Maybe in a year or so when the price goes down. Or if I could purchase the game through gold.

This quote is my main issue

Quote:
Hazzikostas identifies two key areas the developer plans to focus on: new content released at a regular cadence and a refocusing on community-building. Providing fresh challenges for players to tackle with their friends sees them stick around, while failing to do so has dire repercussions. A cursory glance at the 14-month content drought between Patch 5.4 Siege of Orgrimmar and the release of WOD proves that.

Hazzikostas acknowledges how problematic this period was, and explains Blizzard is adamant we hopefully won’t see a similar situation ever again.

The story (excuse) from the inside is that they tripled the size of the WoW development team in order to prevent a repeat content drought, but were then WOEFULLY under-prepared for the amount of time and effort needed to train people.

In short, it took significantly longer than expected to get people up to speed, so productivity halted. Warlords of Draenor was abandoned, and all focus turned to Legion.

Blah blah same old excuses, but I don't have the same hateful feelings toward Blizzard as most people. If people feel like the game is **** in its current form, there are countless other games to occupy your time.

I'm sitting on ~7M liquid gold going into Legion, and have promised myself to abandon any form of alts. From here on out, I'm a druid and only a druid.

I don't hate Blizzard, but they have given me every reason to believe they won't produce content at a reasonable rate.

I pretty much have 0 faith in blizzard to deliver a quality and timely product when it comes to WoW, now. I may pick it up if it's ever on sale for like 50% off or something, or if I can just buy it with gold, but otherwise, **** it.

Nah, I don't even have a guild, atm. Plus, Holy Paladins seem like they're going to be straight AIDS

Woo just got the Blackhand mount. One of the two things I wanted to end on along with Violet Proto-Drake. But have to wait a month to finish that off.

I have 3 close friends that have played WoW in the past. If they buy Legion I will. Otherwise I will wait until it is dirt cheap.

Will definitely check it out, even if it's just for the new lore etc.
More hyped about blizzard talking with the nostalrius devs, maybe legacy servers just aren't that unlikely anymore.

Blizzard response on legacy servers:

Cliffs: very unlikely

I see two different ways to do legacy servers.

Have a server that upgrades through the relevant patches every 4 months or so.

Have servers that just run through every relevant patch. If you are tired with the Molten Core patch, you go to the Blackwing Lair patch and there is no going back.

Man as someone who came on during Siege of Ogrimmar, I might try out either one of those options. Hell you could even implement both.

Yea it's unlikely but with sub numbers most likely being under 4m right now & petition having 250k+ signatures, it might be a really poor idea to never do it.

I like the upgrading idea, imo release it roughly at the same rate as it did in retail, then at the end you could potentially make a new server for the next Xpac and give people the option to transfer their character or stay in the current version.

As for now, don't really mind playing on a private sever (Kronos II just got around and is a massive success, works as smoothly as nostalrius as well it seems), there's just the fear of them closing it down, altho that won't happen anytime soon again.

Well, I pre-ordered and have a bag full of tokens, so I guess I am playing Legion when it hits :P

I am just taking the same approach I had with WoD, keeping it casual, keep social ties on the low side, let the account expire as soon as it's not fun anymore.

For legacy servers, the "Pristine Realms" really misses the mark. I can't believe Blizzard doesn't realize that. I hope they don't waste their time.

It's a bit of a day dream but what I would love to see is a legacy realm for each expansion, that would just sit at the last patch of the expansion, and then have a system that would let you transfer your character up (only) to the next expansion if you wanted to move on.

Everyone rants about wanting Vanilla but I want to either go back and play WoTLK since it's the 1 expansion I never touched.

The best about pristine realm is that it prevents character transfers. That was one of, if not the biggest community killer in WoW.
