25c/90, EP open with AJ, LP call, low board, vil donks 1/5

edit: title should read BB call so position makes sense

Maybe this should be a beginner question as i'm still learning. Any advice for a newbie is much appreciated.

Blinds 50/100, ~35 left
Hero (UTG+2) 1950 (19.5bb)
Villain (BB) 11,811 (118 bb)
stacks in between are 5k, 1.5k, 3.6k, 5k

(6 handed, UTG, UTG+1, MP1 missing)

I open from UTG+2 with AJo for 250

BB calls, board is 7 8 6 r, pot is 550

Villain leads for 100.

This is where I need help. PF, I raised 2.5x with AJo to steal the blinds/thin value, but with 17bb behind I would consider stacking off to a 3bet. I get called by the big stack, and donked into for 1/5 pot on a low board. In my (albeit limited) experience in these micro tourneys, this generally means villain has hit a piece of the flop, usually not top pair.

How would you play this? Should I raise and rep an overpair? Check/calling feels like i'm turning my hand face up and villain is just going to vbet me for 3 streets. Folding for 1/5 pot with two overcards that are usually good feels weak, however if an ace or paint falls i'm probably not getting paid off (although any paint may be a good bluff card).

With 17bb behind, I hate check/calling to the river, losing ~7bb, and a flop shove just looks weird and feels transparent. Fold/shove pre?

Thoughts? thanks.

not very certain myself here. Think a fold is fine with such a weak field.

No reads on villain?

He was limping into a lot of pots and calling small raises when he was in LP/blinds. I was playing ~16% of hands (no HUD, rec player) but I doubt many people are keeping track in a 25c sng.

fold is fine here against a random because of your stack size, but I would rather raise him - you have the initiative in the hand and such small bets from villains mean a couple of things:
- a weak made hand - second/third pair, underpair, weak top pair (which he'll likely fold to raises)
- a draw (any kind)
- two overcards that hope to catch up cheaply and go to showdown
If I was deep stacked, I would raise him to 400/450 (completely disregard his raise and act as if I was continuation betting) and continue on the turn if a scare card hit.
I think you have these scenarios:
- fold (a somewhat mediocre decision)
- raise him and shove turn if a paint hits and not a card like 4, 5, 9 (I like it)
- call and get cheaply to the river (I don't like it)
- raise him and if you don't improve and he leads again, fold (I hate it because of our stack)
hope this helps - never overthink a weak bet
