Was This Bluff Completely Stupid? Was This Bluff Completely Stupid?

My reasoning was that opponent was playing like 10 tables (but one of those guys who apparently doesn't know how to hide himself in the "find this player" search) and was just folding to every bet and betting into uncontested pots in very routine manner. Yeah I know I had like 13 hands on him but it was just something I see all the time in this type of microstakes multi-tabler. Like I KNEW if I didn't bet the turn myself, he would. And when he did I just decided he had nothing. Obviously my line was founded on some shaky intuition rather than range/distribution considerations…but is that ever ok? Feel like is particuarly made sense in the 45 player SNG format where you either chip up or die......

There's a lot going on here.

First, I like a cbet on this board a lot. Paired boards are generally very good to cbet as it's so unlikely they've hit, and his calling range isn't wide enough to have many 6s.

10 tables isn't a lot, many regs play 20 or more and still play great poker. At 10 tables I can spend a decent amount of time on every hand (I normally play 20 for 6 hours or so), so don't think he will be making decisions hastily.

When the 3rd Q comes on the turn, I don't think many good players are stabbing at this because it doesn't make sense as a bluff. He is repping pocket pairs, a 6, or a Q. A very small portion of his calling range. But, because you checked the flop, a call might be good here. Ace high will be good vs his bluffing range.

You have to think about what cards he is going to stab at on the turn and why. If he is a thinking player at all then he won't bet 100% of turn cards vs you (an unknown).

Your logic of him betting the turn a lot is based on what? The idea of betting routinely into uncontested pots is not something that a player who folds to every bet is going to do. The former is something a player on the more aggressive and smarter side would do, the latter is something a tight reg or weak passive player would do. It's rare you will find both those tendencies in one player.

As played, call or fold is better on the turn, if you think he's bluffing you've probably just tried to bluff him with the best hand.

Which better hands than yours, are you waiting your villain to fold in the first place?
