized he doesn't have a bluffing range.

Just checkin if this shove is legit 4.50 180man top18. New table and Villian is 20/20 but only 20 hands so basicly no stats for him. I have feeling thats its a no brainer but needs to check anyway.
    03-27-2012 , 03:29 AM
    in reverse order

88 beyond standard.. shoving 22 is usually fine, let alone 88

a8s i shove pre, first limper is "sometimes" trapping, second is virtually never, and a8s plays well + loads of dead money. as played i prob just ship over the bet, and as played i guess call.

a7o depends on villain, with no further info it's prob fine but a bit thin cause of icm

im pretty tight here, qq aks maybe.. ako and jj at widest, aqs and tt are very clear folds and even jj/ako i'm not thrilled about

those hands mostly depend on reads. if you only know he is a reg, then i would go with a somewhat tightish default range. i would flat the jj and probably down to 99. we have pretty poor odds to directly set mine but 99-jj has a bit more value than the smaller pairs, we should be prepared to fold overpairs sometimes tho. i prob 4b small or ship qq ako, but if we had raised in EP instead this might change a bit tighter. but qq ako vs. a random/unknown can never be too bad.

the ak spots are both kinda lame. depends completely on regs. in both spots i prob just meh/flat. kt depends reg but is prob like kts kjo a4s a7o 44 or something like that with no further info. this changes (usually wider) with more info. 77 prob like 99 aqs ako.

the q5s is a very big mistake, limpers range is loose and he will fold to jams but you have such a short stack that you have no fold equity, at least one will call you. good thing is sometimes only one calls, so you get good pot odds, but not enough for q5s to be a shove. like q9s qjo or something. also if you have like 10+ bb you have more fold equity but i still dump q5s cause it's equity isn't good.

second is very standard snap vs anyone decent and still a call vs randoms/fish
        03-28-2012 , 05:33 PM
I had a hard time with this Q5s because the blinds were about to go up and I had all these fishy limpers in front of me. I decided that its better to shove with tiny fold eq. than just wait out for next level when my fold eq. would be virtually 0.
        04-02-2012 , 03:44 AM
Is anyone folding here or standard call? I knew both villains are good regs but I didn't have much in the way of stats on them at this point. On the tournament bubble.

Hey guys. This is half-way through a $3.5r 180. Is this an easy re-ship? I'm relatively new to the $3.5rs and trying to feel my way around them a bit. People seem to be shoving a lot deeper than in the freezeouts and they seem to play more like a cross between a std 180 and a turbo MTT. Does this sound right or am I over-thinking it? I'm gonna post a few more hands here I think and would appreciate some input.

Anyway, both villains in this hand are regs. The original raiser UTG is pretty decent and I have 1.2k hands on him - over which he's run at 17/14. The cold-caller is 19/13 over 1.1k hands and not so competent but is ok-ish. Seems pretty nutted when a decent reg min raises <10bb UTG.
