2.5$ 180 - early stage TPTK against reg

MP is a reg. No special notes on him. UTG is a spewy fish.

erted_hand][hand_history]Poker Stars, $2.28 Buy-in (10/20 blinds) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 9 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #13131971

MP2: 1,500 (75 bb)
MP3: 1,490 (74.5 bb)
CO: 630 (31.5 bb)
Hero (BTN): 1,470 (73.5 bb)
SB: 2,310 (115.5 bb)
BB: 1,530 (76.5 bb)
UTG+1: 2,262 (113.1 bb)
UTG+2: 808 (40.4 bb)
MP1: 1,500 (75 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with K A
UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 calls 20, MP1 folds, MP2 raises to 80, 2 folds, Hero calls 80, 2 folds, UTG+2 calls 60

Flop: (270) A 5 8 (3 players)
UTG+2 bets 728 and is all-in, MP2 calls 728, Hero calls 728

Turn: (2,454) T (3 players, 1 is all-in)
MP2 checks, Hero bets 662 and is all-in, MP2 calls 662

River: (3,778) 7 (3 players, 2 are all-in)

I put MP on a tight range here 99+ AQ+ because we're so deep and no antes.

What range do you put him on after he calls the UTG shove?

FD or SD are not in his range imo. He gets no odds to call and he's flatting with another player left to act that can reraise.

I was having a hard time putting him on a range. His overcall is really weird.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Imo his range might be something like 77+, AQo+, AJs+, so if UTG is a station, he could be easy calling down his show w AQo or set of 8's is possible as well.

Re: 2.5$ 180 - early stage TPTK against reg

I think we are facing at least one FD, I see UTG+2 with it or even a medium pair.
MP2 is a reg so his raising range pre includes 77+ as well as any AJs+ AQo+ if he is a LAG reg it can include some weird KQs sheisse played for increasing his range but unlikely.
Why would he just call with a flush draw possible on the flop if he had TP ? Can he see that as a +EV move with TPTK trying to induce a raise from a FD? I don't think so.
He wants to drag you in with a FD to get the good odds ? bleh.
I imagine more easily a set. He doesn't seem scared to be reraised by you having TP.
I see him on a set 85% of the time and the last 15% mixed between weird ass FD or TP2K both being incredibly weirdly played.
So I would have a hard time folding on the flop even though, the more I think about it the more it seems the right thing to do. Because shoving can't be profitable, he seems unscared of any raise by his call.
But being in the action, I suppose I do as played by op. But man, I want to fold otf because of that action.

If he is a deece tight(ish) reg, you are just isolating yourself by 3b pre. What hands do you think he 4b shoves (QQ+, AK maybe just kk+), what hands do you think he calls (should be none) and then he folds everything you beat pretty much. By flatting we keep in the hands we dominate aq, aj etc and keep in the bad utg player.

I think op played it well and I play it the same.
