All it is , is a way of assigning real $ value to a chip stack.
Are you saying you don't understand what it is? or are you saying you don't know how it should effect your game?
I recommend moshmans book. 'Sit and go strategy' its a little dated now but will give you a good grounding in understanding ICM and how it effects your game. It covers STT's really but a lot is transferable.
Also in STT's the ICM tax on confrontations can be colossal, so makes a good framework to learn the implications of ICM.
There must be articles that cover the same ground I guess.
ICM is for assigning value to chips stacks. Basically using the probability of each player finishing in what payout positions. Chip values are not linear having 99% of the chips doesn't mean you can win 99% of the prize pool you can only earn the money from 1st place
Look into BF Bubble Factor. This is assigning a value to the ICM tax on a collision with an individual.
