I don't think I've ever seen a link to your toon. Is this on purpose?

PM me for Battletag etc. if you're interested in doing whatever cross-realm pvp stuff is available once the patch hits.

I don't have a regular raid group so PvP is probably what I'll do most.

I think I've posted my priest before. I'm not intentionally staying private or anything. (Aside from hiding my embarassing server choice - Moon Guard, lol. I didn't know any better when I started playing, and too cheap for transfers).

I'm sending you a PM with my gamertag. Definitely up for some bg's and whatever else with some 2+2'ers.

lol, 19 minutes left to order Mists on Amazon and have 2-day shipping get it to you on Tuesday.

What spec do you usually play on your Priest? What's your favorite type of PvP? Areans? Capture the flag? King of the hill style?
09-21-2012 , 03:42 PM
I play Disc mostly, with Shadow as off-spec. I will be playing and gearing for Disc in MoP unless they end up being terrible.

What class is your main?

I'm into any PvP really. I've been leaning more towards RBG's then Arena, but it depends on what is going on. The only thing I don't really like is IoC.

My main is my Mage. Generally I play Fire. I haven't gotten acquainted with the other two specs since the patch. I haven't done any Rated Battlegrounds but I'd like to try them. Random Battlegrounds are awesome when I have a healer to run with.

topher and I ran Arena 2's as Fire/HPally to 1550 before S11 ended.

I highly doubt I'll even log into any of my horde characters at all for at least the first week. First day will of course go towards leveling my druid, and then after that it'll probably be either gearing myself/guildies up, pvping on my druid, or leveling my shaman.

I can't remember, how does spell power from temp buffs work? Does it get factored into current dots or do you need to reapply dots with the buff active to get te benefit?

Just wondering for making macros to maximize trinket use.
09-21-2012 , 06:16 PM
Yeah well I hope I see you in a BG. Prepare to burn.
09-21-2012 , 06:33 PM
Found a DK just standing afk in the middle of the map on IoC and decided to have some fun. Opened up on him, Combustion and everything. A Resto Shaman comes in and pulls him back from the brink just in time. The DK comes back, and I proceed to kite the Shaman, the DK, and a Hunter for about 3 minutes. We go from the middle of the map to behind the Alliance base to back to the middle, and then I'm heading towards the docks. Got the cauterize debuff, Ice Block is on CD, and I finally manage to get far enough ahead to where I'm out of combat. I escape with 5% health, woot! Time to gtfo.

Then my rocket belt malfunctions and kills me.

AFAIK, at least right now, your dots are a snapshot of your stats when they were applied. So temporary buffs will only effect a dot if you have the temporary buff when the dot is applied. If you apply a dot with a temporary buff, the dot is buffed for the duration of the dot, it does not lose the buff when the buff wears off.

It really amazes me how far people will chase just to get 1 kill in a BG. I had a lot of fun with this right after 5.0.4 when healers (and druids in particular) were crazy OP. Run in somewhere, "aggro" 5+ people, run away from the node/base/whatever, ???, profit since I have half their team on me away from the objective.

Haven't done any pvp in about 3 weeks so I have no idea if healers are still OP or not.

They're still hard to kill but they either got nerfed or I'm getting better with the changes to Fire because lately it's like they're mortal after all.

from some small checking, it seems Crit is the only thing that might be dynamic throughout the life of the dot. int (sp) and haste are definitely dependent on when it was cast. Guess this worked out a lil different for spriests back when sw: p was always refreshed by mind flay.

Hmm... should we do anything special for release night?

Sadly, I have school the next morning bright and early, so i'm not sure I'll even be able to play. I have a test the day after release night, too. x.x

Anything for the forum, though?

topher live stream imo

Yeah, with SW:P it was probably getting snapshotted again when it was refreshed, though I don't know the specifics behind that. The wording is very important though, because with boomkins for example, crits with your nuke have a chance to extend the duration on that dot (so wrath extends the duration on sunfire, starfire extends the duration on moonfire, and starsurge extends the duration on both I believe, though it might just be the eclipsed dot I'm not completely sure, haven't really been paying much attention the past few weeks). But the wording specifically says that it just extends the duration, not that it refreshes it or anything. So let's say sunfire goes up completely unbuffed, then you use a spell power trinket, and then you crit with wrath and the increased duration thing procs. The sunfire's duration is increased, but it's still completely unbuffed, since literally all it's doing is adding 2 seconds or whatever to the remaining duration.

Trust me, you don't want me to live stream, unless you like watching WoW slide shows.

Send me a halfway decent PC and I could though :P
09-21-2012 , 10:09 PM
Think there are going to be any good streams out there? I won't be busy at work on Tuesday
09-21-2012 , 10:31 PM
Depends on what your definition of good is, but there will be a lot of streams, so at least a couple of them should be good. I really like Affinitii's stream when it's at least semi-current stuff, ie not the stuff that's been on for the past 6 months. But part of that is probably from being a healer.

I'm sure Kungen will be streaming. I've never really watched his stream for more than a few minutes, but he always has a ton of viewers.

Towelliee I'm sure will be streaming, but I've never liked his stream at all.

A lot of the pvpers will probably be streaming, those will most likely be the most entertaining streams from Wednesday onward. Not sure when arenas open up (I assume the second week just like the raids), but still I imagine it'll be more entertaining to watch BGs than grinding heroic dungeons for gear.

If anyone is on alliance and wants to pvp CR then hit me up . Ive been doing BG's for like couple months now and starting to like pvp alot more than pve . My main used to be a mage also but not big fan of changes to fire and i miss old combustions , even tho frost is really fun with the burst . I have switched to the dark arts tho and am gonna main a warlock in mists , demonology is fun as hell in pve and pvp and destro is really good in pvp too! If anyone wants to do something just hit me up on here and we can share BTs. 3 MORE DAYS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mages can mount in mid-air now?
09-22-2012 , 08:27 PM
ok, it may be silly, but this Putting the War back in Warcraft is kinda fun. Been CRZ pvp raiding for about the last 2 hours. Hard to stop. Most of the time is spent spamming parachute and trying to kill people hovering, but when big fights happen and **** gets chaotic, it's pretty cool.

Not cool for PvE servers that get stuck on PvP servers due to CRZ and accidentally get flagged due to the massive amounts of flagged people around things like NPCs.

pve servers only get put together with other pve servers, and pvp servers only get put with other pvp servers.
