It's really not about this hand specifically, but more with medium pairs from early/mid position with 15-20 bb. What's best. r/f, openshove, fold pre. I tend to be a bit tighter in the 180s, compared to large field MTT's. What are you doing?
Mmmmm, its a tough spot for severall reasons...First your position (Specially since ur in a 8 handed table), your stack and your card..I agree with Furo regarding its a lot better to just open jam, keep it simple and take the preflop profit, since jamming 16bb wont get u that many callers cuz ur repin a lot stronger range than just 88s, but at these 180s with 15min blind level it feels almost like your spewing off. And by R/C it seems a lot more risky cuz the 3bet range that breakseven for us its 88+,ATs+,KJs+,AJo+,KQo so making this play a lot more villain dependant, if u believe most of the villain u have behind are capable of 3bet shoving on u a lot wider than that range than u can R/C a lot more profitable and R/F to any nit that might be out there, but remember this also depends on your image at the table at that time, if you have been playing TAG u wont get 3bet shoved on wider than that range above making open shoving a lot better but if u have played a LAG style then R/C its the best option imo.
