For the Alliance!

So your saying my frost spec should be dw?
01-05-2012 , 01:15 PM
Theoretically, DW Frost is higher DPS given equal ilvl's, but if you can get your hands on a Gurthalak, 2H all the way.

Gurthalak just got the nerf stick.

Bear tanks lvling in dungeons suck. Never gone so oom in all my 36+ lvls.

They increased the uptime of the tentacle. How is that a nerf?
01-05-2012 , 05:21 PM
lower proc chance iirc

best rogue ever
01-06-2012 , 12:25 AM
Alright cool, only took 6 attempts tonight. Made some minor changes to our strat that made it so much easier, it was a much cleaner kill and about 20 seconds faster.

On to H Ultraxion, wish us luck

GLHF!!

30 minutes later we're still just talking about it, woohoo!

Feels like we're back to doing normal Ultraxion on the PTR, apparently no one can find their button now...this rogue keeps dying to fading light just like he does on normal, he better get his **** together...
01-06-2012 , 02:16 AM
Q ****ing Q, 600k wipe
01-06-2012 , 02:48 AM
H Ultraxion down

We're gonna get a ton of **** for this though I'm sure for it being so much easier on 10-man

Haha our mage is listed on the top 10 for 10-man H Ultraxion right now, because the top 10 DPSers on it are fire mages

Heroic Ultraxion

Everything we did was pretty straight-forward. Hero/lust at the beginning and dps pop cooldowns and whatever. Healers hit heroic will so they don't get it here, since we don't need it (though we forgot to hit it again at the end for healers). I popped tree form and did some wrath spamming at the beginning. Doesn't do a ton of damage, but it's still ~350k less that everyone else has to do, and it's not like healing at the beginning is hard.

2 people need to soak each Hour of Twilight in 10-man, and you can only soak every 3rd one because of the debuff you get. We had feral tank and mage (cauterize) soak the 1st and 4th, warrior and DK soak 2 and 5, spriest and rogue soak 3 and 6, and the 7th was supposed to be mage (ice block) and ret (divine shield), I don't know if they did that or not but our warrior also stayed in just to make sure we didn't wipe because of something stupid like that.

Healers were resto druid and resto shaman. I grabbed red, he grabbed green and then blue when it came out. Druid grabbing red is pretty awesome because efflorescence double-dips the buff: swiftmend does 100% more healing, which means efflorescence is going to already be doing 100% more. But then each tick also gets the 100% increase, so my efflorescence is really doing 4x normal.

The really interesting part of our fight imo was cooldown usage, specifically the tanks' (both tanks have 4pc T13). Both tanks hit their cooldowns at the very beginning of the fight, because when they get the buff from Thrall a couple seconds later it refreshes the cooldowns right away. Once it was up again, warrior hit shield wall right away. The timing worked out so that it would be up again for the 2nd hour of twilight. After shield wall comes back up, he's got something like a 10 second window where he absolutely has to hit it again in order for it to be up in time for the 5th hour of twilight. So he's essentially just using it on cooldown at this point.

Feral is basically using frenzied regeneration on cooldown I think. There's not really a need for it early on in the fight, but anything to alleviate some of the healing and pad my meters is more than welcome But really, he worked backwards in the fight to figure out when he would need to hit it and when he could hit it before then so that it would be up for the end. Right before the 7th hour of twilight is basically as far as we planned cooldowns, since you can't make it much longer past that with 2 healers. And popping frenzied regeneration there buys us probably ~20 more seconds that we could have gone if we needed to (assuming the warrior tank didn't die of course).

Note that, in case you didn't already know this, the buff that the raid gets when the tank uses their 4pc is also doubled on this fight, so that's pretty awesome. 40 seconds of 30% increased healing and 30% increased health on a 90 second cooldown is pretty damn awesome. And 24 seconds of 20% reduced damage from shield wall on a 60 second cooldown isn't too shabby either.

Grats on Ultraxion! You guys are clearing that place pretty effectively. I'm guessing we'd have at least 2 heroic bosses down if we had better attendance. We did just pick up a Mage with DTR that put up some great numbers in our alt FL raid last night.

EDIT: Technically he's still in the app process, but he said the raid times worked out really well. Although we did wipe on Ragnaros last night so he might think "lol this guild wipes on Rag and they're going to do DS heroics?"

A group has been formed: 0/8 for Fall of Deathwing.

Someone in your group did not accept the invite.

A group has been formed: 3/8 for Fall of Deathwing.

FUUUUUU BLIZZ

^ That's why I love being a healer in LFR. Queue is instant, so you can just keep re-queueing until you get a 0/8.

If you get in to a 3/8 group, does that mean you wouldn't be able to loot the first 3 if you came back and did them later?

No, it's per boss I am pretty sure. You can join an in progress group then go in later and do the first few.

Thanks, I mean it is definitely significantly easier on 10-man, our mage pretty much carried the rest of the DPS by doing 48k, there's no way we would've killed it with our DPS if we were a 25-man guild. We're still moving at a pretty good pace imo though, 1 new boss a week (except Christmas since we had a short raid week with not our best players). So hopefully we can get Hagara next week and then start working on Blackhorn, since he's supposed to be a lot harder than the first 5.

Apparently the bitching from the 25-man guilds started literally right after we killed him last night, I don't know how they found out so quickly but they apparently started whispering our GL talking ****. I guess we should've been giving them **** for skipping Yor'sahj and killing Hagara first, since Hagara is supposedly significantly easier on 25-man?

This. There should also be something that tells you what bosses you're eligible to loot I think

Do you guys have any recommendations for addons for the minimap?

Right now I'm using Carbonite and sometimes it likes to spaz out.

Also, anything in relation to the dungeons? I tried Atlas, but it is pretty much balls. None of the maps are on there and it seemed like too much work trying to figure out what I needed to do.

Carbonite has the maps, but you have to scroll in really far and even then it spazzes out and doesn't like to work as well as I think it should.

I'm level 45 right now so I'm looking for anything that includes the lower level dungeons - so I can use it when tanking too.

Lastly, when do I get access to the raid finder?

Oh yeah..I tried using Grid, but I couldn't get it to work for me. Not sure what I was doing wrong. I watched a Youtube video on an old version and couldn't get it to work like I wanted to.

Blizzard standard mini map and maps imo. I don't see any reason to use addons, particularly after blizzard has added maps to all dungeons.

LFR is level 85 obviously. DS is the only raid available on it. There is semi-strict ilevel requirements too, you need to at least semi gear up before you can queue. A week in twilight heroics however can get you there fast.

SexyMap is what I use.
